Folks i m still searching an explanation for this question, anyone plz explain it --

great economist is incorrect adjective. Its not like great grandfather! ;);)>

who is not required. Also, 'in the twentieth century' is incorrect according to me. We should use 'of the twentieth century'.>


I would go with Option A.

B. Uses "great" we must use superlative "greatest"
C.this is a tough one to eliminate, the only reason i find is the use of about.
D.Uses "who was" when there is no noun to modify in preceding clause
E.Who was here again is passive.

b & e can be ruled out straightaway,because of pronoun referencing errors.

I thought option a) looked little awkward.->stated that they plan to expand....which is unnecessary. ( or is it actually ok? ...)

Anyways option a) uses they...their...

it ..should be better here since we are referring to management as a whole.(hint - its their collective decision to expand).

left with c and d.

I would chose d)..."on expanding" made me eliminate option c). Not sure about it though.

Boils down to C vs D.

"plan on expanding" is not wrong usage, but "plan to expand" is preferred usage. Even though the introduction of intention is wordy, its needed in this context.

IMO: Option D.

c) they have been - they doesnt have a clear reference.does it refer to televesion costs?.
d) "so" - incorrect

it would have been a good answer choice.

It's clear that, it refers to the later one as it talks about the proportion..
