Lets Keep it separate .As you all know IRMA GK is very different from GK asked in IIFT and SNAP, I am creating this thread exclusive for IRMA ISC(Issues of Social Concern) section.
Those who subscribe to this thread are requested to post some daily Gyaan related to rural sector.
Here are the topics for IRMA.
1. The Indian economy and issues relating to Indias national income and its composition; per capita income,
etc.
2. Millennium development goals, human development, HDI and its achievements by India.
3. Issues in demography: rural and urban population, sex ratio, etc.
4. Issues arising from the social and economic exclusion of large sections from the benefits of development
such as poverty and inequality: poverty levels; poverty line; disparities in income, employment and literacy
by rural-urban background, and gender and social groups like caste and religion.
5. Right to information; Issues relating to good governance and accountability to the citizens including the
maintenance of human rights, and of probity in public life.
6. Planning in India, 11th Five Year Plan- goal, targets and strategies.
7. Agriculture in India, crop and livestock production systems.
8. Approaches to rural development: basic features of target based approach, area based approach, right
based approach; participatory development, etc.
9. Rural poverty alleviation and development programmes goals, features and major achievements: green
revolution, operation flood, land reforms, NREGA, ICDS, IAY, SSA, and NRHM.
10. Institutions in rural development-policy, role, and characteristics; rural banks, NGOs, co-operatives, PRIs,
corporate social responsibility.
11. Health issues including the management of public health, health education, and ethical concerns regarding
health-care.
12. Primary education, regional variation in the level of education, educational status of different social groups.
13. Social movements, recent legislations on social issues.
14. Internal security, naxalism, and related issues such as the preservation of communal harmony.

1. PURA : Provision of Urban Amenities in rural Areas .

2. Bharat Nirman : A business Plan for rural Infrastructure.
- Provide Safe drinking water to all uncovered inhabitants by 2012
- Target for 1.2 crore houses for poor by 2014
- Achieve 40% rural teledensity by 2014,ensure broadband coverage to all 2.5 lakh panchayat
- Connect all villages with population of 1000 with an all-weather road by 2012
- Reach electricity to all villages by 2012

3. NSAP : The National Social Assistance Programme(NSAP) which came into effect from 15th August,1995 represents a significant step towards the fulfillment of the Directive Principles in Article 41 of the Constitution. The programme introduced a National Policy for Social Assistance for the poor and aims at ensuring minimum national standard for social assistance in addition to the benefits that states are currently providing or might provide in future. NSAP at present, comprises of Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS), Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS), National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) and Annapurna.

5.MNERGA :The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005.
The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act aims at enhancing the livelihood security of people in rural areas by guaranteeing hundred days of wage-employment in a financial year to a rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.
6.PMGSY: Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) was launched on 25th
December 2000 as a fully funded Centrally Sponsored Scheme to provide all weather road connectivity in rural areas of the country. The programme envisages connecting all habitations with a population of 500 persons and above in the plain areas and 250 persons and above in hill States, the tribal and the desert areas.
8.SGSY : Swaranjayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY) a holistic programme for promoting self empoloyment of rural poor.
- Covers all aspects of self employment of rural poor organization of rural poor into Self Help
- Groups (SHGs), capacity building of the Group through financial assistance, training, selection of key activities, infrastructure build up, technology and marketing support.
- Self Help Groups (SHGs) to be a national movement
- 11.47 lakh Self Help Groups already formed.
- Involvement of NGOs/CBOs/Animators for social mobilization, training and capacity building of Self Help Groups.
- 15% of the central allocation earmarked for sanction of projects for development of infrastructure and activity cluster.
The Ministry of Rural Development has decided to re-design and re-structure the on going Swarnjayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana (SGSY) into National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). The idea has been conceived as a cornerstone of national poverty reduction strategy.
The objective of the Mission is to reduce poverty among rural BPL by promoting diversified and gainful self-employment and wage employment opportunities which would lead to an appreciable increase in income on sustainable basis. In the long run, it will ensure broad based inclusive growth and reduce disparities by spreading out the benefits from the islands of growth across the regions, sectors and communities.
The National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), launched in Rajasthan's tribal district of Banswara in Jun 2011.
