Hello Sir, I am an R1 applicant. I am from Pune and my Interview center is Hydrabad. In an earlier post you mentioned that the results for Hyd center will be out latest by 25 Oct. I will be travelling extensively that week, so it will be really helpful if you could tell on which tentative dates interviews for Pune candidates will be held. It will help me plan my travel better.
All the selected and non-selected applicants have been notified. However, there are some applicants who have been put on waitlist, no mails have been sent to them. We will inform them about their final status in a few days.

Sir
If you could please tell us the consensus behind waitlisting applicants before the interview stage itself? Does the school expect to have reviewed applicants form other cities completely by the time a definite verdict is sent out to the waitlisted candidates?

Micky,
Please note that we are not doing a profile check on this thread.
As far as career switch from IT to Finance is concerned, it is possible. ISB as an institute does not encourage/discourage students to change their field from IT to any other, as it is a matter of personal choice.
Since you plan to change your industry to Finance, you will most probably start as a Junior Associate/Associate depending upon the firm.
Hello Sir Please find below my query on placement i posted earlier
On surfing the ISB site for latest placement trends, I see some encouraging news for aspirants planning to switch either their industry or function or both post-mba from ISB. The pie-chart and other graphs did gave a glimpse of the last season's placement trend but I was particularly interested in people making a switch from IT to Investment Banking. I have already applied in Round 1 for the 2009-10 session and waiting for the next step. Your reply on this highly appreciated as that will help me a lot in matching my expectations post-ISB.
Regards Jeet
Jeet,
A shift from IT to IB is possible depending upon the capabilities of the student. In such a case, the student will have to take up majority of Finance related electives and also opt for an ELP related to the industry. Last year only a handful of students made this shift.
Is there any disadvantage of going for telephonic interview rather than personal interview? Apart from obvious disadvantage, what is ISB's line of thinking about it?
I have a few questions regarding classroom schedules and some aspects of the learning model.
a. How many hours (per week) of classroom sessions does each course correspond to ?
b. Will there be classes on Sundays ?
c. Can you tell us something about the "Independant study" that students can take up? Is it just a "self-study course" or can it be taken up as a "research oriented assignment" ?
d. Are there any ELP partners outside India ? Do students get to travel abroad for these projects ? Do we get to form ELP teams ourselves "or" will the partners select teams ? Do ELP partners always come with specific projects ??
I am interested in finding out, if in ISB do we get oppurtunities to take up a problem in a field in which we want to puruse our careers and try solving the same (with a team of our choice). My questions (c) and (d) above are inline with this thought.
Thanks and Regards, Sarat
Sarat,
1) 4 hours per week/course. 2) There are no classes on Sunday. 3) The Independent Study course allows you to explore areas of interest not covered in the curriculum. You can enroll for an Independent Study under the guidance of a resident faculty member or one of the visiting faculty / visiting scholar.
You can enroll for a total of two Independent Studies during terms 5-8. An Independent Study is necessarily graded as a pass/fail course and therefore will not be included in the required credit count, i.e., it can not be part of 33 minimum credits required for graduation, nor can it be counted towards a concentration area. The final transcript will record the Independent Study with a grade PASS or FAIL. Whether you can take it up as a "research oriented assignment" will depend on the nature of the study to be conducted. 4) Yes, we do have ELP partners outside India. Since these companies are looking for an entry strategy in India, so the students are not required to travel abroad. ELP teams are formed by students themselves. ELP partners come with their own specific projects. 5) Yes, you can take up a project. Admissions Team

Sir Thanks for your update. Can you discuss a little about profiles of the students making this switch last year. Better would be if I can get their contact info. Moreover, can I have list of Banks/FIs where they are now starting their careers in IB. Also, any info on their roles and salary package will be appreciated.

The.underdog,
Yes, we have sent out some mails to Bangalore and Chennai applicants to help them facilitate their travel plans. Another set of mails will be sent out soon.
I am planning to apply in round 2. I have 2+ work-experience in IT. In my company I am working along with the quality department and wants to build up my career in this direction only. It would be great help if you can just tell about some specific electives related to this field offered by ISB and what all career opportunities could be in this field for an ISB student.
Thanks, Nagraj
Nagraj,
Once in ISB, you can get in touch with IT faculty and seek their guidance in choosing the electives.
In the past, students with this background have been hired at Associate Cosultant/Consultant/Team Lead/Solution Architect level by major IT companies.
I am from Bangalore and have given a contact address in Hyderabad. Office address still says Bangalore. This was more from a convenience point of view.
Will I be considered amongst the Hyderabad candidates or the Bangalore candidates ? I am concerned that if I am shortlisted (and I am hoping I would be) will I get sufficient time to make travel arrangements ?
I am working in Bangalore and have given a contact address of Delhi (My native place) .
However, i have given the interview location at Hyderabad.
As candidates from Bangalore and Chennai who have kept their interview location as Hyderabad have started to get calls.I am concerned that when can i expect a call if I am shortlisted provided my contact address in the application is Delhi. Will I get sufficient time to make travel arrangements ?
Dear Sir Is it possible to disclose the no of final offers (R1+R2) which ISB is going to make given the past yield numbers. I would assume for 560 seats you would give more than 560 offers (say 650). If its not possible to disclose can you tell what was the no last yr for the 440 seats.
Also which all rankings will the ISB participate this year

Theapprentice,
This information is confidential and hence cannot be disclosed.
I am from bangalore but from other threads I came to know interview dates for bangalore people are rolled off. I will be thankful if you can tell what will be the last date of notification for bangaore candidates?
1. It is observed that extremely high score in one section and extremely low score in the other section on GMAT, is a matter of concern to ISB Ad Com. Does that mean - the applicant is rejected if he/she falls under this criteria?
2. Do you think it is worth to apply in R2, if I come under this criteria?
