@JoyNick Great.. It wud be amazing if u tell us d exact time you submitted your application...
@srm85 As per my info around 1200-1300 applied for R1.. And there waitlist are considered for interview.. And if total applicants are 4500-5000, R2 will be round of death making d competition very stiff... Too many applicants fighting for very few seats
@Aniket_87 I submitted my app at 11:20 pm on 30 November to be exact...n I think the number is for total number of applicants including R1 and not just for R2..
@JoyNick Thanks a lot for the update.. I think max 800 odd ppl cud have applied in last 40min making it total of 4000 applications... Still comparing to R1 1200-1300 applicants, there are 2700-2800 applicants in R2.. Its more than double...
yes...i guess you all are right...i had submitted application and recos on 16th nov and received the verification mail on 19th. my applicatio ref no. is 1413xx

I would imazine that there must be similar trend in the past and that ISB would have kept proportionate no of seats un-allocated for R2. Indeed it is competitive but compared to R1, I don't think it will be drastically difficult.

That sounds like a reasonable assumption. So if the no. of applicants are 2/3 of total then I suppose the seats would also be in the same proportion. Assuming that they call 80% of the applicants, 2250 will be interviewed for 450 seats. That's 1 out of 5 persons or 20% chance of admit for interviewed candidates. I think 80% calls is the wrong figure here. In any case odds will be between 20-25%.

True, I have been getting the same response from Alumni, current students and ISB profs in info session that there is not much difference between the ratio of applicants to admits in R1 and R2.
@raghupro Please see this link.www.rediff.com/getahead/report...ISB mentions that the selectivity is 8:5:1 - for every 8 applicants, 5 are interviewed and 1 is selected. This translates to roughly 60% applicants shortlisted for interviews.
Thanks for the info. That shows how important essays and reccos are.
To add to your point. After payment is successful, the application is compiled in a pdf file. I think that the application no. is assigned somewhere between payment and pdf creation. Someone said that 90% apps are submitted in the last hour (don't know how accurate this is), so there might be close to 4500-5000 applicants this year. If you consider app no. to be an accurate measure of that.
I dont think 90% apps in last hour are possible. Every one applying to ISB thinks himself to be smart . so he would like to submit in last hour and get in hitch of technical bugs on server due to excess rush etc. So there would be significant apps in last 2 days but not necessarily the last hour. My estimation for total application pool is ~3500 apps for R1+R2. And don't forget we have to figure in this ,the overseas applicants as well who have time till Jan 15 th. If by previous years data 5% are overseas admits. Then 2200+R1 wait-lists are in race for roughly ~425-450 seats.
@riddhibasu They require minmum 5 years wrk ex right???
Hi, the min. work ex required is 2 years, and average work ex is 5 years.
I have been a silent spectator so far. Introducing myself first: B.Tech. (Electrical) - Good acads so far Fairly good ECs 1 yr 8 months work ex - Automobile (in March 2013)
I am applying for deferred admission for 2014. Wanted to know the chances of getting a deferred admission. When I asked the alums in the info-session, they said they had not known 1 such case. I asked a direct figure to the adcom, he said not more than a dozen applicants were given deferred admission last year. Did not divulge any exact no.
Do we have someone here / someone presently in ISB who got deferred admission? Even if I am fighting against the odds, I would at least know if some odds could turn up favorably.
P.S: Received verification mail today. App was submitted on 29th Nov and received recos confirmation mail on 3rd and 4th Dec. night
