Their doc says :"No,we do not entertain personal computers or laptops into the Infosys campus.We provide you the machines to work on."
Now,we can't expect them to provide "machines" in our hostel rooms right..
.....and do their security personnel actually check our DVDs/CDs for pirated stuff?

Hostels are gr8, havent stayed in there but taken a look. Rooms have very neat furniture, AC, 21" TV and are spacious enough for 2 ppl. If u r lucky u might get a room with a sitout. U have coffee vending machines in each hostel and the training block will be at a stones throw from the hostel blocks. Infy will give u all the facilities u can think of except good food. I just loathed the Mysore DC food for the whole of the 1.5 yrs I was there and mind you I was a localite so was eating there only once a day, but then the caterer could have changed in the last 4-5 months, so keep ur fingers crossed abt that. One more +ve thing is that in Infy Mysore there is a foreign batch always being trained.(I believe thats more of a diplomatic and good will gesture than nething else), so u will get a chance to interact with them. Around 6 months ago batches from Thailand and Mauritius were trained at Mysore.
As for the query on personal comps, no way that will be allowed. Officially CD's are not allowed but there are ways to smuggle them in.

this is a piece of info bout Mysore DC i recieved from a nice & helpfull senior frnd who has wrkd with infy.
1) Mysore as a place :- a very peaceful city and the energy levels are very low I must say. No malls and shopping complexes. Ppl from Infy usually hang out in a place called Planet X, u have bowling, karting, gaming arcade and disc there. But then U will be spending 90% of ur time inside the Infy campus so it shudnt actually matter how the city is. In the campus u have 3 snooker + 8 pool tables. Also a 10,000 sqft gym + aerobics, bada sa swimming pool, tt tables, basketball court, tennis and squash. U name it and u have it. Also a 10 bed hospital is coming up soon. Not to mention a multiplex to boot.It will be like a 5 star boarding school, gr8 facilities...the campus is the best I have seen till date.
2) Training :- Ppl feel training is hectic but that will actually be ur best time there.
3) ATM :- U have ICICI ATM in the campus, u also have a branch inside the campus. Ur salary account will be with ICICI.
4) Flight :- Catch a flight from Delhi to Blore and come to Mysore by train/bus. I know it sound foolish but thats the way it is. It will take u longer to get from Blore to Mys than to get to Blore from delhi. By train the journey is 3 hrs and from Mys railway station it will be a 40 min drive to the Infy campus.
5) Hostels :- In each hostel room u have gr8 furniture, study tables, ac and a flat plasma 21" TV. Some rooms have beautiful sitouts as well. The girls hostel will be very next to the boys hostel.

( our coll. allows dual placements .. !!! ) Now i am confused about to join which 1 out of tis two ... !!! As u r workin in infy from past 1-2 yrs. ... i gueess nobody else can b better in helpin me in makin tis decision.
So can u please guide me to join which co... which offfers me better growth prospectus, will nurture my skills well ... , work culture .. , self development ... & better salary ... !! Have u cared to read through the 7 pages in this thread?? Well there are a lot of people who are/will be joining Infy at any given point in time so chances are all these blokes would have got the same doubts as you.

Infy has confirmed the rise in pay package through the mail. N moreover the joining date has been postponed by around one month. Earlier it was 10 th of october... now it is 19th september.

the very first day you join there would an orientation session where they will take you thru everything. you can clarify all your doubts there.
my advice is taking it cool, most of these things dont matter, and the things that do you wont have control over.

since now we know we are going to join infy in a month or so...lest ask our seniors who gone thru the interesting training period nt about the training but how did they manage their budget in such a small sal package...all the seniors can post their replies...those who stayed at luxurious mysore DC, or else where. plz suggest us how to keep a track of our thin salary & keep a check before its gone!!
Personally i dont think so this kind of salary (for freshers like us) needs a budget but still want to ask - where nt to indulge our money in to avoid terrible situations (financially i mean)...
So infy junta...start wid ur theories on this topic...

Robinhow thin salary package is infy offering now. when i joined it used to be substainsial.
well whatever you get you need to do somefinancial planning and keep your costs in check.
trust me whatever you get would me more than sufficient, but still depends on your lifestyle too

you have not joined infy yet and you are contemplating breaking the bond. It is for 1 year period and whatever the amount is, is that going to influence your decision to join INfy?

I am working as QA lead in US CA in bayarea. I have around 7 years of total IT experience. I always had flair for teaching and have around 4-5 yrs teaching experience while I was studying. Now I am planning to move to India and contemplating on a career in training.
I would like your input on whether there would be any openings for me at mysore training centre of infosys ? what could be the pay package and growth ?

I have was selected from feb 2005 written test batch.
My joining is on 20th June, 2005 at Mysore,
But due to certain commitments(only moral commitments no bond or any), I have made to my firm where I am currently working, I need some more time around 30 days more to smoothly handover my responsibilities.
I sent a mail to [email protected] regarding these issues, i got a reply, that if i do not join on 20th June, I will be accomodated in the next batch, which wuld b after six to eight months time from now but the batch dates cannot be gauranteed. The mail was sent by Mr. Sudheer from Infosys mysore.
Can somebody from Infosys Mysore or others help me on how to take this letter as. Or should i contact any other HR personnel to finally decide on the issue. Joining date around July 15 to Aug 15 would b ideal for me.
I wuld be really happy if anybody can send me some conact persons with mail ids or phone numbers. so that i can contact them and also give me personal views about going through this situation.
I am very keen on joining infosys.

To the best of my knowledge there are batches which will be joining on 8th Aug, there is no reason why they cannot accomodate you in that batch. There could be some logistics issues like hostel room allocation and all but nothing that cant be solved with a little effort.
MR Sudheer Pai is in charge of the training batches in Mysore DC. I suggest you talk to him directly on phone and make your situation clear to him. Check ur PM box, have sent in some details.
