ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

Hi Puys,

I'm new here.Been in and around CAT all till now, so this is a new ball game for me.
I have a couple of basic questions and the ISB FAQs do not address them.So please help me with the following:

I completed my B.E in Information Tech in May 2011 and started working with Cisco in July 2011.

1. So M I eligible for the intake in 2013. I will have about 22 months of work ex till then.Or is the work ex counted at the time of application.
2. If I'm eligible for the 2014 intake, when should I write GMAT and when does the application procedure start.

Pardon me if the questions are redundant.

Regards.

ISB prefers that the candidate should have atleast 2 yrs of work ex however they would consider candidates having lesser exp who have an exceptional profile.
Is your second question abt ISB application or GMAT

Thanks for the response :)
However, the question was, do i need to have 2 years work ex
a. When i get into ISB or
b. When i apply for it

And my second question is:
If I'm to plan to get into ISB in the 2014 session, when should i write GMAT and when should i send in my completed aplpication?

Your first question is very subjective as no one can tell for sure how good/bad is your profile is right now
Second: You can get reco from your supervisors in your company there is no need for a reco from client.
Books there are many : manhattan, OG, Kaplan etc I feel you should start with OG

I was hoping someone from ISB would have some idea about profile and how to improve it...
Lets see and wait for more answers.

And thanks for your recommendations for the books. I will surely have a look and start preparing.

Thanks again! πŸ˜ƒ

Work ex is counted till 31st march of the year u are applying.... for example in my case ,.... my work ex was counted as on 1st April 2012....
kya ho raha hai Puy lowg? PAdhai going on in full swing...?

Anyone knows when a feedback from ISB is expected? for dinged applicants? will they send a mail automatically aor we have to contact them?

Going back into slumber for GMAT preps..it is too bad. Hoping ISB tells me that my GMAT score was good enough and was dinged for other reasons. :nono: Then I will donate my books and forget about GMAT>

Profile evaluations k liye jo lowg puuch rahe hain... Please write to ISB and get it evaluated..and get yourself a counsellor.. It really superbly helps.!!

Regarding your question on applying with 22 months of workex, who will know better than me how hell bent ISB adcom is, on that 24 months workex criterion

My suggestion - apply for Co2015 (2014 intake). Unless, of course, you do not mind a deferred admit. But then again, there is no harm in trying - who knows, you might be the trend breaker

All the best.

I needed suggestions regarding
a) my profile - what and how to improve?
b) From whom should I think of getting recommendations from? (since I am in a product based company, no specific interactions with clients.)

I am planning to appear for GMAT by June, this year. Of course I will try to get most out of it. (Any books/mock tests suggestions are welcome).

Profile gets built around your personal and professional goals. I do not think it is a good idea to do things you are not interested in for the sake of an MBA admit. Plus, it really is how well you perform at work (and a tad bit of accomplishments outside work) that will make your application surface amongst thousand other applicants'. Provided, you build your story well, incorporating your post-MBA goals.

My $0.02 - Your acads look brilliant, I'm sure you will crack GMAT too. Browse back a few pages on this thread. There has been quite some substantial discussion on strategies and resources for GMAT preparation.

Recommendations - I would suggest, get these from people who know you, your capabilities, achievements and aspirations closely at a personal level. IMHO, the referee could be a high-flyer in his own field but if he doesn't know you well enough, the reference will turn out to be very generic - not a good sign.

All the best πŸ˜ƒ

Guys count me in for Mission 2014.

I am a fresh applicant and have been a silent spectator of this thread for quite a while.I could see many re-applicants here.Did any of you(re-applicant) recieve feedback from ISB on the app???

Del,

Even the waitlisted candidates are waiting for their rejection mails leave alone the feeedbacks. I think people will start getting feedbacks from end April onwards.

what about you anuj.....on which side of the fence???

Ankita,

Whatever Sarvajna has said is absolutely correct. Nobody can give you a feedback about your profile.
MBA is not about your CV. Its about your perception and ambitions. What you have scored or what you have played/done can only carry you to some extenct but after that it's your vision that will have to take you on a ride. What I am trying to say is that for MBA every profile is good. It's how you write your essays, taking your past and future into consideration, that is more important. And ofcourse the interview after that. I am pretty much sure if you go and ask the ISB authorities they are not going to discourage you with that CV.

Hi everyone,

hey ccsd,

admissions open so soon? i believe class of 2013 just receiving accepts / rejects.

By the way there are two rounds where applicants can apply for admission right?

So if one doesn't apply now, can apply in later half of year for class of 2014?

Can a person rejected in first round apply again in second?

thanks in advance
