Converted IIFT Kolkata

IIFT-K Final Convert

Are there any chances of moving to IIFT-D taking into account large number of IIFT-D final list of 306 and if so what is the procedure ?

Any idea about the refund policy if we cancel our admission?

Hi guys,

Read this post carefully, twice, if possible. This is important for those who have converted and for those who haven't. This is regarding the waitlist and the movement process. For those whose names are in the Delhi list, you've made it. You will, within two weeks, receive a letter (both e-mail and hard copy) which will contain further instructions. We'll be talking of those later anyway. Ditto goes for people who have converted Kolkata. You've seen the buffer number of calls that have come. This is because migration usually takes place like this: Delhi people move out to other B-schools, Kolkata people move to Delhi, and there is a buffer waitlist that will move to Kolkata. This, however, is not the only movement. If you have a Delhi shortlist and want to move to Kolkata, you can do so as well. And Kolkata can move out to other B-schools, you get the drift.

So how does one do that? Once the converts get this said mail, they'll be asked to pay the first instalment (last time it was INR 2,85,000) by a fixed date (usually three weeks from the result), and secure their admission. The Kolkata converts, in case they're desirous of shifting to Delhi need to reply to this mail, and your conversion will be made possible in order of merit, and availability. (More stats on this later) Once this date is over, and the admissions office is a little clear about the number of people, a waitlist mail will be sent out to a few of those who haven't converted, which will ask if you're desirous of joining IIFT, and allot you a merit number. In case you are interested, you'll be asked to pay a certain non-refundable amount (last time it was INR 10,000), and then you'll wait for waitlist movement. In case you make it through, you pay the first instalment as mentioned above to secure admission. This process will last till June, classes will commence, presumably, from the first weekday of July (so July 1).

Shoot any queries that you have about this.

Best,

Shanton

any person here withdrawing his/her admission in nmims?. should v start with the process of withdrawal or should we wait for a later point of time ??

Regarding loans, here's our president, Vinay Biradar, and I quote:

"Hello Everyone,

Congratulations on making it to IIFT! There can be only a few prouder moments than this one.

I see that a lot of you are worried about the loan process as early as a day after your results. Do not panic, memorise this mantra. You will need it more than ever from now on.

Most of us in my batch have availed our loans from SBI, for the simple reason that the bank offers "Scholar Loan" to IIFT students. Under Scholar Loan, you get preferential interest rates, which to my understanding no other bank's interest rates would match. You can find out more about Scholar Loans here: https://www.sbi.co.in/port.../.../personal-banking/scholar-loans

The NCERT branch of SBI has a tie up with IIFT and availing the loan from there is seamless. Delhites could get in touch with the branch manager. For people outside Delhi, you could get it done even after the course starts. You may pay the first installment on your own and get it reimbursed from the bank later on when the loan is sanctioned.

Okay, to wrap up, I'm not vouching for SBI or any other bank in particular. Ultimately it is your decision. Go ahead and make it count, because a wise man once said- 'When a man is in love or in debt, someone else has the advantage' "

Any queries, again, to me. I don't know if Vinay is on PG, in case he is, I'll gladly share his handle with you too.

Best,

Shanton
