Hey I got an interview call for October 21st...I am from Hyd (Chn)...
But I have a problem...I have a very very important family ceremony that falls on that very day and obviously cannot be postponed...and I would definitely like to postpone the interview if possible...is that possible...have any of you guys had any experience or tried doing it? Or do you have any idea if they consider such requests, considering the extreme importance of the ceremony? And what would be the right method and channel to proceed?
hey bro.. no sweat.. i'll switch dates with u

but seriously, just call ADCOM n tell them.. great team they have.. very responsive!

Guys now it is time to put an end to this. I already feel this is spamming the thread and taking us nowhere... "people" you can have different opinions and still be nice on the thread... :)

Okay guys i'll do that then..thanks a lot :)

and yeah I'm working with POWERGRID since august 2010, from NIT Trichy-8.4 CGPA, Class X-94% and class XII 90%, GMAT 710...
@lans3009 Thanks! all the best !!
Came across this interesting post... very informative.... (I felt)
@lans3009 Hi....I am a re-applicant, last year I had got my interview rescheduled because of some family problem; they had even accepted my request to shift it from Hyderabad to New Delhi. you have to just call the adcom people and provide good reasoning for shifting the interview.

your total work ex?
@kanusep12 2 years 3 months as of now...
guys all the puys who have reported iv calls till now have arounnd 2 to 4 yrs exp if I am not wrong...
anyone with more than 5 yrs exp who has got a iv call?
@kanusep12 bro, experience or GMAT score or acads aren't single determining factors.. I had under 3 years of experience when i applied last time n still ended up in the R2 waitlist.. so..

I was not predicting trends... :)

I was just asking if anyone with 5+ urs exp has got a call till now
@kanusep12 my bad

Guys, I was reading through the last year interviews and found that there is always a 1 word essay at ISB. What is that all about? and what sort of response one should provide?

@RavneetD I am a re-applicant and would like to mention that its nothing like the theory you are providing. The calls are truly random. On the day of my interview last year, I met people with quite diverse profiles and was kind of thinking "what am I doing here".
guy1: MD from USA in surgery, wanted to build his own hospital.
guy2: running his own cosmetics manufacturing firm.
guy3: senior manager in corporate strategy of Maruti
Lady1: working in a senior position for RedCross.....wanted to start her own NGO

@akm1983 there are several theories why B-Schools do this.. but on your part, exhibit clear precise thinking in what you write & of course, good english.. it is what these schools expect of their candidates..

And how much time is given to write your response? is there any said time limit or is it up to you to take as much time as you need?

As I understant... this is a validation test of slightly lower importance.... they give you a word and ask you to write about 150-200 words on it... mainly used to check your flow of thoughts and to compare with your essays in case the adcom feels you have not written your essays...
Source : some factual and some predictive :)

there is no specific time... there are some people who have been called for interview even before they could complete the essays.... in such cases the adcom asked them to complete it after the interview and give it to them
