Thank you for supporting us with your answers during the application process.
As the written application round (1) is over and shortlisted candidates are looking forward to their interviews, I would appreciate if you could please let us know
(1) On what parameters do you evaluate candidates in interviews?
(2) For each student you accept post interviews, how many do you reject in first cycle?
Thanks and regards, Poonam
Poonam,
1) While evaluating candidates during interview, we look at the following parameters:
Communication skills Clarity of thought Adaptability to various environment Leadership qualities Management and initiative abilties Analytical abilities Depth and breadth of exposure to business scenarios
2) Though there is no fixed ratio in our mind but in the past for every 8 applications we received, we short listed 5 for interview and only 1 was made the final offer.
I will be out of town in a very remote place with no access to either the internet or mobile phone from 19th to 24th Oct. I have opted for Hyderabad as the interview location. I also realize that I'm expected to send the documents in PDF to you if I'm shortlisted.
My question really is a bit forward looking. If I do get a call, would it be ok if I forward the PDFs to you on the 24 or 25 Oct?Do I need to inform this to you in advance?
Thanks,
Forbidden_apple,
You may send us your documents in advance at [email protected] and explain the situation in the mail.
I am planning to apply for ISB in cycle-2. I am writing my GMAT in the month of november & afterwards apply for it.
Could you tell me when will the interviews be held for cycle-2 ? I mean tentative dates (ex:- mid Dec , early Jan) would suffice, i need to plan my things accordingly.
Interviews will happen on Saturdays and Sundays as well. You will not be able to choose your interview date. The Hyderabad list will come out maximum by 20 October.
Admissions Team
Hi ISB-team,
So essentially I have to wait till I get the result. There is no chance of pre-booking as I can't pick the date.
Dear Sir, I feel that my query was missed out due to volume of posts, can you please look at this:
Thank you for the effort taken to answer our queries. I have few small doubts - Do self employed students have an advantage/disadvantage over others? - Are there startups emerging immediately post ISB. Although ISB does so much about entrepreneurship why arent there many startups emerging from students from ISB immediately post ISB. -Can you give me some links/contacts to some of the companies founded by ISB graduates.

Hi Ankit, I had a friend by same name in my engineering institute Thapar Institute, patiala. Is it the same Ankit from Electronics Engg.?
From the Delhi shortlisted profiles posted on various forums, I gather that this year many applicants with less experience were shortlisted for interviews and higher proportion of applicants with significant >=5 yrs work ex have not been shortlisted.
Is ISB more inclined towards young applicants this year? Is there a change in admission strategy?
Thanks.
Bluepeas,
There is no such strategy in place. We have short listed a number of candidates with 5+ years of work exp. We are sure that not all of the short listed candidates will be avid bloggers, thus the misrepresentation.

Ankit,
Your query has not been missed. It will be replied to soon.
Hi Sir, I have my interview on 13th October. I had a few queries: 1) At the interview day, do we need to carry only the photocopies of mark sheets and awards and activities certificates or do we also need to bring the originals?
2) For photocopies, do we have to get them attested from a gadgetted officer?
3) Can you please give us the list of documents we need to carry on the day of interview?
Regards, Mayank
Mayank,
You only need to carry your interview call letter on that day. All other documents have to be sent via email only.
Hi,I am applying in cycle 2. I have a query regarding the evaluator.Mr. Menon, I started and operated (full time) two restaurants for more than two years. So, can I use my architect who designed both the restaurants for me as an evaluator. Thanks,Ani
In the previous thread, you said that we have to send all our documents via mail. Please note that I didn't send the scanned copies of awards and activities certificates to ISB as it was clearly mentioned in the interview shortlist mail that we have to send the transcripts/marksheets.
Should I send the awards and activities certificates now in a separate mail?
Regards, Mayank
Mayank,
No, those are not required. By all documents we meant all those mentioned the official mail only.

Ankit,
Though ISB encourages entrepreneurship but entrepreneurs have no advantage/disadvantage as compared to other students. The school has a full fledged centre for Entrepreneurship, called the Wadhwani Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (WCED). A student can get support from this center. There are also specialized courses offered at the ISB for people who want to start on their own. They can make business plans, get the same whetted by experts and also get in touch with VCs. There have been some startups by students immediately on leaving the B School and this trend is on the rise. To get in touch with alumni with start-up background, please write to us at [email protected] Admissions Team
I am still confused as what are all the options available after MBA from ISB. I am in IT for the last 10 years and want to stay in the same field after MBA. In US, people go into product management post MBA but this does not seem like the case in India. Please advise.
P.S. Right now I am a development manager. In the long run I want to oversee the whole product cycle from conceptualization of an idea to delivery the product to the customer.

Soya,
A career in Product Management is highly sought after at ISB. A little knowledge in various functions definitely helps one to go a long way in product management. The ISBs programme exposes you to the entire strategic frame works required to pursue a career in the Product life cycle management including strategic planning, execution and launch etc... This exposure helps you perform in the product management roles. A number of companies come to the campus for recruitment into a gamut of roles in the product management. Admissions Team
I have 8+ years of experience in IT. Currently working as a project manager in leading Indian IT company. My international work ex is 5+ years and GMAT score 780. I understand that the average years of experience in ISB is
Will anyone with similar experience get any benefit for his/her experience during placements as far as kind of roles offered are concerned? How big a factor is experience in deciding the seniority of profile? Also if you can let me know what kind of profiles have been offered to people with ~9 years of experience.
Thanks
Amit,
Experience plays an important role in deciding the seniority of a profile. However, the number of years in your work should commensurate the role, achievements and responsibilities you are handling.
The career Advancement Services (placement) office at ISB has enough experience to handle all kinds of profiles in a batch and the expectations they have. Attractive roles like Vice-president, Director software, COO, National Head etc have been offered to the students in the previous years.
I am already an MBA from a Tier-II school and have about 6 years of Sales and Business Development experience in Financial Services sector. Currently I am working in a very large and reputed Consulting firm with a ok (early 7 figure) salary in India and doing quite well here with bright proespects.
In view of the above, can you please guide me if: 1- A course at ISB will help me significantly improve my skills and market value? 2- Given the downturn in the market, are the placements likely to be effected for next 1-3 years?
