ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

@sid28 i THINK UR I/V WAS IN RIGHT DIRECTION AND THEY WERE JUST TRYING TO FLOW WITH YOUR IDEA. HAD THEY BEEN UN-INTERESTED THEY WOULD HAVE NEVER DELVED INTO MARKET VENTURE AND STRESSING U WITH "UR IDEA WONT WORK". May be they were just trying to gauge ur basic understanding of marketing ur product since u r into entrepreneurship.

I don't think ISB would have not thought about exhausted panelist. So chill and relax till 15th. :)
@sid28 Don't worry too much about it dude. The more they question about something the more they are actually interested in. They just want to test how far have you analysed your long term goals and how well have you laid a foundation for it.

And as far as similar businesses are sustaining equally well goes, I am not a firm believer of it. I am more passionate about building a huge venture and to build a huge venture you have to be different and you have to have a unique selling proposition. It is a very simple logic, "If your idea can be replicated as soon as you talk about it then you already lost the game". You have to have something that can be done by you only to sustain on a long term.

@waterman Change of career is a life long process which has three parts namely change of function, change of industry or both. When you will become senior with work ex then director of the board is something which you will seek for in a company. During this continuous career changes through out our life our recommndors would be definitely our peers with diverse background lets take example of the doctors at ISB enrolled for PGP who have their unique industry experience and a BDM profile can join them to promote their business and their industry specific product. I hope this example may be of help.
I agree to your point on career change that can happen with a better network in the longer run, I was referring to ease/toughness of career shift while doing a business program. IMO, It is the same anywhere give or take minor advantages. Ultimately it boils down to how solid your pitch is and how your past can bridge the gap between the done and gonna do.

I am a little late in posting this. But better late than never.I/v on 20th Jan 530PM Delhi
In terms of qs, started with general goals and stuff, and then i got grilled over my long term goal of being an entrepreneur.
Dude, My interview was similar to yours. I came out with a bitter feeling that why could not they see my achievements and strengths. They probed around my goals, stressed me out and tried to convince me that my plan is not right. Being a man who sticks to his stand I did not budge. So did you, I guess. Hope the result is gonna be sweeter. Cheers.

Came across this nice tutorial on guesstimate questions in interviews.

@anshilgoel hi did you make a request to change the interview from Mohali to Delhi or only ISB changed the schedule..I have my interview in Mohali ..so are all the Mohali interview are shifting back to Delhi ?
Puys, Just done with my Skype Interview. It was a two person Panel. Mr. Kannan and another girl Neha (Alumn/current student). There was no grilling. At the same time the conversation did not go for long. It ended exactly in 16 minutes.
Here are the questions.
1. You have close to 8 years exp. Talk about challenges.
I said technology change management was the biggest challlenge.
2. How did you handle?
Answered.
3. But you are an independent consultant and not part of big company. So you dont have to worry about the change management. What was your challenge? (Read - Apni aukaadh pe baath kar)
I said, being independent is like painter job in your home and any day you can cut him out. To me to be successful I have to create a value for my presence everyday to continue my engagement and this is my biggest challenge.
4. You said you want to enter M&E; in Analytics space. But in India there is hardly any talk of that. What opportunity do you see?
You read any research material from Deloitte, KPMG or PWC about this industry, all of them agree that M&E; is undergoing a great change in the next 2-3 years and elaborated on this on how this industry shift because of FDI and DTH penetration will generate new opportunities.
5. Have you had any M&E; experience prior?
No
6. You made a movie and became a revenue sharing partner? Did you negotiate terms with Youtube? (EC)
I told I could not as I had only one movie on hand.
7. Eloborate on revenue sharing model of Youtube. (This is my EC)
Eloborated.
8. You are a member of AP Cine Writers Guild. Why did you take this membership? (EC again)
Answered.
Any questions for us?
Asked One question.
Tata bye bye...
That's it. No standard why MBA/ISB/Now questions. But again all the answers I gave were the ones I practiced and that helps a lot. So practice practice.
Nice poker faces they maintained. Couldn't make out anything. Waiting for feb 15th now.
For people preparing for i/v, feel free to PM me and I will help out in anyway I can. All the i/v material on PG is helpful but I feel only you can predict ahead on what questions you might be asked for your profile and you have to gather them and vet the answers out.

just called isb...they said the last set of invites for isb have just been sent out....

for mohali**
@udyansharma , Wish I can come.. But I am at office today and 😞 😞 ... I will try to make it but a bit late..
@cyberabadi : I like this "Nice poker faces", they made faces in front. I could not make out if they liked my answers/understood them or what.. I also felt that I could have touched some more important facts in my interview.. They tried to understand "in-depth" how much I know about the venture I want to start.

@ishita. Thanks a lot for the info..
@sid28 Dude I understand why you thought interview didnt go that well or what better you could have had done.
But I think it went well mate.
All the Best.

Now focus on the most difficult task. Do something with your life till 15th Feb :)
Besides refreshing this page :)
