Nice to see this thread. I am taking GMAT on 29th Oct. Just took an OG 11. still looking out for KAPLAN. The busy streets of Koti hold no KAPLAN!
How do I get hold of this KAPLAN books? Pls do suggest and also I would like to have the prep tests. What CDs are avaialble for GMAT? How to get these?

Yes. we are planning for Aug 2008. Heard that the app. procedure starts by December. So ideally one shud get the GMAT scores by Nov 07 to check if one can make it...

Depends on your centre and the takers. In Hyd, dates are available from Oct 15 onwards... Taking a date is easy. check on the www.mba.com website to check the availability of dates in your preferred centres..

As my display name suggests I am targetting an MBA from an Ivy League Institute in US. Wish to apply for MBA in Aug 2008 intake.
Am taking my GMAT on 10th October (Mumbai) so that I can apply in November - December.
My Profile:
Work Ex:- 2.2 years (IT)
Where:- A CMMi level 5 MNC company
Undergrad Acads:- V Good
Extracurriculars:- Excellent
My Target: 750+ on the GMAT
What am I reading:
I have completed Quant from OG Quant and OG, SC from Manhattan, CR from Kaplan & OG, RC from OG Verbal.
I was supposed to take GMAT on 20 Aug but am rescheduling the same as I think I have some more time and I can add few more points to my GMAT score!

Mate, my idea is to do MBA from an international school, not essentially US only. US schools have early deadlines as compared to other schools. So my first attempt would be US. I may try for other schools but may be later.
CAT is too difficult, requires lot of dedication which i doubt I can aim for :D

The 'ideal' time would be anytime before december 2007 by when the application procedures is supposed to start. If you start your prep now, 3 months is supposd to be ample time for GMAT..

Hi jai,
You missed the bible of GMAT. The offical guide edition 10/11. It has real GMAT questions which is a must to have. You can also try manhattan sc. I found this book quite good. Just depends on how much you want to practice and how much time you have.
Read it somewhere and would iterate it again over here.

Mate, it depends on which colleges you are targetting and when do you want to apply.
If you want to get into a b-school in aug 08, better start now and give your gmat till november. You will need some time later to appear for your toefl, write essays, work on applications.
The early the better.
I think 2 months of thorough practice is sufficient. Well it depends on person to person. I know of people who have given GMAT after preparing for a week and scoring 7xx and people have wasted months altogether and achieved nothing. I know you are much better 😉 stay focused. Study well. Devote ample time. Focus more on your weak areas.
Take a diagnostic test and start banging ...
