(E)Some airline companies prefer to spend extra money on leather seats, sometimes twice as expensive as the others, for their aircraft because they last twice as long.
The modifier " sometimes twice as expensive as the others " modifies leather seats and must be placed next to leather seats. Option C is awkward and unlear. Option E is the correct answer. Moreover the pronoun "their" refers back to companies & "they " refers back to leather seats in option E.

Nipunbans SaysGuys!! any more takers for this one? I was down to A, D. donno y A is wrong over D?
Yup I too, not posted my take earlier as you have already posted the option which I was thinking.
option A is I think correct. "responding" is modifying President Bush only.
Cause and Effect relationship, use of present participle is correct to show that.
If it is wrong then kindly post the OE !
Wow!!! Not a single one I answered is correct. Great...
Let me change my status first and then will go down have some caffeineand would try to feel the answer for 157. Personal experience would help I think.
On my first go: ALL THE OA's FOR THESE QUESTIONS ARE INCORRECT.
Thanks,
Anurag...
hi Anurag!
i have done many questions from 1000 SC and the above mentioned are the tougher ones...so no need to worry much bout that!!
and Q 152 (coffee one) is dubious according to one Manhattan staff
I think the answer should be 'A' as it best suit for modifiers. Spend extra money on what and for whom. So A satisfies both. Although E looks good but it only says spend extra money on leather seats but leather seats for whom? It's aircraft or for their air port. Plz let me know if i am wrong

i'll go for option C here over option E coz the constrast 'despite' makes the sentence more meaningful..

Classical guitar was neither prestigious nor played often in concert halls until it was revived by Andres Segovia in the mid-twentieth century, having been won over by the instrument's sound despite its relative obscurity.
You mean "having" correctly expresses the meaning here?
IMO a better construct would be:
Classical guitar was neither prestigious nor played often in concert halls until it was revived in the mid-twentieth century by Andres Segovia, having been won over by the instrument's sound despite its relative obscurity.
dare2 Saysi'll go for option C here over option E coz the constrast 'despite' makes the sentence more meaningful..
In C the only thing that has been bothering me :
c)Classical guitar was not prestigious and was not often played in concert halls until Andres Segovia revived it in the mid-twentieth century, after he was won over by the sound despite the instruments relative obscurity.
How am I supposed to understand that its the sound of the guitar? Maybe if the "the" is replaced by "its" this could be better.

OK. My Take.. Using POE
Two mistakes I can see are
1) was Neither X nor Y is right but not "was Neither X nor was Y". So A,E are out.
2 ) "Having been won over" should modify Andres...So A, B are out.
3) D doesn't make sense. "guitar having prestige..." etc
remaining - C
