vote to is used one is undergoing the process.

(E)When the company recalled one of its best-selling products, a one billion dollar loss it was forced to accept, an expense that would have forced its main competitor into bankruptcy.

Hi Guys,

1). The verb distinguished needs to be followed by from unless it's followed by between, so eliminate (B) and (C). Between appears in (D) and (E) and, as you know from earlier examples, between must always be followed by and. Eliminate (D) for pairing between and from. Finally on the question of expression, (E) is superior to (A) because (A) contains an unnecessary their.
OA is Option-E.

2). We begin with After the company recalled and then move to it would be forced, but since the sentence is talking about something that already happened, the second verb should be it was forced. Eliminate (A) and (C). You can also eliminate (E) for offering the strange variation a one billion dollar loss it was forced to accept. (B) is wrong because it creates a sentence fragment. Make sure you know this fact: a semicolon is correct only when it joins two pieces that could stand as independent and complete sentences. In other words, you can use a semicolon only if you could use a period at the same place and still have complete sentences. (B) doesn't do that, so (D) remains.
OA is Option-D.

yea even i got both of them right... but was late in replying... (is this sentence correct πŸ˜‰ i hope so, or u think 'but i was...' to be better? πŸ˜ƒ

Hi Guys,

What I inferred from your doubt and his answer is pick for singular/plural.

has----> always stands for singular.
have---> always stands for plural.

This is a subjunctive, and modifier question.

here which must modify the wing. So, A,C,D are incorrect.

Now take B, "hope to be opened" is an awkward construction.

In E "hope to open" is correct. So E wins.

Lemme help you with the concepts a little.

Your file line is incorrect. There should be no adjective at the end of a sentence , that too without a noun. The correct sentence should read as "My answer is in bold" or "My answers are in bold".

The answer to this has to be (E).
Here's the POE and analysis:
When you propose something, there is never a question of "might" or "were". You propose that X will happen or Y would happen.
So options (C) and (D) involving might and were respctively are incorrect and can be ruled out purely on this. There are other erors these sentence face but I'll leave that for later in case someone wants me to delve into it.
Option (A) - "which" seems to modify the hospital and not the hopital's wing. hence is incorect.
Option (B) - always maintain the same verb tense in a sentence (I have said this time and time again in erarlier posts as well). Hence "opened" verb form in the past tense does not go with the future tense "by the end of the year" phrase. hence this is incorrect.
Option (E) - correct.

hence option is (E)

Few points which I have collated from the earlier explanations provided by puys for the below mentioned question-

Question:The architect proposed that supplies for the new wing of the hospital, which hospital administrators hoped to open by the end of the year, will be procured from local providers.
(A)that supplies for the new wing of the hospital, which hospital administrators hoped to open by the end of the year, will be
(B)that supplies for the hospital's new wing, which hospital administrators hope to be opened by the end of the year, be
(C)that the hospital's new wing's supplies, which hospital administrators hope to be opened by year's end, might be
(D)that supplies for the new wing of the hospital, which hospital administrators hope to be open by the end of the year, were
(E) that supplies for the hospital's new wing, which hospital administrators hope to open by the end of the year, be

1-Subjunctive Construction(used in hopes, proposals,desires and requests).
2-When you propose something, there is never a question of "might" or "were". You propose that X will happen or Y would happen.
3-Misplaced Modifiier.
4-Incorrect Tense.

@Anubhav and Puys, please add any point which I might have left.
