I would say that Mohali would be better for networking. Smaller groups are more cohesive. By the end of the year you will get to know ALL the people. But such a possibility is rare at Hyd. With 550 students, you are part of a large crowd. And it is not feasible to reach out to everyone. At Mohali, there is a high chance that you would bump into each person twice or thrice. Since it is a new campus, everybody will be working harder for it's success, which in turn would make the connections stronger. And since ISB tries to have similar profiles across both campuses, you don't need to worry that you will miss out on something.
Absolutely. You are right in your place. What I was trying to say is that, as a b-school student, although it is important for me to forge strong friendships over the course, it is equally important for me to know as many people as possible. Precisely why, a large alumni base and footprint in regions is a strong point of consideration for choosing a b-school.
True that everyone is working harder for its success, but surprisingly, there were proportionately less candidates from Mohali standing up to contest for leadership positions in professional and social clubs, as compared to Hyderabad this year.
But of course, when we are talking about faculty and courses offered, Mohali & Hyderabad are the same. However, it is also true that recruiters still identify ISB with Hyderabad.
i am completely disheartened :( with 7.5 years of experince in IT , i do not knwo what to now.
I used to think that reseach and development was teh best (read intelligent) profile to be in in IT. but with the this mba thing on i have realised it actually is not.
In RnD we hardly ever get any onsites, and it has affected my profile badly
also, the anomaly id taht i have low score in Btech - 58% but considering my exp is in research which means i am supposed to use all tht i chud have learned in btech..which again means i am gud at it even though i did not get a gud score in coll..but still colleges say that coz of percent i am nto being considered ...
Don't be tensed at all, because none of the questions u will be asked will be over the top. U will find such calm and chilled out interview panel which will make u actually feel uneasy about them π
Just be sure to wait, think for a second or two before you answer the questions.. U will get through for sure :)
No, dude. I do not have details on this. But very good question. Will check with my friends However, if I am not wrong, ELP is usually with NGOs or startups. We're not expecting the consulting big 4s to come for ELP, I hope!
Thanks. I checked out the ELP brochure. These projects are not just with startups. It has some big names like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, IBM, Bain, Goldman Sachs, PWC, Merck, J&J;, Novartis, etc.

I agree that recruiters still identify ISB with Hyderabad, afterall for 10 years it was called "ISB Hyderabad".
About the clubs: I thought that the clubs functioned independently at both the campuses. If you visit club websites, they have different core committees at both the locations. Now I am confused :(

Yes, they do. What I meant was that, if Consulting Club had 10 people contesting for the leadership position at Hyderabad, it was less than 4 in Mohali. These figures are only an example and not accurate!!!
@rochak22 No rochak, I checked with Mr Srinath and he stated that earlier acknowledgments were manually sent by the ISB admissions team and this mail has been generated since the details have now been fed into the system and is an auto generated one.

I know how it feels to be dinged without an interview. Even I share a similar profile as yours and am dinged without an interview. If you are not very desperate on your MBA this year, which you can't help now, I would recommend that you do some extra-currics to stand out next year - may be an NGO experience, or pursue a hobby. Perhaps, you might want to take some local/online courses that align with your future goals. For example, if you wish to pursue strategy consulting in future - take some good online courses on Strategy (I am currently pursuing a few from Coursera - I wish I did some of these courses before applying). In short, your re-applicant essay next year has to be significant to fetch that coveted interview call. Regarding Plan B - you may apply to B Schools in Europe/Singapore - they still have deadlines. Else, take some time off - go to the himalayas - re-introspect and re-energize yourself - come back and go for the kill !!!
I think the mail from ISB is not a technical glitch. If it has only been sent out to the people who received I/V calls, then that makes it all the more interesting. CAT 2010 also had something similar in January 2011, the results could be accessed a week before the actual date for an hour. The gmat score mails have been received either by people who have made the cut or have not! π (mostly the former)

Folks,
I empathize with you both. Especially because I have a similar profile as yours. Low +2 score, no onsite experience and what not. But you'll still get a call at ISB kida places if you make up in other ways.
I had similar concerns as you both. But I also commanded some other advantages and could market them successfully. I am offered @ IIMA. At ISB it is a WL though but that bothers me less.
@rohitsaAll the very best to you.Don't be tensed at all, because none of the questions u will be asked will be over the top. Thanks a lot buddy. I am trying to stay as calm as possible, but there is always something that comes up in my mind and I think, Oh!!! How am I going to answer that??? haha haha. It's like there is a big fight and I just keep thinking about the moves that the opposition can make.
But thanks a lot for the tips. Its only because of you guys that my preparation is going good.
@MBAspirant10 π I hope that is the case, but generally the official statement is always on those lines. During the 2011 CAT case as well, the ad com came out with something similar (We were testing and blah blah) But I would not be surprised if this was a precursor to the results. I did not get the mail, So I hope it certainly is not the case π
