ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

@rohitsa I had got into SP Jain's GMBA last year.It is decent course. At least enough to not let it go if you have the admit in your hands.But I was literally forced to not join, give ISB another try.Got interview call this time. I feel it was worth the risk.
so you had an offer from SP that you declined?

@MissWorld I had an offer, I paid the advance money. Put papers in my company. Spoke to this very senior person in my company (GM level) who said I am an idiot to compromise on my dreams so soon. Asked me to trust him and give ISB another shot.

I cancelled my resignation, sent mail to GMBA to defer my admissions by a year, they agreed. Was supposed to join Apr'13. But neither they followed up nor I went and asked for admissions.

See my reasons where different. I am already in Gulf (Qatar is next to Dubai). The Salaries that are offered post GMBA in Dubai, I am already earning almost the same, one switch and I shall earn a lot more. Hence there was no point in going for the course.

+ I genuinely wanted to come back to India to pursue my dream of doing my bit for Indian Sports Sector. 25Lacs for GMBA hence made no financial sense.

I strongly feel GMBA should not be used to get a job in India. College and the students both should use this opportunity to fine a good opportunity outside.

I had different plans. GMBA was costly and was nothing that I wanted from a MBA.

Even now if ISB doesnt happen, For the post MBA plans that I have, Narsee Monjee seem to help me more than XLRI's GMP (not that I have admits from anywhere, just planning like Rohitsa πŸ˜ƒ )

@Daemon_hunter The trends?

So about that 448 member on FB group, one of my friends from ISB (alumnus) said that in his time there were 550 admits but number of people on FB group was more than 800. But it does get interesting here on PG because of all the confusions & theories.

Anyone here aiming for INSEAD Jan'14?

gotta love all the theories.. now the FB group one...

BTW.. its very obvious how hard working we all are.. weekdays we have 4-5 pages approx each day.. while on Sat-Sun.. I think we have a total of 4 pages...

PS.. Yes, I am really jobless

no wand remember?? my hands are supposed to be busy trying to hold onto that branch! Remember Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire???
@punters11 In capable hands of our punter, even a branch can act as a wand
@Kode_A your choice seems reasonable πŸ˜ƒ the first part sounds like a scene from film πŸ˜‰ but on a serious note some things really happen for good. the decision makes sense.. you are lucky enough to have someone guide you in situations like that..... I have gone thr' SP GMBA ads in papers and website..the course is mainly focused on Intl business..it is not for those who wish to stay in India post MBA..all in all it does not seem to be exciting enough..i am sure the results will be +ve for you. ATB for friday
@MissWorld All the best to us all :)

well.. Since nobody posted the ritual countdown comment I shall do the honors...

2 dayyss to goooooooo!!!!

lets hope that "On or before Feb 15, 2013" happens, for once, so that we can all get on with our normal lives

@muni87 I really miss my normal life :)
@garima.agrawal .......Hi Garima,

Absolutely no intention to Mock you guys since I too was in the same shoes a couple of months back.

@srm85

Though there are around 448 + people on FB, only 140 odd are actually admits(there are people who are joining the FB now as well) and rest are current alums. Also there are a lot of R1 admits who are yet to reveal their identities....so honestly, even we do not know the exact figure.

Don't be anxious about the figures,I would say.

Just keep praying the Lord and hope for the best !!!

Best Regards,
Himanshu.

No you don't. You crave for this excitement :)
@rohitsa about Great Lakes.. I agree with @raghupro on ROI... its doesnt have brand value and more so, they arent even doing much to improve. Moreover, I had got thru GL last yr.. and i had a talk with few of the alums who work in my org;they straight away asked to drop my plans to go there.. just for the fact that it has increased its fees to 14.5L..and there placements arent too good as well..

However, I personally think that GL is sort of mini-ISB and is progressing slowly and steadily..everything on similar patterns.. the founder Mr. Bala is just awesome but thats it.. its like GLIM is just one man's vision, nothing beyond that.. and it wud be good if u also research on whether ur post MBA goals wud be met there or not..for me it didnt..and hence I chose to drop out..
@MissWorld and @Kode_A I would like to differ from your statements on GMBA ... my fiancee is about to complete her course from Dubai this March and she is placed and is placed well in India itself ... its a good place to be in ... obviously not compared to ISB, but i think it can beat GL hands down, because of the exposure you get and the people you meet on the campus and those who do not want to come back to India ... its a good gateway :)

@him2asu Thanks for the info :)
@punters11 This is not really an excitement. This is like "what cannot be cured has to be endured" type of situation.
