E...........Although I should not select passive voice but in this sentence the second phrase after comma is in passive voice. So, I would like to select B on that account. furthermore C is assertive.
D too is a bit more assertive. Ohooo even E looks good now.
Ok so competion is between B ad E. Hmm.. E I guess. I can't figure out the problem with B but the word once doesn't sounds good to my ear. There certainly is some problem with the word once over there. Also, E is parallel to the second phrase.

hello puys, time to start grinding at its best...good question. i prefer to use the non-underlined part for such parallelism questions. Also note that non-underlined part is passive. so it is better to go with passive among choices. "Should be" is completely wrong, rule out A, B, E. we are left with C and D. D is only passive.
i m still not pretty sure about use of should be. Can someone throw more light on use of should be?

i wud stick with option D as it has the correct usage of 'will' .

I am not aware of this SHould be is wrong funda.
Can you please let me know what why should be is wrong.
About option D: It is saying human being will be hit. Will is something is that is certain. THat is why I throttle to use it.

hey
how "will" is incorrect in option C?

and is there a rule that both the sentence should be in the passive ?

please clear my doubts....

As the sentence describes the expectation of the scientist, nothing can be said with certainity, the usage of should be exercises the fact that the action has to be done as an obligation .. so should be entirely wrong and out ..

Option A looks like a requirement .. human being shoyuld be struck, so its wrong .. lookin at B it seems as if the scientist wants the meteorite to strike a person every nine years, so it is not the correct option.. option E i just clarified above why the usage of the verb should be is wrong.. so its basically between C and E .. As far as C is concerned once in every 9 years is a little awkward, once every sounds better.. So D

hey
how "will" is incorrect in option C?

and is there a rule that both the sentence should be in the passive ?

please clear my doubts....

Nahh.. never heard of such a rule, and as such my funde of grammar are poor 😞 neverthless the usage of will merely states the scientists claim as a possibility ..

Thanks !

it means ,
in sentence C usage of 'will' shows certainty as it is in active and in option D it shows the possibility as it is in passive . is this the reason why D is correct over C?

you are right. will is showing certainity. but look at the sentence. scietists have calculated. now two things about calculation it is either true like PS or you predict (use of can be). Will may not be correct to 100% but it is better than should. a human should be struck by meteorite. It is not necessary that meteorite should struck a human being... i hope you are getting what i mean to say...

you need passive voice to make the perfect parallelism, otherwise C is the best choice.

It is C for me too. Active voice wins over passive mostly.

I love the logic "dont know why...just by gut feeling." No worries we all go through this at some point or the other. But I am afraid - C is incorrect - It states that there is "one human being" lets call him "Gail". The meteorite will strike Gail once in every nine years. See the error. here we need to understand the difference b/w "A human being" and "one human being". Like mission Bro and smoking dude pointed out "should be" is incorrect because it states a requirement. so A,B,E are gone. We have eliminated C so left with D only.
@Mission - Are you sure about this rule that we need both the parts of the sentence to be "passive" here. I am convinced the way I have explained above which is essentially meaning based. dude I have to tell you that you sound like the official guides. Kudos man. Good job. We surely need your help here.

hello puys...
@Gail... i smhow have ur image as chris gayle...hahaha
anyway, I am not a grammer guru, but my perception from GMAT SC study is that parallel is better. Although i didnt notice your logic of "a" vs"one" while answering which is a really good catch. Also notice the parallelism between "every nine years ......., while each sixteen years....." The time line also also preferable to be in parallel. which is only in "D" and E. that itself rules out A,B,C. isnt it?

1) My take is B. such questions smhow are hard to explain. Past tense is needed so rule out D and E. Just like is wrong because here entire clause is compared. "While" in B conveys meaning of the sentence.

2) dude, u need to delete the answer from question. its A. i have highlighted errors in choices with red.
3) Overtime cant cause errors in judgement. So rule out A,B,C. they all suggest the otherwise. E is better than D because potential for causing is unidiomatic in D.
