@rp_o-O: We would suggest you find people who can vouch for your credentials. The purpose of a reference is to gather information about you from people who you know and who know you. If you are having trouble finding referees in your undergraduate institution, try and find someone who is a prominent social activist or the like. It holds equal weight in my opinion.

So we will be cross questioned in interview on reference, or is it just a criteria to be fulfilled for final selection.

Can I give My twin sister & my uncle as referee? My point is that can any one from my family be my referee?

If i am not mistaken, the guidelines properly states that you cannot have a friend or family member as your referee...

Provide contact details of 3 referees who can write about your ability and achievements. These references form one of the criteria for selection. Before submitting your application, please initiate an email communication with your referees from this screen by clicking on 'Send E-mail to Referee requesting reference'. Your referees should have provided their online references before you submit your application. You can correct the email id of a referee if reference has not yet been received, by Clicking on the Referee Name Link. Upon 'Save', the original link will be invalidated and the same will be communicated to the referee. You can resend e-mail to a referee by Clicking on the Referee Name Link and saving the details. The 'Send E-mail to Referee requesting reference' link will be re-enabled. You can replace a referee completely if reference has not yet been received, by deleting the original referee and adding the new referee. Upon 'Save', the original link will be invalidated and the same will be communicated to the referee.

You are allowed up to 10 changes to referee details. You will receive an email communication upon receipt of the references. Please inform your referees about reference seeking mails originating from [email protected]. This is to avoid the e-mail from landing in their SPAM mail folder. If your referees are not able to access 'Online reference' page, please request them to ask the System / Network administrator of their Organization to permit access.

Well I have a doubt regarding the category of company under which NTPC (in which I am currently working) will go? Any one else from NTPC may please clarify my doubt...I don't seem to find any Power sector in the drop down menu!!....

1) In Semester marks , do we have to enter the percentage for that particular semester or the total percentage up to that semester ?

2)Deloitte - Its in services domain catering to various industries , what should i choose ?

3)First class/Distinction - how to enter this for CBSE Board ?

@havingnot We have been trying to give you guys the best possible guidance. Some of these guidelines may not be in black and white, the essence is more important and that's why it's better to go by the advice of the people who have 'been there done that' to avoid potential pitfalls. It's not rocket science to understand that putting family members as your referees defeats the purpose of the online referral. Please try to be less argumentative in the larger interest of the incoming batch.

Hi. I am new to PagalGuy. I am a CA. Gave CAT for the 1st time and I have got IIM-B call.


1)Is there a thread here for discussion on SOPs? Can someone please help me with the link?

2) I accidentally gave my Graduation % in Cat form as 75.97% (which was rounded off to 76.0) but in actuality I have got 75.88 (how it happened was that I took a simple average of marks of 3 years when it should have been a weighted average). Should I do something in this regard?

Last doubt :

There is a radiobutton for class 11 scores. But the percentage remains the same as class 12 when i click on the class 11 radiobutton.

Is it not mandatory to upload class 11 scores ? Or is it like upload one of class 11 or 12.

1. For university marksheet, i dont have consolidated marks memo, but i have 8 marksheets for each sem... i want to leave that as i see it is not a mandatory field.. is it fine??

2. In references i see a column "In Which Capacity does he/she know you?".. what does it exactly mean??? what does i exactly have to mention there???? can som1 please help me on this?

hey can anyone tell me my 10 and 12 is showing my best of 5 marks and its uneditable. Its also mentioned to write all the subjects that contributed to the total.Should I write all the subjects or only the ones that contributed to the aggregate. Although my total percentage will not change much. my 10 will become 91.5 from 91.8 and my 12 will become 93 from 94.5.What to do?

1. There should be some thread regarding the same. Fellow puys can answer that
2. Report the same to admissions office immediately so that you don't face problems in the future

regarding the reference part, does it work something like...i give their details and they get a questionaaire sort of thing from iim b which they have to fill. if yes then how do i know whether they have filled it on time?

@abhi.iimb @elflord I have a total of approximately 3 years work experience out of which I spent the last 6 months in my current project and the rest 2.5 years approx. in another project. My query is that does IIMB consider 6 months as enough time for my lead/manager to evaluate me in order be my referees or should I stick to getting references from my old project?
