ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

@vjmannur Imagine the situation when you'll get an Interview call or even better an Admit! ;-).
@burmano may ur words come true...
@nit.tin Dude!!! Your acad record & extra-curriculars are just AWESOME!!! And U say u can get a ~750 in GMAT......Believe me, that's just near perfect profile to apply for a B-School.

Just focus on the remainder of your course at IIT and think hard on why you need an MBA.
And, of cors, get that great GMAT score!!!

All the best!!!
@vjmannur They surely will. All the best!!!
@burmano All the best to u too!!
hi everyone, i just want to get an idea if i have any shot in nri quota (if exists) my background is that i'm a dual (us/indian)citizen. i'm aiming for isb 2014. so i'll have close to 4.5 years of exp by then. I am a CPA by qualification. I"m currently working in SAP consulting now.I went to college in US graduated with 3.8/4 gpa from Va Tech. My GMAT is a downer as I only have 650. My profile might be a bit interesting due to my work experience. i worked as an auditor then quit to start a job in consulting in india ( i worked in hyderabad) and then worked in USA again. Do I have any shot? I dont think I can bring up my GMAT any higher.. damn data sufficiency questions!! I only got 4/14 of those. anyways, please share your inputs.
to summaryize: 650 GMAT w/ 4.5 years of exp. CPA (similar to CA) NRI.
@burmano : Thanks a lot! πŸ˜ƒ I spent the entire winter vacation pondering what I wanted in life! Though there is lot of introspection still to go and many more changes to happen. I'll continue to build over it! :)
@Suraj27 Profiling questionnaires always puzzle me... I personally think u urself is the best judge of whether u r good to go... If u have the confidence of convincing the adcom that u r good enough u will get through... its upto u to decide whether u believe in urself or not... I would say if u r confident then go ahead with any gmat u get...

hi @vjmannur , the reason i ask is that i believe that most people have been following this thread longer than i have to get an idea of what is a safe and an ideal ISB applicant. thus, i wanted to get inputs.

@Suraj27 With tier 1 business schools like ISB your overall profile matters rather than any individual aspect and above all, the way you sell yourself in the essays matters the most! I believe that most applicants already have a profile that makes them eligible to be part of good business schools like ISB but the only point of difference is with the way they project themselves.

Concentrate more on being clear with your career, both short term and long term. Justify the need of doing an MBA and the need of doing it right now. Try to analyse what you have accomplished right now and what do you want to do with yourself next. And does MBA help you to achieve your next step?

All I am saying is that try to sell your profile to yourself first and convince yourself that MBA is a natural progression to your goals and your career path. If you can do that successfully I feel that you can prepare a very good application (including essays and stuff) for any business school and will have a fighting chance to get into one.

All the best!
@raghupro Man now yu are advising like a pro....good...keep it up

Hi... any body through with R2 interview??

@rochak22 Thank you! :)
@RexGMAT I talked to someone who is done with his interview. It seems that the interview experience was pretty straight forward with most questions being about his leadership qualities and why MBA. The interview went on for around 18 minutes it seems.

Any clue on the 1 word essay, interview panel mix??

Looks like I am the only one who took a proper holiday break until today. So much activity since my last post.

I agree with the fact that the wait is very painful, but take it easy guys. What happens shall happen :)

No I/V call for me either. Net yet. :)

Here is my I/V experience, which I had on 22nd Dec. I was on vacation so please excuse me for the late reply. Btw I did meet another applicant who was "wait-listed for interview". So I wasn't an one-off case.

Profile in brief - Engineer(NIT Trichy) with 4yrs of work-ex as a System Software Engineer and 710 GMAT.
Word for the essay - Commit
My interview lasted for about 35 minutes. I wasn't asked any direct question which you guys haven't heard of.
Run us through your profile, Long term goals, Why ISB, Value add at ISB, Hobbies, questions for us. These are the 6 things I mostly spoke about.
I did try to extend my time on the hot seat by asking some interactive questions at the end of my interview, which was kind of abrupt to say the least.

I didn't have any mock interviews. No preparation as such apart from reading my essays 3-4 times en route to Hyderabad on my flight from Bangalore. I feel if you have written your essays sincerely, you should have all the answers they are looking for on your tips. The only tip I can think of is "Be patient", but what else can you expect from such a laid-back person Some of us are tested a lot more than others but your time will eventually come. Good luck !!!

@BharatG : Thanks for the valuable update... Could u get an idea on the interview panel mix?
@BharatG So you mean no direct questions on ECs and Essays??
@RexGMAT 2 Alums and an AdCom, most probably. That's the standard mix, I guess.
