GD/PI date;-9th feb 3013slot:-8:30 am
Panel:-A lady n two men (luckily a got a cheerful lot)
GD:-der were supposed to be 18 participants but only 12-13 attended
the case provided was a rather silly one...we had to discuss which dog to buy for a household as to optimize the cost,comfort,space & choice of the entire family
I pitched in 3-4 times,made relevant comments,i guess it went okay..only 4-5 of us were speaking..no one created a fish market..anybody who tried was given space...so it went respectably okay..although i was amused to see der were 4 conclusions before before the panel inter wined.
PI:-[went about 15 min]

A:-luckily i knew

A:-thts it...i didnt knew [dey were asking general questions becoz i opted for PGDM in priority]

A:-answer only if u have really read somethg...they grilled me through n through untill they wer satisfied tht um not lying
Q:-who is salman rushdie & whch of his book is banned in india?(somethg about midnight's children also)
A:-answered
Q:-what is 8085,cloud computing,its buiness implications etc?

Q: which is ur biggest weakness?
A: i said um a foodaholic..cnt stand being hungry..they broke into laughter n thought should let me go nw...
i think it went fine...
ADVISE to rest of the appearing lot
fill ur form really carefully...they r going to scritinize it down the last word...bt dont play too safe...jus be honest about everythg

GD was a Case study-we had to discuss the pros and cons of increase in private institutions in higher education regarding the 11th and 12th five year plans.

PI was very smooth

They started with
Meaning behind my name and also the opposite to it
Any politicians with my name?To which state and which party does he belong to?

Basic GK :As i'm from Hyderabad they asked(finance minister,home minister) of Andhra pradesh,Owner of GVK.
and also Chief minister of UP.

Hobbies:Be very particular about your hobbies.As i said Table tennis was my hobby they were asking about the players who played for India,brand names regarding bats and tables.

As i'm a fresher basic stuff regarding my academics: what is a microprocessor?How did it get that name?What are Pentium 1,2,3,4? Companies associated with microprocessor design.

In the end comes our favourite- Why MBA?

On the whole though GD turned out to be a fish market,PI went good.

Concentrate more on basic stuff regarding yourself(strength and weakness),hobbies,basics of your academics,native city;state;politics.

What's the general dress code for GDPI's? Formals compulsorily? If yes, again are accessories like tie, blazer etc(don't hav any of these stuff wid me btw :D) compulsory? I would be attending my first ever GDPI for MBA admissions this sat @ bangalore for IMT N/H/D.. anything else that i should take care of?

@Ankita_Cheena I don't think so. Only things they have asked to carry are -
1.Copy of CAT2012/XAT2013/GMAT/CMAT Score card.
2.Filled in Personal Details Form (Original + 2 Photocopies).
3.Original Testimonials (Marks-sheet & Passing Certificates of 10th, 12th and Graduation).
4.Work Experience Certificate(s), if any.

I think they will get all the details they need from the personal details form.

@supreetkini i have a doubt before i post my experiences.. I hav given my choice as IMT G-1, IMT-Dubai-2,IMT N-3. So in case i cnt convert IMT-G & am waillisted i will be next considered for IMT-Dubai and then nagpur right??

GD topic-Case study on a household troubled by kids spending too much on unnecessary stuff.
10 mins for 15 people is too less. Though i shouted twice to make myself heard.

PI-Questions from business scenario, my acads, hobbies, why MBA, Why not go for a job first etc. OVerall 2.5/5

@Ankita_Cheena Not neccesaary.But you have to carry the filled in personal details form(1 original with one photo and two photocopies of the form);cat score card;academics original certificates right from your 10th standard;work ex certificate if any.

as per my experience..they did not went through anybody's creditials except urs core card n mrksheets...bt i did carry my resume..coz u must be prepared for everythg n also 2 page of resume hardly carry any weight so why take chances

Considering it is ur first GD/PI evr...getting the ri8 attire boosts ur confidence immensly..while the jury takes note of it,keeps the attention of the competing lot at you.also...while a tie sounds good...a blazer is aboslutely optional....rest is usual formal shoes,watch,a pen etc...it makes u stand out...
but remember it is all for the first impression...if u don speak sensibly or fall short whn it comes to performing..not only u lose badly..u lose the extra brownie points as well!
