12:30-3 slot
Since my friend had exam in the morning slot, i reached the centre by morning 8:30 itself.. Had to wake up at 4 in the morning and travel.. So by the time the test started i was dead tired and sleepy!

General awareness questions- the type of questions u used to see in conventional pattern quiz 😃
There was no current affairs 😞
But lotta things i've read.. i think for one question all four options were wrong 😲 I dont remember which question it was.. But i was pretty sure at that time the answer wasnt there..
Will they give marks for that? 😞
I am hoping of getting around 10 right in gk section 😃
Reasoning/english section was a piece of cake! Especially the reasoning part was so easy 😃
In english, passage questions cud easily be solved by method of elimination.. 2-3 verbal questions were confusing! I am hoping to get atleast 30 right in this section..
Well, technical section was like a mixed bag!! Qns from engg mathematics cud be easily solved if one had practised gate qns.. 😃
Because they were almost the same level questions!
Some questions looked impossible to do without the calculatr! And there were really tough questions u wud never encounter in any objective book or textbook or anywhere :D
Then there was this qn on finding the friction angle.. the question cud be solved in seconds if u had a calculator! But then the options were 19.5 degree, 20 degree, 21 degree, 21.5 degree !! How can we reach such answers without calculator 😞 And then this question where u r asked to find f(3).. 😲
This was the qn 'Find the value of f(3) ' Only God knows wat the function was 😁
Around 60% of questions were doable provided u've practised from a good book !! 20-30 % questions involved heavy calculations !! I've no idea how much i'll get in this section because i've made calculated guesses for atleast 20 questions. It all depends on those questions now!!
Overall it was a moderate paper, trickier than the EIL paper..
I am guessing the cut off to be around 100 marks..

Completed HALL 2013 IMM-MECHANICAL (15-11-2013 mrng 9-11.30)
1.One thing i want to say .....Both IMM(MECH) and MECH TECHNICAL are same papers from 1-160 bits
2.No current affairs...only G.K but G.k que are quite absurd:-D..some of the que i got are

-clonning of 1st buffalo is named as..options(a.nandini,b.nandi..etc)
-rang de basanthi director
-who won solver medal in olympics 2012
-who made the 1st debut test century
-author of alice the wonderful island
-who won oscar for the 1st time in india
-who is the US ambassador of india
-the name of latest fully automated robot..options(a.successor,b.assassian,c.ultimate)
-the largest river in the independent states..options(ob river) i didnt knw que clearly
-the name of gujarat party..options(gujarat pramanik party..etc)
-the major occupational products in sudan
-who is the guru of shivaji..options( tukaramji..etc)
-when did chandragupta mourya died..options(650..etc)
3.For all Mechies of same time exam, the paper is same
4.next ,the English part consists of three passages each consists of 3 quetions ..very easy to understand
-meanings average level
-reasoning are very easy,expect 2 are tricky
english and reasoning are easy part
5.Finally Technical part,the paper is in between easy and average..problems are some what tym taking..but short problems only...theory u can keep by seeing the options(easy)...more stressed on operational research....equivalent paper with 50 problems-50 theory
6.time is the most important factor...so plan accordingly because some problems are quite tactical..
7.Overall the paper of correct level...not to easy...not so hard...

General knowledge- Level medium and Hard, related to author of book, and many more......
English and reasoning - level was easy and medium, questions on train speed etc. not much time taking as that of SAIL
Technical - 70 - 75% numericals, rest tricky ques. without calculation from operation research etc.
Conclusion - without calculator very tough to solve numericals of technical if you managed to solve without calculator then not enough time to attempt other questions, GK - depends on luck, Eng and Reasoning- A great sigh of relief.
Expected cut off - above 85 GEN and 80 OBC
What is the use of such type of GK in HAL??? Also r the technical staff of HAL performs all mathematical operations without calculator?????
