U mean you didn't have to write essays or anything? So, shortlisting criteria is only GMAT & Acads?

Hey guys. Myself Kaushik Ghosh. I am currently working in State Bank of India as Assist. Vice President for past 3.5 years. I handle the sanctioning of loans to Mid Corporates with turnover ranging from 50-1000 cr. It entails analysis if balance sheet, Industry analysis, and various oter banking parameters along with RBI guidelines. I have 91% in 10th 83% in 12th and 61% in B.Com (H) from DU. I would be grateful if you could enlighten me on the kind of preparation required for CAT, XAT and IIFT to get into top IIMs and the remaining 2 colleges. Thanks in advance.

I wanna start off a discussion so that we can be more constructive in these last few days.

How do you think ISB judges "Fit" for its PGP program? And how does Diversity factor into it? For eg: An IT male vs say someone from PSU background

My GMP Interview experience:

My GMP was after ISB's.

net day rather.

17th afternoon @hyd was ISB and 18th afternoon Mumbai was GMP (ask me about hectic schedule 😞 )

Interview went fine.

They asked me about my current job. I am working in Doha, Qatar so few questions were on Qatar and Middle east.

Then it was on why MBA ?

but all this was more of a discussion than molestation that happened at ISB.

And coz I was fresh and kinda prepared for stress and molestation, GMP one felt nice and good.

They told something about Jamsedpur.

Well for some reason bar was mentioned, and one of the panel member told me they have a new Sports bar at Jamshedpur.

As a reflex my response was "good, so if I reach there, their beer sale shall shoot up for sure"

And they all grinned at me, and I realized I was getting way too comfortable and forgot its an interview :)

but over all it went well, the panel looked impressed and quite supportive.

But thing is, this was response of almost everyone who has gone for GMP.

It is going to be a 15 month course, to avoid some service tax issues. last 3 months are speculated to be intership program.

And after listening to quite a few expert advises from gurus on PG 😃 GMP shall be a good option if ISB doesnt happen.

I might not be able to switch from Marketing to Finance, but I ll assume I was never meant to be a finance guy :)

But GMP is good for consultancy jobs ??

@punters11 - Bro I sincerely think its impossible to predict what ISB is up to.

What they go for I think is exceptional profiles. And I think more than what a person is, what matters is what the person whats to be.

You actually said this in an interview, I guess you followed the "Be Yourself" tip to the tee.

And on another note, why do you say ISB i/v was a molestation??

@ammo44 How much importance do you think ISB gives to Acads?Do you think a high GMAT is absolutely necessary to compensate for it? I have average acads ( but from a premium insti), good work ex. , and GMAT 690. Can you please give your insights on this please? Also, can you recommend some good test series and question bank ( only, please) for GMAT other than MGMAT , KAPLAN and GMAT Prep? Your inputs would be helpful.
