In the case of re-applicants, the committee evaluates the application in the light of his previous views, ideologies and long term vision. They want to know what values you have added and how much you have improved from your last attempt. Although the way of asking questions changes but in a broader sense we will take it the same this year too. So considering that, it is safe to assume that you may change your achievements but this will be disastrous to change your long term vision. It will be difficult for you to explain how your ambitions changed altogether in such a short span of time(unless you rephrase your answer).
hope that helps.
Anuj bhai, Value adds are fine. Improvement is fine. Long term vision requires modification dude.. Somehow, someway I have to link opening an IB as my goal to getting into IT Consulting.. I can sell IT consulting to them because I have been doing that for the past year or so.. and I have done nothing that is even miles close to what an IB firm does.. What I wrote in my app was a fairytale story I guess. :|
Just for the record, my long term goal is still opening an IB but was not able to sell it properly and my qualifications (IIM) do not help either.
by seeing profiles am thinking that should I start prep or not my profile
1. 10th 79.8% in CBSE 2. 12th 56 in% state board (sucks π ) 3. BE in IT 61% VTU, Karnataka (M S R I T) 4. done my final year project in IISc, Bangalore 5. having 3.5 yrs of exp as of now. 6. some social work as well 7. low in xtra curricular ( can say just watch cricket)
wt u guys suggest? this is the raw data ...do i need to present in some hi-fi manner.. do I need experts to write about my profile?
pls suggest..
You are the expert for yourself dude.. for starters, write a mail to ISB (when the 2014 admission window opens) and get them to give you a counsellor/expert to evaluate your profile.
You have to write essays which will delve deeper into you.Be clear about your long term goals.
A first attempt CA, CWA and CMA .. 8 yrs of exp in Investment banking, M&A; and PE. worked on multi billion dollar deals... currently in a leadership role with a PE firm in Middle east ..Loads of extra-curriculars.. worked in 24 countries ( 4 yrs Intl exp) .. GMAT 610.

Bro, to be honest with u I was surprised and shocked when I read last evening that u didn't get through. Having met you personally you are a wonderful and very jovial guy. :) My Girl friend also enquired about your result as we were certain that with 770 you are almost in. π You not making to ISB is a bigger loss to ISB than your loss.
ATVB to u for your future applications. Stay in touch with all of us.
Thanks.. Say my hello to her.. You two are so sweet..
And I was so surprised at your result.. I mean honestly, I haven't seen a better EC part in any other profile.. And your interview was 75 mins long, who would waste that much time to reject a candidature.. insane..
Good to know that you got thru great lakes.. My MBA colleges gyaan is very bad, so pardon me when I ask whether this is in Chennai? May you take the best decision regarding taking the offer or not..
Frankly, I was not very sad about my result.. Of course it felt bad that the 3 months' effort that I had put went almost waste and I will be losing a year if I have to do a management course finally.. I actually read the reject line on the website 4-5 times before it sank in.. But I was also uncertain over last few weeks about financing the course.. Mostly my wife would have come with me leaving her job, so all put together it would have been a 50L game.. So after knowing the results, I was a bit relieved from that angle and joking around that I have so many options opened up now with this money and let me blow away some part of it first .. In a way it was good not to get the admit, I will take care of my finances this year as I am in no haste now, will think thru why MBA and come out stronger next year (if at all I am pursuing it, family obligations might let me not pursue as well)..
Again, wish everybody found something good from the exercise and became stronger..
I would like to have guidance on my profile so that i can improve it over next 6- 9 mths

I am planning to take GMAT this year by May'12. Before delving into high ends of GMAT and its colleges.I need your help puys to evaluate my profile and help me to be decisive for colleges.
For March'13 Intake I'll have work experience of 3.5 Yrs in IT/ITES. Role as Business System Analyst in two of leading MNC's in India. Graduation-B Tech(ECE)- 75% Hons. HSC-ICSE-77% SSC-ICSE-76.60% Extra Curricular: National Level Technical Paper presentation Award by AICTE. National Debate and Elocution Winner and various college level award. Part Time Work Experience with few NGO's.
Help me evaluate my profile and my candidature for getting a fair chances at ISB. Also what would be sufficient range of GMAT score which can bag an ISB call for me..Please help!
Include NGO work only when it is substantial. Otherwise like all others you stand a good chance too.atb mate.
Thanks Anuj,
Substantial in the sense that it was not part time. But yes I have continually devoted 6 Hrs on weekends to educate and help people with free education/experimental classes/innovative sciences, life at still and work sessions, reading sessions for kids who are blind and impaired and also helping with some school staff to provide and arrange mid-day meals and sort of many similar activities. This has been part of my voluntarily activity and I don't owe any certificate of appreciation or any participation proof. However, I have been assisting and adding value to the society in the best way I can and that was all too during my leisure time. So what do you suggest will that be of any relevance to show as part of experience.

thanks, but wish it was a clinching factor.. I know of atleast another puy (Rasputin) who got a ding with a 770 score.. And there have been cases where a guy with a 780 score was not called for interview as his essays were shoddy ..
As per adcom, GMAT score is considered as a part of your academics.. So if you have any two good results among 12th, graduation and GMAT, your academics would be considered good.. And academics as such doesn't score more than 20% of the overall profile..
10th/12th - Cambridge GCE O/A Levels - Distinctions UG - NUS Mechanical Engineering - 3.63/5 GMAT - 720 (Q48, V41), AWA 5.0 Workex - 1 year 8 months till date - Supply chain management, Aerospace industry ECs - Choreographer/Instructor/Performer for the last 10 years
I might be on and off frequenting this thread. But for co2014 aspirants, feel free to PM me if I can be of any help at all. Would be more than glad to share :)
ATB, everyone!!! We're in this together, let's do it!!! (that was for the 2000-page chaser as well; we might need akb1234's help on this one)
Hi MBA2012, congrats on getting a deferred admit. I would have given my right arm for that. π I got outright rejected for CO2013. Edited this post since I see that you have posted your ECs. I wanted to hear some suggestions from you on what activities can be done in SG. But I see that your ECs are of a different nature. Anyway do share your thoughts all the same.
