ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

Hey guys
I am having a unique problem these day, as per my 10th, 12th, engg and passport, I just have a first name(no family name or any last name) and in GMAT the last name is mandatory(apart from first name ) What should I do ??

A space or a dot could work as a surname substitute. Have you tried that?
Hi puys,
Back in Feb when the ISB R2 results were out there was a talk that ISB would give feed back to rejected candidates in April. Its April now and i was wondering if anybody has managed to get a feed back, if so please let me know how to go about it.

There are several people waiting for feedback. I am not too sure whether ISB can give everyone who applies feedback. However if they have assured you of getting feedback then give it a little bit longer. If you still do not hear from them by the end of the month then send them an email.

Best,

Roshan

Hi,
I have a question. I took GMAT in Mar 2012 and was supposed to apply to various schools in couple of weeks from now. But, the situation now is that I may have to move abroad for appx 2 yrs. The question is whether I should apply to ISB ( with avg age 27 years) or IIMs, and try to get a defferement for a year, which will allow me to come back and join, or come back and apply then , in 2014 again.

My apprehension is that I may be too old for our B schools by then, I currently have a work ex of 7 years and by the time I come back it will be 9 years. I work in an IT consultancy firm and do not have an international exposure, so this trip abroad may help me with that aspect.

Please help me decide!!

I find too many if's and but's here.Considering you get an admit from ISB,deferment is still a far-fetched thing.Any B-school may defer candidates only if it find the reasons to be genuine. In your case, you have your reasons for deferment before the begining of application season which may not go down well with the adcom.Secondly, a deferment is allowed only till the next admit cycle of a college, in ISB case a year, but that won't serve your purpose since you want to delay it by a couple of it.Thirdly, any age is the right age for an MBA till the point you can justify the need to the adcom. But everything boils down to the mother of all the questions that what do you seek from your MBA and how does it fit into your future plans??

Hi Neha,

Since you have already taken your GMAT and if you are not sure about your travel plans, you should apply while you have time to do so.

Hey,
Im a reapplicant. Actually I got into IMTG and have already quit. But wondering if I can apply to ISB while studying in another institute

MBA 2012 Says

Sure, you can apply even if you're enrolled somewhere else however you might be asked questions around why you're leaving your current course so be prepared and have good answers!

Hi Satyamism,

Your profile looks really good.I cant really figure out as to why you got rejected.

IMTG you mean IMT Ghaziabad?
So you applied thru CAT? Please share your experience as to why did you decide to quit? Isnt it good enough?
As far as my knowledge goes , people with 1 or 2 year exp opts for IMT , whereas ISB is good enough for people of 3-10 alike...
It would be great if you can share your profile.

Hi, my profile is as follows:

10th: 87%
12th: 62%
B.Tech: 7.305 CGPA (Biotechnology) (I had 6 backlogs in B.Tech)
GMAT: 720
W.E. 36 Months (IT)
International Experience: NO
Extra Curricular: Decent (Volunteering for an NGO from 2 Years, Writing for a national magazine from 1 year)

My concern is can an awfully bad score in 12th stop me by doing MBA from ISB? I can wait for another 2 years to get a 5 years of experience if I get a very good chance to get in.

Can I apply and get into ISB?

If at all there's any problem can you please suggest me for improvement in my profile?

Joining in the re-applicants bandwagon. While I was not very active last time around, I intend to change it this time around. So much for the rhyming.
The class of 2013 would have joined in today and will experience one helluva roller coaster ride! Having spent a lot of time in retrospection as to what went wrong and awaiting feedback, I have now kick-started my GMAT prep since I am anticipating that it is one of the chinks in the armour. Planning to take it with the IR section i.e. after 5th June. Anybody planning to join in is more than welcome! I have not seen much material on practice of the IR as of now.
Just a piece of info for the people prepping up for GMAT, the official GMAT prep software with the IR section is now available on the official site and it is not affecting the older version i.e. both the installations can co-exisit. This means that people having both the setups can use 4 official GMAT tests.

Have had like almost 2 years through on the application process wherein did not apply for CO 2012 and got dinged without interview for the CO 2013. So hoping to keep up on this thread this time and also chipping in with all the info accumulated since almost last 2 years.

:w00t::wow::-o man! was it a bungee jumping or something of that sort? isn't that river with strong current, with rocky and shallow base?

btw when did u give gmat?

I read the GMAT this recently finished month.
Yeh, πŸ˜› it was a lean Beas when I took the dive in.!!

Any chances to get into ISB or should I aim higher than the nominal 680?
I wish to be an entrepreneur, and I wish to establish a manufacturing unit, however, there are some tricks and trades that i need to master in the business administration arena!

I hv 6+ exp in retail banking, GMAT 680!! with good acads & decent extra curricular. How r the opportunities in shifting to Investment banking profile.

Ravi

Had emailed the pgp email id for feedback.
Have received an email asking me to write to them again in may.
Guess we have to wait for that "feedback".

When are you planning to reapply - R1 or R2? There will hardly be three months after you get the feedback....
