ISB Class of 2014 aspirants.

It can really depend from candidate to candidate. If someone comes into the interview room chewing paan n gutkha then no matter what your credentials, they will look for reasons to reject. But I too agree with @[200413:navisangha] that ISB panel adopts a more of a "select on merits" approach and avoids "reject on demerits." Reason is simple. Business world is full of demerits. If you keep rejecting things on minuses ignoring the pluses then there is no practical way forward, be it business or life (Too preachy, huh! lol.) Now speaking personally, my application is gaping with "demerits." Still they invited me to interview because on a whole, they saw something worthwhile in my profile. I'm pretty sure they will not want to invite anyone to their campus just for giggles.

What is the total expected expenditure at ISB for the Co 2014? (including living, misc expenses, travel etc..)

Thanks!

Hey guys, what is the significance of this year's video essay? Is it a deciding factor - any thoughts?

@[200413:navisangha] , I think it depends panel to panel, I would still stick to the reject policy, which explains why there is a video essay now, The adcom wants to see and hear the candidate BEFORE the interview , guess there will be considerable less number of interview calls this year...

@[141512:magnifico], Business world apart, there is a huge competition here, each person better than the other, each having their own strengths, and people waiting to get it in..

But, for the sake of optimism, I would say 'select' ( hopefully for me :D)

@[537101:Tan23], When I checked with the adcom, I was told that

-- Preofessional video not required, we want to know your articulation and communication..
Furthur to that as per the recent email from ISB
This essay is primarily meant to give you as wide a latitude as possible to express yourself and bring out your strengths that are otherwise not possible in the other essays. Through this 90-second video clip, you can showcase your articulation and communication skills. The content of the video is as important as is the necessity for you to be present in the video yourself.

Hope this helps ...

Hi puys,

I'm a female dentist, working as a brand manager for a fashion designer in Hyderabad, I have 1 yr and 3 months of experience as a dentist at a charitable clinic, and now 8 months experience as a brand manager for a designer.

GMAT - 600
Work ex - 2 yrs and 1 month,
EC - signing ( at school level, won a number of competitions),charity work for underprivileged children, debate competition ( college level), etc.

I was wondering what my chances are at getting into ISB?

There is no single "deciding factor" in the admissions process, your overall chances are impacted by a number of different factors (admittedly some are more important than others).
The real intended reason behind the video interview can only be provided by the ad-com πŸ˜‰ but it looks like it might be an attempt to determine a candidate's confidence level, poise, presentation style etc!

Hi ,
Has anybody used ISB PGP PRIORITY COUNSELLING?
I wanted to know the experiences of people who have used it.
My profile biggest drawback is my low GMAT score. Not sure if counseling is a right forum to check it out.

@[139227:anaik100], used it ..it is a right forun to check it out πŸ˜ƒ ..

I've registered for the counselling session on 27th, but haven't got any confirmation from ISB yet.

@[401836:crackster] - What can you expect out of such sessions?

@[293130:rahulg83], It was quite informative.. My counsellor once again gave me feedback, and also corrected me in a few areas as to how to present myself next time.. She also hinted at what questions could be asked next....

And its good to have all your questions ready.. She answered many of mine....

@[401836:crackster] did you do this in you last app or this year. What kind of preps should be done before this session? Any suggestions

Okay great! Thanks @[401836:crackster]..I am looking forward for it..

1 more doubt - Does the interview happen in ISB campuses at Hyderabad or Mohali? Or will it be conducted via skype or telephone?

@[139227:anaik100], Consider this counselling as a one time direct line to the ones who actually admit you...so be completely prepared with ALL your questions about your profile.. and ask him/her questions also as to what is important for the adcom.. and what are the strengths and weaknesses in your application....and be completely well versed in your profile, the application essays, your tentative ideas on the essays etc.. You need to drive it.. They are quite helpful and kind.. but a word of caution .. In the end they are the ones admitting you.. so I guess its good to talk to him/her in an articulate way just like in an interview.....

@[293130:rahulg83], for me it happened in HYD ,If I am not wrong there were locations in Delhi and Kolkota as well.. International applicants - skype..

@[401836:crackster] thanks.

Hi All,

All the best for getting thru the MBA school of your choice this year!
I am also planning to apply to ISB again this year, was rejected last year.
has anyone started working on the video essay yet...pl feel free to share your ideas.
My two cents on the video essay: cover those aspects which you couldn't write in your essays but feel passionate about.
Let's discuss more on this question.

I'm in a dilemma guys, could someone please help me out..

I took the GMAT twice in 2010.

GMAT1: Overall 640: Q44 (68%), V34 (68%), AWA3.5 (10%)

I am now planning to apply to ISB for the class of 2014.
Could someone please guide me which scores should I use in my application?
