Wow!!! Not a single one I answered is correct. Great...
Let me change my status first and then will go down have some caffeine and would try to feel the answer for 157. Personal experience would help I think.
On my first go: ALL THE OA's FOR THESE QUESTIONS ARE INCORRECT.

Thanks,

I too seriously doubt the OAs. I won't bet that all are wrong. But some are absolutely incorrect. will discuss further after some more comments from our friends. Sweet dreams.

Ok, I think the OAs for 153, 158 adn 166 are correct. I will post my reasoning later. But still in doubt for the other two questions.

BTW, good questions to frustrate anyone, especailly after doing essays and quant section for an hour.

Qn 150 :
A - 'of them', B- 'they have' intorduces uncertainity; D - 'which has', E - 'in which' are not correct. The only option left is C. It is concise as well.

Qn 153 - I chose B.
I thought A is incorrect because 'to what' seemed to modify ownership of land but I guess it modifies 'return'.hmm..

Qn 157 - I chose C
..but I guess simple past is required here.

Qn 158 - I chose B (though now it looks incorrect cos 'it' before 'follows' does not have the correct antecedant. Don't know if I am right here.
No idea why A is correct though. Is it be because 'to them by mortgage applicants' should be followed by 'be'?

Qn 166: I chose E because 'such firms' required 'firms' to be mentioned before but missed on the parallelism aspect :(

4 out of 5 are wrong

150. C is correct .. I guess we are seeing community and decide which for it but we need a word to define shiprock "where"

153. No idea.

157. C is correct simple past is required.

158. A is correct as information of different people will be plural and we will have to use follow.

159. 😞

"At Shiprock, New Mexico, a perennially powerful girls' high school basketball team has become a path to college for some and a source of pride for a community where the household incomes of 49 percent of them are below the poverty level." - In this sentence there is no way "where" refer to Shiprock. If the sentence was written as "At Shiprock, New Mexico, where the household incomes of 49 percent of them are below the poverty level, a perennially powerful girls' high school basketball team has become a path to college for some and a source of pride for a(the) community" - Perhaps we could go with the logic to explain why where refers to shiprock and not community. Ok I have also stumbled upon a logic "community" refers to a place. Does anyone agree?

hello puys... was out of my favourite world for couple of days and now couple more since i am travelling and partying, ofcourse for business reasons. i seriously want tuesday morning to come faster so that i can jump into GMATing. started to feel that i am loosing the grip so thought to go through some questions here.

well, 1 to 6 looks quite straight forward, the 7th one looks interesting. The sentence looks to have meaning like this : The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory is attacked by some people as dated and culturally biased and so it needs to be revised. The sentence needs passive voice to convey the idea correctly, so B is the best choice. only D is another choice which conveys the meaning but B is just better.

7. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory,
a test developed in the 1930s to assess
character, attitudes, and behavior, is finally
being revised, after many attacks recently as
dated and culturally biased.
(A) is finally being revised, after many attacks
recently as dated and culturally biased
(B) has recently been attacked as dated and
culturally biased and is finally being
revised
(C) is finally under revision for receiving much
recent
attack as dated and culturally
biased
(D) was finally revised recently because it is
being
attacked as dated and culturally
biased
(E) is finally to be revised after recent attacks
as dated
and culturally biased

I am not sure though but I am left with B only. Errors shown in red.

Hello Friends,

Please can you tell me the difference between the usages of who and whom. My apologies if this question has been answered before but I am finding it really hard to skim through the 700 pages of this thread!.

Thanks!

Hi Guys, have a query abt a question.
Aho, a Kiowa matriarch, held festivals in her home, they featured the preparation
of great quantities of ceremonial food, the wearing of many layers of colorful
clothing adorned with silver, and the recounting of traditional tribal jokes and
stories.

(A) Aho, a Kiowa matriarch, held festivals in her home, they featured
(B) Festivals were held in Aho, a Kiowa matriarch's home, which featured
(C) Aho, who was a Kiowa matriarch in her home, held festivals featuring
(D) In her home, Aho, a Kiowa matriarch, held festivals that featured
(E) Aho, a Kiowa matriarch, held festivals in her home that featured

Can anyone tell me whats the correct choice and why?

Thanks in advance

The answer is D.

The logic is as follows:
(A) "they....." is an independent clause which should be separated by semicolon
(B) Awkward and unidiomatic
(C) Aho was a Kiowa matriarch and not just "in her home"
(E) Looks as if it was the home that "featured" and not the festivals which is actually the author's intention
(D) sorts out all these problems.

Any comments/thoughts?

Cheers!

not sure about 1st one though..

What are the OA's and explanations for these as I think q 4 should be D due to the parallelism of "for"

A has "including" which doesnot seem to sound that well
B For B there is a , before and
C with child care facilities included - again sounds incorrect
E communal eating and social facilities included - looks a little off
