ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

@delatpg true that.. anyway if you are not comfortable do not add your details...
@vjmannur : actually i do not mind putting up my details. It's just that the whole idea of sheet does not appeal me. Any ways, do we have info from any source other than the app portal about the day i/v starts rolling out?

Hey puys, I have also added my details to the spreadsheet. Only 8 entries so far

Come on guys .... lets help each other.

I have added a sheet containing details of R1 applicants for easy reference. Feel free to delete the sheet if you want to.

Anyone else received application complete notification? My reccos were submitted on 5th late in the eve so mine must be far away from review.

@Sagarika21 Thank you for the information!
How is the prep going on guys? Have you started? Right now I am just noting points for regular interview questions.... Why MBA? Why ISB? Why now? Somehow I am not able to convince myself of the answers.

Hi Guys.

I am in the same bucket of R 2 applicants waiting for a completion mail. I have not started my interview preparation. I intend to kick my preparation off but don't have a direction. Can somebody guide me in this context ? How should I go about it ? What should I focus on ? Any structured approach ?

Regards
Pawan
Some tips that have helped me in job interviews:

• Create a repository of your stories. I know you must have done it for your essays, just add more stories. Have 2-3 stories for each situation and prepare such that you can tell the same story in different situations.

• Rehearse your answers by saying them out loud. Some things might look good on paper but may not sound so nice. You also don't wanna be catching for breath after every response.

• If you are planning to use some heavy adjectives to describe things, then it's a good idea to have backup adjectives. You don't wanna use a wrong one or be at a loss for words. If you get stuck, it's very difficult to come out of the embarrassment when you answer further questions.

• Have a "fumble response" ready. What would you exactly say if you goof up.

• Also, keep a line ready for what to say if you need some time to think.

• Practice smiling while talking. We look like dimwits if we continuously smile and talk for 30-40 min. But gotta do it in the interview. You don't wanna sweat just coz ur facial muscles got sore from a forced smile.

Please add your points puys.... What's your secret ....

I submitted my 2nd reco on 4th of December and still waiting for a confirmation mail form ISB regrading my application.

And as far as the interview goes, I am clueless as to what exactly I need to prepare for. It isn't a technical interview where one can quantify what you need to learn. An MBA interview is generic and can head into any direction depending on your response.

For my essays I prepared a long profiling document of around 15 pages which covered most aspects about myself. I later took the useful parts from that document and prepared essays of length 1000 words approximately and then condensed them to 300 words each.

So all I am planning to do right now is to go through my profiling document once again to prepare myself. It might be useful IF I get selected for an interview ;)

Also download your PDF application from ISB app site.

Before you begin, you shud be thorough with your application. Find out all the chinks in ur armour. Prepare short and long responses. Think about all the cross questions they can ask and prepare responses for each scenario you can imagine.

Look for profiles similar to yours and prepare responses to their questions from the 2 files. Then browse thru other debriefs and pick general questions which you can be asked.

After all this go thru this debrief:

Hope this helps. Your app is the most important piece of the puzzle. You can't really tell what they will ask you. Keep going thru alum blogs to get a complete picture of ISB. Don't overprepare.

That's all the free gyan I can give you. For personal coaching I charge $8372375 per hour

One negative aspect for me is that it has been almost 5 years since I faced a serious interview. I happened to conduct few interviews in the past 2 years but never got interviewed.

You WILL get selected. If you wrote 15 pages.... that shows how much efforts you put into it. Your essays must have come up pretty well.

To increase ur chances .... feed black cow white flour every tue & thu. Feed black cat milk every wed & fri .... (it won't help but will keep ur anxiety focused on finding these animals)
