1) In the application form, in the awards and activities section, it was mentioned at the top that you may submit certificates at the time of interview if shortlisted. I assumed that certificates are not mandatory. Hence, I wrote two awards whose certificates I had lost earlier. So, at the moment I have two certificates out of the six needed (awards+activities). Will that be taken against me?
2) If shortlisted, do I necessarily need to submit transcripts or submitting all the marksheets will do...i.e. degree certificate, provisional certificate and the semester marksheets for all the eight semesters? Please let me know as I am currently based outside Delhi and will have to go to Delhi to collect my transcripts.
Thanks.
Coolmayank123,
1) We do not need any proof af awards and activities. 2) At the time of the interview, you only need to submit photocopies of your original degree/provisional certificate, consolidated transcript/semester wise marksheet. Original marksheets will have to submitted when you come join ISB.
I am an international applicant (Indian citizen) planning a trip to Mumbai in Oct or Nov. If possible, I would like to schedule my trip around the time R1 interviews are held in Mumbai.
Could you let me know what the probable dates for R1 interviews in Mumbai are? Also what are the probable phone interview dates? What steps do I need to take if I decide to opt for a personal interview.
Thanks, Dev
Dev,
The tentative dates of Mumbai interview are 21-24 October and the telephonic interviews will be conducted between 29 October - 12 November.
If you want to change your interview status, you can do so by dropping a mail at [email protected] either when your travel plans are finalised or when you receive an interview call from us, whichever happens first. Please note that any change in interview status will happen subject to availability of time slots.
Just a small clarification sir. Does that mean, since I am only applying to ISB, that if I have the original marksheets and the degrees, I won't need the transcripts at all. I can simply submit the marksheets (original/photocopy whichever applicable) at the time of the interview if shortlisted/final admission if selected.
Thanks
Coolmayank,
Transcripts are mandatory only in case you have done your graduation from a foreign university. Otherwise, marksheets will suffice.
Dear Sir, I have a query regarding the final admission process. If a candidate is selected for interview, the final admission is made only based on his interview performance or a comprehensive view of the package(application+interview performance) is taken into account in giving the final admission offer.
Nikil
Nikil,
The final admission offer is made on the basis of your application as well as the interview performance.
1. Would the CA industrial training at Hindustan Unilever after completion of graduation count towards work experience? During this period, I did not attend any college and worked full time at HUL.
2. Would one be required to submit both professional and academic references or would only professional references work? I ask this specifically since I have lost touch with almost all my teachers in college.
3. Can one include certificate courses completed under the ISB Executive Education programme as academic qualifications spcifically for the purpose of the PGPM application?
I am working with a software company. I am a bit hesitant to ask for a recommendation from my current supervisor, as there have been precedents that have not been taken well.
But, there is a senior person (with the same designation as my immediate supervisor) in the team who is well aware of my activities since beginning and is willing to recommend me. What relationship should I mention in the ISB form: 1. Co-worker/colleague 2. Project Leader 3. Supervisor
And, should I mention this thing in the optional essay. Actually, I already had some experience to share in essay4. So should I just add a line at the end regarding choice of recommender?
You can expect a change in status maximum by 27 September. In case there is any discrepency regarding your documents, we will get in touch with you. You application will not be pushed to R2.
Admissions Team
Hi Admissions team,
I'm yet to see any change in my status and I'm unable to access the ISB application website....

Sidharth,
1) If this training was a part of your CA internship, then it will not be considered as work exp. 2) We prefer professional references as the questions are related to your professional achievements and not to academic life. However, it is not mandatory that you submit a professional/academic reco. You can choose between the two. 3) You can mention this under Additional qualifications.

Thanks! Sahil Kapoor
Sahil,
You can mention him as your supervisor. A line in the Optional essay about this will suffice.
I have close to to 7 yrs of work exp. in IT field, currently working as Sr. technical consultant (pre sales) in Airtel at AM level.
My educational background is not to good (10th - 70% 12th - 60% & BE - 54%) and fact that I can not imrpove these nos. now :frown:.
I have decided for MBA and started preparing for GMAT (10th Nov 09 - date for GMAT).
Can I become eligible for ISB considering educational background ? Is there any way out ?
Thanks in advance.
Sachin
Sachin, you are eligible to apply to ISB as there is no minimum cut-off for marks obtained in graduation or school. The only way out is that you get a very good GMAT score.
I have done my graduation (BTech in Chemical Engineering) from a top institute in India with 8.2 CGPA (2nd rank in class of 55). I got 85% in Class X(CBSE) and 76% in Class XII(UP Board).
I dropped for three years after 12th to qualify IIT-JEE (gave 3 consecutive mains) as it was my dream to study at the best institutes of India and I was determined to achieve it. This drop helped in understanding the values of good preparations, hard work, resource optimization and planning, and of course to learn from mistakes.
I had an exceptional stint at my institute during graduation. I was instrumental in forming many successful extracurricular ventures which went on to win a lot of prizes and praise from people (both intra-institute and inter-institute events) and also have left my permanent mark as an individual. I took a lead in restructuring the event organization (both co-curricular and extracurricular) in institute and helped the system becoming more efficient and inclusive (as Joint Secretory of Theater and Astronomy clubs in Student Gymkhana). Beside this I encouraged and actively took part in social services (like performing street plays to gather funds to help Tsunami victims).
I am currently working as a Technologist in Oil Refining industry for one of the largest companies in the world. My responsibilities include helping our clients identifying their performance gaps and developing an optimized mitigating strategy to close the gaps. I am also the benchmarking and D&I; focal points for my group for whole Asia pacific region.
I strongly feel that at ISB, I can add sufficient value to the community both at interpersonal front, but also on the understanding the different economic aspects and challenges of oil industry.
My Concerns:
My quarry is about the probable impact of my three years drop after 12th. Even though that experience guided me to close my personality gaps effectively, but I am still anxious about the considerations ISB Admission panel may give to that. Also please advise if my profile do require some other considerations.
I have 8+ years of experience in IT. Currently working as a project manager in leading Indian IT company. My international work ex is 5+ years and GMAT score 780. I understand that the average years of experience in ISB is
Will anyone with similar experience get any benefit for his/her experience during placements as far as kind of roles offered are concerned? How big a factor is experience in deciding the seniority of profile? Also if you can let me know what kind of profiles have been offered to people with ~9 years of experience.
Dear Sir, Does any kind of gap during Academic Career is considered as inelligible for applying to ISB?
My Career Track:
10th- 90% in 1998 12th- 90% in 2000 Engineering in ECE from one of the most prestigious colleges of India with GPA 8.41 in 2006 2006 onwards- Software Engineer I took admission into Engineering college in 2002.My primary goal was to get through a Medical college but later on I realised that Engineering attracted me more.I am a Software Engineer in Los Angeles,CA now.So here is my question- Am I elligible for applying into ISB with this void in career graph?
The ISB site says that " Further update on short-listing will be available approximately 3 to 7 days before the interview date for the interview location you have chosen". Does this mean that the applicants who are NOT shortlisted will also receive notification along with ones who do get shortlisted?
