1 . You can take GMAT when you are ready for it. Generally its better to get done with it by the summers so that you can spend July to September getting your applications in place.
2. There is no cutoff for a good GMAT score. Aim for your best and a score above the class average is helpful.
3. This is an interesting question. Let me give you some pointers here:
a. Find out if ISB will help you get the employment you are seeking after MBA. Talk to students and alumni who are working at the companies on your target list.
b. Check out the academics- does the electives menu excite you?
c. You can check out other aspects like leadership development, exchange programs, consulting projects with real clients. ISB fares very well on all of these.
d. Find out about the different Clubs. DO they support you on the career and social development front? Talk to Club position holders to get a better idea about the club's activities.
e. Last, its always advantageous to visit the b-school and get a real feel for it.
4. To improve your profile, continue to take up opportunities at work and perform well in them. I noticed that you have laid stress on the extra curricular bits in this post, but not talked much about the professional responsibilities and achievements.
An MBA is a professional program, so you would be scrutinized for your professional capabilities. Another year before applying will give you a chance to enhance this aspect (as well as make you eligible to apply).

Hi All,

There's Question 3 in the Evaluation form:
3. Please describe, in brief, situations where the applicant displayed signs of leadership abilities and team skills. (200 words maximum)
I have been working as a developer in IT and not in a leadership role.
So, how can the evaluator comment on leadership abilities?

@ivyctor2010 :

Hello Sir ,

I recently gave my GMAT and scored 650 ( Quants- 48 , Verbal-31) .This has been my second attempt with my first attempt last year wherein I scored 620. I am working as an Electrical Engineer in the Power Sector for the past 2 yrs. 10th & 12th- 87% (CBSE) and B.E (EEE)-82% . I am a trained Carnatic singer and have participated and won in few extra-curricular events. Since college days have done my bit of community service and continue to do so. This is about me in a nutshell.

Kindly let me know whether i should go ahead and apply to ISB or give another attempt at GMAT(which I am not so keen on)

@ivyctor2010 Thanks

for helping me out here can you review my pervious post in which i have shared my work profile and experience and whether some of them can be projected as my achievements.

Lan gaming is not very sought out field but thats what I want to do.
Please highlight things which I can improve on my profile during this one year.

Leadership is not about leading a team. Management and leadership r two very different concepts.

Being in IT you must have faced production issues or difficult projects or challenging timelines from clients or implementations going wrong. You can request your recommend-er to write about such a situation and how you stepped up, took charge of situation to mitigate the risks and issues team had infront
@nik864u Interested. We should start after 15th Sep.

Hi there one more doubt whatever experience i post out from my project, my refree should share the same.
@nik864u Hi Nik... add me on adi_manish I would like to be part of this activity... thnx

Hi Puys..I'm a prospective applicant to ISB this year.. Brief intro about my background.. Initially worked as a software engineer, then performed the role of an automation consultant who helped other teams in our process identify process gaps and bridge them with automated solutions. For the past 1 year, I've been working as an analyst tasked with analyzing data and formulating strategies for my company's market entry in Asia/South America regions.The reason to do an MBA is to build on this experience and analyze problems from all possible angles(such as marketing,operations etc) than just the engineering and technology perspectives I currently possess.I'm interested in "Strategy Consulting"..Request someone throw some light on the below questions which have been bugging me for quite sometime now:
1)I want to work on a wide variety of problems armed with the knowledge capital gained from an MBA.Don't want to be limited to just the technology related problem-solving/IT consulting. With me coming from an IT background, does ISB view my move to "Strategy Consulting" rather than "IT consulting" a bit illogical?
2)What are the options available to students who pursue "Strategy" concentration post-ISB?
3)What exactly is taught as part of the "Strategy and Leadership" concentration at ISB?

Any kind of information about the above queries would be extremely helpful. Thanks in advance!!
