If you want to know about the scandal unfolding at IIMA (2020), keep reading - Mass cheating enabled by the incompetence of management at IIMA. Juniors beware! Honest folks must clamour for honest exams because the PGP manager doesn't give a damn about your grades or cheating. IIMA management needs an overhaul now.
There's a big scandal underway at A that has happened due to the ineptitude of the management.
If you are not aware, IIMA has very stern policies surrounding cheating in exams. Just getting caught copying in two exams is sufficient cause for admin to require a student to repeat a year.
This year, given that exams are fully online, cheating has been quite rampant from the start. The PGP manager just washed his hands off things at the start saying that students must hold themselves to high standards and refrain from cheating. That's it, nothing more.
Unsurprisingly, more people than not started copying and this became more and more commonplace over time, so much that some folks that hadn't cheated earlier started cheating because grades are relative at A.
The management did absolutely nothing about it. For two terms, mass cheating continued unabated. Co-ordinated on ... groups, question papers sent to outsiders who sentback answers, people gathering in the same room to share answers, cheating teemed and flourished.
The management didn't give two hoots about integrity or whatever they claim to uphold. But then, in one particular exam, a whole lot of students got caught by a prof who then intimated admin and then admin started clamping down. But, nonetheless, this changes nothing in terms of the umpteen number of other exams where cheaters cheated to their hearts' glee. The poor folks that got caught in this one exam are being harassed for months altogether (I'm not one of them, I'd rather quit than cheat) while other folks are being let go scot free, including some that have been cheating from the very start (SAC member *wink wink*). The whole grading system has lost all credibility because of management's ineptitude. Some people who stayed honest until the end are super depressed about their lackluster grades thanks to cheating and even lost out on exchange because of management's utter incompetence.
For an institute that claims to be one of the best places to learn management, it's ironic how badly they've bungled up things.Every action management has taken so far has been arbitrary and absolute drivel. For instance, out of nowhere, we've been told that this particular exam where a whole lot of people got caught would be reconducted for the entire batch!!! This after months altogether! The management's response to cheating is harassment of honest folks and the issue of remediation for all the other exams where cheating happened on the same scale or worse has not been addressed. No word from management, nada, zilch. What IIMA needs right now is an overhaul. Management sucks big time and this can't be emphasized enough. Behind the facade, there is a big stink and a cover up.
Since we've no recourse against this dumb management, hope this piles some pressure on the ones at the helm. At least going forward, hopefully, disasters as this can be prevented. #IIMA
