D is grammatically incorrect because it's not the wages that were requested, but the increase that was requested
The principal has sought approval for her plan to grant promotions to only those seventh-grade students proficient in reading without meeting with opposition.

(A) reading without meeting with opposition
(B) reading, having met with no opposition
(C) reading, without the opposition of others
(D) reading, and has not met with opposition
(E) reading without opposition

The meaning of the sentence which I infer is that the principal has sought an approval for her plan and she didn't face any opposition on her plan.

  1. without meeting with opposition doesn't give clear meaning. It seems here opposition is used for seventh grade students.
  2. Appears to be correct but awkward. Having met is awkward.
  3. Grammatically wrong. No opposition is an even past seeking of approval.
  4. Seems to be most correct.
  5. Same as A.

I will go with D. What is the OA.

(E) not all the proceedings of the Communist party conference held in Moscow were carried live

B and C are not right ( I think improper construction) don't know the exact rules for eliminating.

Between D and E, D ends with alive, giving a different meaning, so answer is E.

(E) not all the proceedings of the Communist party conference held in Moscow were carried live

I think the answer is E

Here the original sentence means despite none of the proceedings were carried live, people saw most of them. this is a illogical meaning and the placement of not must be changed.

Hence E. Whats the OA?
