Location has no effect on the shortlisting of an applicant apart from the fact that we do evaluate Delhi files first and then proceed to other city's files. This is done only because Delhi interviews are conducted first. Evaluation of files is done in the order of the cities where the interviews will be held first. As a result, we release the list of short listed candidates only 3-7 days in advance of interview date.

Hi,
I submitted my application on the 14th September and interview location opted is Hyderabad. My application still shows "Application Submitted Online". When could I expect my status to change? Would the admissions team contact me in case of issues or would this be pushed to R2 in case of some info. which is incomplete, etc.?

Dear Sir Then does it mean that the shortlisting will be done on some absolute criteria and not on a relative scale. As i understand from your response- when you shortlist the delhi candidates you still would not have seen the files of most other locations and hence would not have an idea of the quality of the entire R1 applicant pool

Forbidden_apple,
You can expect a change in status maximum by 27 September. In case there is any discrepency regarding your documents, we will get in touch with you. You application will not be pushed to R2.

Theapprentice,
Although we do the Delhi applications first as a contingency measure, this does not mean any part of the R1 applicant pool is left unevaluated by the time interview calls are sent out for Delhi. All applications for the R1 will be completely evaluated by the 1st of October. All interview invites will be ready by the 5th of October. However, we inform candidates 3-7 days in advance only to ensure that none of the candidates have either an unfair advantage or are subjected to any kind of disadvantage as the time for each preparation will be the same. A similar problem has been addressed in the thread but i would be greatful if a solution, specific to my case is provided.
I would take Gmat in oct and apply in R2.
This query pertains to the educational background section.
The Degree awarded by my university only considers the 4th Year Marks and since everyone was aware of the rule including the proffs, the trend was to get better marks in the final Year. I also did reasonable better in 4th year and was among the top performers for my batch.
The differntiation in divisions is as follows- First class above 60% and Distinction above 66%( as against 75% in most other universities)
If i take a mean of all 4 yrs marks i get a different division(lower Division), as against if i consider only my final year marks(which has been taken into consideration in awarding me my degree)
My query is which marks should one write in the aplication.
Its not written that other 3 years marks have not been considered in awarding a degree, but its very clearly evident in the degree awarded.
I have a small question to ask about the interview dates. The ISB website says that the interview dates for Hyderabad and International are 29th October and 8-12 November. Does this mean that interviews will be held at Hyderabad on 29th October and telephonic interview will be conducted for international applicants from 8th to 12th November? Or is it the other way around?
Dear Sir In one of the information sessions it was mentioned that ISB discourages rejected applicants in R2 to apply in R1 next year unless they were waitlisted. Could you please clarify the adcom's stand on the re-applicants. Also can you clarify how many re-applicantions have you recieved out of 2000+ in R1 this year
On surfing the ISB site for latest placement trends, I see some encouraging news for aspirants planning to switch either their industry or function or both post-mba from ISB. The pie-chart and other graphs did gave a glimpse of the last season's placement trend but I was particularly interested in people making a switch from IT to Finance (Marketing) side. I have already applied in Round 1 for the 2009-10 session and waiting for the next step. Your reply on this highly appreciated as that will help me a lot in matching my expectations post-ISB.
Hello Sir, Though the time of results is nearing, I just wanted to get some idea about my kind of profile and the chance I stand of getting short listed for the interview.
I have an excellent academic record with 3.7 CGPI. Also had a good stint of 2 yrs in Software Industry with a product company though not very big.
My GMAT score is 690 and my work experience is just 2 years. Do you think even with good academic record, do i have a good chance to get an interview call or will it be too optimistic for me to think about ISB this year.
Also is the score of 690 competitive in context of my profile.
Not sure if its too late to ask about this, but I thought this may help me in future too.

Fazal_gupta,
Whether you are short listed or not does not depend only upon the three attributes you have mentioned above. While evaluating your application, we also look at your essays, recos, job profile, etc. So, you will have to wait till the evaluation process is complete and the short listed candidates' list is declared.

Theapprentice,
More than 10% of the applicants in cycle-1 are re-applicants. We view re-applicants positively as long as they have improved their profiles significantly.
i have been with a EPCm (Engineering Procurement Construction Management) giant which is a fortune 500 company, for last 2 years, after completing my engg degree.
Currently I am an design engineer , working in operations (Engg services). New Delhi office (where I have been) focuses mainly in Oil & gas refineries and extraction contracts .
I would like to know my post ISB options for me.(considering I can leverage my 2-3 yrs of experience)
On the ISB website, is the reported CTC the same as the salary offered plus the value of all benefits? If needed, please explain the way the CTC is calculated.
Additionally, what percentage of applications in Round 1 are from candidates located outside India?
Thank you, AG
AG,
The CTC is the total cost to the company picked up from the offer letter of the student. The components of the offer letter are similar to any other offer letter one gets from their prospective employer. Regarding international candidates, we are yet to collate this data. Admissions Team

Guess_who,
You can leverage your experience and go for Business Development, Strategy, and such roles in similar sectors.
I am an international applicant (Indian citizen) planning a trip to Mumbai in Oct or Nov. If possible, I would like to schedule my trip around the time R1 interviews are held in Mumbai.
Could you let me know what the probable dates for R1 interviews in Mumbai are? Also what are the probable phone interview dates? What steps do I need to take if I decide to opt for a personal interview.
