The more you call, the more varied responses would be and the more tensions would prevail.
Reply from IIM A- I am eligible but what I should focus on is the class profile. Avg exp is 7 to 10 years with INTERNATIONAL EXP OF AROUND 4 to 5 years.
I understand that while working abroard with people from different cultures, one learns ways to deal with them. But seriously is it that important? Is it that important that it might become a rejection criteria for some? If yes, please help me understand this. This question is bugging me from long time.
After the Arsenal fan's post, the next 15 days suddenly became very very interesting.....
@heman2727 said:@sid28 Thanks for your reply. Will definitely let u know if i get an answer.I am posting this query again (assuming very few puys would have read it)Hi, everybody. I have a generic doubt. Why colleges such as IIM A PGPEX emphasize so much on international exposure? Now, how can I say this? Recently, I had dropped a mail to IIM A regarding eligibility criteria for their PGPEX program. My age shall be 27 years by next year but my experience will be around 5 and half years by March 2014. Whereas IIM A PGPEX has mentioned experience around 6 to 7 years. Reply from IIM A- I am eligible but what I should focus on is the class profile. Let me speculate. There could be various reasons. A school will not clearly tell you why it does this, otherwise their selection criteria would get compromised.
Every school has its own criteria. They are indirectly telling you that they value international experience more. Every school plays to a certain audience (prospective students). If they feel that their class would be enriched by students with international experience, then they will pursue these criteria. It could also be that over the years, a trend has set in. They might be getting so many international exp applicants that they give more weightage to them. From what I have heard, many people join IIMA to come back to India. And by being selective about this criterion, they are sending a message that IIMA is the best school for such people. It wants to attract that specific group of applicants. Also, it might depend on the roles for which students get recruited from IIMA. Ultimately students have to be absorbed by the market. IF the companies that come to IIMA are not interested in those profiles then it creates a problem. So ultimately placements indirectly drive the student selection process.
@Kode_A said:@srm85 Good analysis bro.Even though the points mentioned seem pretty obvious it is always good to specify them clearly.I mean IIM A PGPEX ranks better than ISB coz it choose senior level managers for their batch.People with 3 - 6 yrs of exp should rate ISB higer than IIM AThis whole MBA preparation has helped me understand myself better. Break limits which I had put on my own thinking.Irrespective of what happens on 15th Feb, I know what I want from life and I shall work for it Cheers,
The last year has been a journey of self-discovery for me. I have learned so much about myself. I am hoping for the best on 15th. Let's see how it goes.

@srm85 said:@heman2727 It would be really nice if you got a chance to speak to a few alumni as well as current students. ISB is really good in this matter. You can meet the alumni at info sessions. And there are many active students/alumni on pg as well. I think you might find someone to talk to in IIMA threads. They will also try to be politically correct at times, but only they can give a clearer picture.
@engineer.22 said:@harshadsgsits what's your profile like?
Had my interview yesterday in Delhi. It started off pretty well and the panel asked me everything but about my profile and other relevant questions. The adcom lady was busy looking into the mirror and hardly asked me questions. The alumn spoke to me in Hindi throughout. I was taken aback by the kind of questions they asked me. Whenever I tried to answer, they used to cut me back and jump onto some other question. It lasted for about 22 minutes. No idea what to make out of it but walked out of the room with a question on my mind "They are going to judge me on the basis of this?"
The word that I got was DECORUM. I wrote utter crap and if by any chance they happen to read it, I will be black listed forever.
