ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

@atalb Yes, the trend in coming decades may change as the playing field is changing with respect to the evolving industries and business education.

I agree that the fact that most top firms' CEOs are not MBAs, does not elicit any solid correlation between "CEO" and "MBA".

I found this article interesting - How to become a CEO πŸ˜ƒ MBA is nowhere mentioned, but perhaps the qualities, that MBA helps develop, are stepping stone to become a CEO.

@punters11 Long time since the last theory was proposed. Let's bring back the devil.
I remember reading somewhere in an interview experience - the candidate was asked about how much he follows this particular forum. Did he participate in the forum or has remained a silent observer. Not sure what the panel wanted to gauge.
But, the ISB formally participates on this forum and the school's website has a link to a particular PG thread. So would it be safe to say that the adcom might be keeping a watch over us. Ofcourse most of us do not have our real names on our profiles. Just messing around now you have reminded me of the most awaited email since a long time in my mailbox

I had applied in R2 and I have not received any notification 😞 What does that mean? By when do people get interview notification? I see people already getting interview calls. Anybody I can contact to get that confirmed?

Alright, straight from HBR - The correlation between the Performance of CEO and MBA degree.

In the wake of the financial crisis, MBAs were accused of being value destroyers. We supplied the debate with some contrary data in 2010, showing that the average MBA ranked 40 places higher in the study sample than the average non-MBA. We saw similar results in this year €ℒs list. In this case, we did not discover that CEOs of certain nationalities benefited more from an MBA than others.

I agree with you on the way things happen in most large organisations but if I were to promote someone in my company I would be more inclined towards their performance rather than their educational qualification alone. If both perform equally good then even I will choose the one with an MBA
Just another viewpoint - Considering both have performed equally well, after you promote an MBA, don't you think this step will lead to the non-MBA person quitting the firm and pursuing an MBA.
@reecha Whats your interview location? If it is Hyd, then you have until first week of Feb before you practically lose hope.
@atalb How about telling non-MBA to do Part-time (Weekend/Evening) MBA so that he meets the requirements to get promotion after completing MBA and at the same time he will probably not have to quit your organization to pursue MBA?

BTW, does ISB have any plans to start offering Evening/Weekend MBA courses anytime soon?
@kumarPritam Too many variables here. let's consider one of them - both of them are performing similar roles and the question of promoting one of them comes up. Here, why wouldn't one promote a non-MBA for matching the performance levels of an MBA. Rather, an MBA needs to be given a warning that he better be raising his levels.

In most cases a firm rarely compares performances of two employees who are on different planes, with regard to the degree they hold or the years of exp under their belt.

Anyway, telling a non-MBA to go for business education, part-time or full time, in order to get promotion is kind of berating his performance. Just an opinion.

I don't think ISB will try to monitor each applicant's activity on Pagalguy. They will trying to analyse general perspective about the college and about the interview I guess :)

You never know if one of us is actually an AdCom undercover, snooping around in his spare time and playing god by introducing twists in the app process. And then take a lazy seat back on a Sunday watching gleefully over the turmoil he causes in this forum.

Haha..that would be interesting! However, they might just have enough on their plate already.

@atalb the most awaited email will come on Feb 15

Thants Smr85, thats one of the sweetest things someone has ever said to me.. Thanks !!

Ok, Interview Over :
Got the word 'Perfect',
Last year my panel was kind of rude to me, and hadnt even let me complete all my answers.

This year complete opposite,
3 alumni, who were most simple and most humble. They stood up to greet me. Asked pertininent questions mainly related to my essays and a bit of cross questioning in my profile .
3 calm expresion faces, nodding heads.
I dont know if they were satisfied with my answers but they let me finish all my answers, very good listeners, in the end asked me if any questions for us,
I asked how is the alumni collaboration.
and one of them said, "We have come from our personal time to make sure we only select the best into the college and all here are alumni, so you can make out by that alone how committed the alumni is."
Then finally all three again stood up, One alum wished me "All the best" , and another saw me to the door.
All in all I enjoyed my interview.

My faith in ISB is restored, selected or not.

Hey puys, I'm an IT guy and I would like to know if being in IT will hamper my chances of an admission?

@crackster @delatpg @srm85 Hope we become classmates soon

Hey... Glad to see such nice experiences. Did they ask anything pertaining to current affairs ?
