Dear Sir,
I have two queries:
1) I have gathered some info from the official website of the ISB and it states that it's recommended that one applies in R1 rather than R2( in which the number of vacancies is limited..as it says ). Does it mean that the allocation of seats will be more in R1 than in R2? I understand that it's entirely upto one's own discretion..but I have to ask...is it better to refrain from applying in R2 and wait for the next year?(because...in one year, one cannot significantly alter his/her profile..so once rejected, it will be to one's disadvantage the following year).
2) Does the timing before the deadline, at which I apply matter? I mean...does it make any difference if I apply the day before the deadline or a month before the deadline? I'm asking this to understand how the applications will be reviewed by the admissions team...will it be like a rolling review or the applications will be looked at only after the deadline date has passed?....because..it's similar to the advantage of applying in R1 over R2...
Thanks in advance...
Sir,

Carl,
1) As mentioned in this thread earlier, there is only a very slight advantage of applying in Cycle 1. If your application is strong then it does not matter which cycle you apply in.
We do not have any particular number in mind while short listing applicants in cycle 1. However, we do try and maintain a ratio of 50:50/40:60/60:40 between the two cycles.
2) It does not matter when you apply in a particular admission cycle. All applications will be evaluated at par whether they were submitted a month before or on the deadline day itself.

Sir,
Have all Chennai calls been sent out or like Bangalore can we also expect to hear upto 25th October.
Thanks
I am applying for ISB from 2009 onwards. Since for me each penny matters.
I do have few queries regarding admission & selection procedures of ISB.
1. Does a person who is part for a small scale IT firm which aims for RURAL IT innovation carry any weightage?
2. Is it necessary that a person should have international exp in his work experience?
Thank you
Hello Adcom,
Can you tell me when will the kolkata shortlist for interviews be declared?
Best Regards

Anand,
1) You will have to portray the differentiating factor (rural IT innovation) from other IT applicants in your essays.
2) It is not at all necessary to have international work exp.

Dear Ad Com,
Couple of questions:
1. It is observed that extremely high score in one section and extremely low score in the other section on GMAT, is a matter of concern to ISB Ad Com. Does that mean - the applicant is rejected if he/she falls under this criteria?
2. Do you think it is worth to apply in R2, if I come under this criteria?
Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
Schirravuri,
Yes, low score in a particular section of GMAT is certainly a concern and the application could be rejected, if the AdCom feels that the candidate cannot cope. It is better to re-take, improve and apply in cycle-2.

Dear Sir,

Dear Mr. Menon,
Thank you for your time at this forum.
Now when Delhi interviews are over and the final list of selected Delhi candidates has been more or less finalised, can the Adcom consider sending out acceptance-offers to Delhi candidates earlier than Nov. 20 following the interview shortlisting procedure?
I understand that few candidates would be at border-line and their acceptances would depend on interviews of candidates from other locations, but there would certainly many others whom you must have identified and for whom early-decisions are important.
- What are criteria for accepting interviewed candidates? At the time of making final offers, Adcom takes into account submitted applications or are the decisions post-interview solely based on interviews?
- Does the Adcom allocate points for each aspect of application and for interview, and then makes offers depending on these points? What are the weightages of interview and Application (Profile/SOP/Essays)?
Poonam
Dear Sir/Madam,
1. When will the list for Hyderabad candidates be declared?
Since Diwali is next week, is it possible that by any chance, results will be declared before 23rd Oct. I have to travel to my home town on 23rd for Diwali but my plans depend on the interview call (if I get one) and the interview date. It will be difficult to return to Hyderabad on a short notice given the paucity of tickets.
2. Given that Diwali is on 28th, will ISB still conduct interviews for Hyderabad candidates on 29th, as some of us may have gone home on the occasion?
Your replies will help me to postpone/cancel my travel plans.
Thanks

Poonam,
As mentioned earlier on the thread, please do not try to push the ADCOM to hasten up the admission process. The deadlines have been put in place keeping in mind a number of parameters which you as an applicant might not be aware of.
1) Please refer to page numbeer 44 of this thread.
2) Yes, we do allocate points but we will not be able to disclose the weightages given.

1) The Hyderabad mails will be sent out maximum by next Monday.
2) Keeping in mind the festive occasion, we are trying to schedule only Telephonic interviews for international applicants on 29 October.

Dear Ad Com,
Thanks for your reply. One last question - Could you please let us know what could be the other parameter you might consider (as an alternative) to a lower GMAT score?
I am confident regarding the rest all, but a bit worried on this aspect too....
Thanks!
