I feel that not all applications undergo a fair treatment.
@neelnath Not being rude to any MBA college.... but I feel that applicants put so much effort into writing the essays and submitting the application.... but the colleges just play around.
I gave my interview along with 7 other and all of them were re-applicants except me .. All of them had 720+GMAT with. 2-5 yrs experience
Anyone has pdf or txt file with questions asked previous/this year.
Kindly share
@Miss_Bronte said:Sharing my interview expereince: I had my interview today at Delhi. It was really not a cakewalk, like some of the other B school interviews I had before (IIM/SP Jain/Symbi etc etc). They basically tore my application apart end-to-end; a lot of cross-questioning, and what ifs! I think I did fine because I didn't write anything I wasn't sure of or couldn't back up. But the clincher were the two guesstimates I got. One of them I did well. The other one I got nervous and fumbled, and arrived at a number which even common sense told me was way off! They laughed it off; but I am afraid that really could have messed up my chances Oh well, you live and you learn....at any rate you live
Thats so true ... I had my interview at ISB last year and IIMC this year. ISB's was surely a tough nut. Will be applying in R2 this time ... readying for the volley :)
@kanusep12 I agree.... just claiming to have known about a person from 1000 words and not taking interest in talking to the person looks sheer arrogance....doesn't suit some one who claims to be world class....
@ashu855 - U can refer post #2178 and #2180 for a consolidated list

@sudhir3127 So its not even about being a re-applicant - now am completely clueless! Do they give a feedback after rejection at this stage? Anyway, it was my last attempt - can't wait another year to do an MBA.

I can understand if this was followed when there were 5000 applicants... and they can interview only 9:1 candidates....
considering only 1300-1400 applications this time.... the could have afforded to interview more candidates....

They do give feedback.... but after 6-7 months....
I had my interview today in Delhi. The panel comprised 2 members: 1) Alumni (male) working with NDTV and 2) A women (who seemed extremely proficient in Finance). The theme of my discussion was Foreign Exchange Trading (which was the highlight of my application). Asked me what are suitable trades for the current market scenario... asked me, How is FOREX Trading different from gambling? Next the lady gave me a scenario.... The Chinese PM is going to change and there is a speculation that next PM is expected to remove the Yuan USD peg... what kind of trade would you do... I said.. short USDCNH (cuz CNH is currently undervalued) with a small capital and very high leverage (so that if i lose, I lose little.. but if I win, i win big).... Finally the lady questioning me said.. "You are a perfect gambler" ---- I dont understand if thats a positive or a negative thing.
Next they asked me about my long term goal...short term goal. --- I was adamant that my long term goal is to setup a currency based mutual fund in India (gave reasons around RBI regulations etc etc bla bla) and in the short term I would like to join some hedge fund or asset management firm.
I just have 2y 7m workex so they asked me.. wouldnt you want to gain more exposure before doing MBA? -- I answered that I am quite clear about my short term and long term goals and then gave reasons around how MBA would be instrumental in transforming my current carreer path to my desired one.. Delaying my MBA wouldnt really add value in any way
Asked me that if my objective was to become a forex trader/ fund manager then I could go for some certification rather than MBA - I clearly said that in addition to the coursework, I am looking forward to the network of classmates/alumni from diverse background.. who in due course would become industry leaders and would become prospective clients to my fund. I said I want to grow my network in India and what better plan than ISB bla bla bla..
Next they asked me about my backpacking experiences around Europe and Africa and then asked me about how ppl from these continents are different and what did I learn from those ppl.
I was asked where else had I applied and I replied that I was waiting for the 15th, then if not ISB then I would apply HK UST.. stressed that I wanted to do MBA in one of the Emarging Market nations and not US and Europe because of low ROI and uncertain economy. Then the lady chimed in and said... "Keeping ISB apart, you should also look at LBS because of your Finance focus" ---- THIS WAS REALLY UNSETTLING
On the whole.. it was a good interview from the Finance perspective. There was a moment when the lady interviewer stood up and said... "Give me a high five.. ". She also said "For Finance focused students like you, we have ppl like Prof Srini - who ppl consider the Finance God" also "We have boutique hedge funds who come for campus placements to get students like you who are interested in trading". There were also moments when I myself was not convinced by my own answers. Hence same as the remaining ppl 50-50.
But at the end of it all, when I was leaving the hotel, the male interviewer was also leaving. He spoke to me for a while and offered me a lift to my destination ... unfortunately I had to reject that because I had a flight to catch and had a friend picking me up from the hotel.
Praying hard for the 15th!

Last time they gave in May. It was a telephonic, they sent out the invite a week prior to the actual schedule. Since I was travelling the very same date I requested them to reschedule. I am yet to hear from them .

Ok guys! Methinks it's all over for me as far as isb is concerned, so just came to bid adieu to all friends. I thought that I have a pretty good experience, certifications and profile etc. and I was also confident about my essays and recos. But I am not sure what I lacked? GMAT score, may be. Not sure.
It's better to move on. I am applying to IIML and xlri gmp also, lets hope I get at least one of these or may be IIMI. Lets see.
All the best to all puys here, slimsawt, neelnath, carnivalof_rust, etc.May you guys/gals be successful in your endeavors. God bless!
@vix23 Bro Dont worry you will make it and ISB`s application scrutiny is a mystery so i guess it might just be luck...still most of us are in the wait for the final result and most of us will be in the que for next college as everyone here wont be accepted and will bump each other in different threads.....
Its life you fall and then you rise....dont worry ISB is not the end of the world...I have heard from different people that ISB has only 3 benefits 1 year course, less fees, good placements and India connection otherwise if you go for a US B-School then you have a much better education....so dont worry some day we might end up in the same organization working together....:)
so guys njoy the Diwali vacation & do the Lakshmi puja well...cos u never know when ur wish may come true..

Do they take that much time to find the reason behind rejecting you?
@kanusep12 I got the feedback last year but that was after interview and weird part was that the person I talked to had no transcript of my interview so he just told me "your application is very strong which is obvious by the fact you got an invite even with 1.5 years of experience, I don't know about your interview so give your best when you go for interview next" That way it was not very helpful - but do they give a feedback even if you are rejected at application stage!

good one buddy....
It has become a fashion now... people say your resume is read only for 30 sec to 1 min max and you will have to make an impression in that short span..... Seriously, does that make any sense?
I can go about like this with the faults in the system.... but no good will happen at the end of this.... so it is time to move on, there might be better things in store for us :)

Positive as ever....

Yes I have heard that ISB gives feedback even if someone is not selected for interview... This is something I like about ISB. This is in fact correct because... if you are n ot told what is lacking how do you expect one to get the things right when you apply for the second time.
