Dear Sir,
Thanks for taking the time to answer questions from prospective students.
I am interested in applying for '09 but due to travel and work related commitments I will only be able to apply by Round 2.
My question was regarding the number of students admitted in Round 1 Vs Round 2. Do you have a set number of seats reserved for Round 2 applicants? Also do you review Round 2 applications before sending out admits for Round 1 applicants?
First of all I want to thank you for spending some of your valuable times to this forum. I am a doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering and presently pursuing my research in USA. I worked in Japan after my Doctorate degree for 3 years as R&D; group leader. I have some international patents.
Will my research background play a negative role in case of my MBA admission to ISB?
Thanking you
Sincerely
Armaan

Respected Sir,
I am scheduled to take my GMAT on Aug 30th, and would be starting the ISB application process for ISB well before that.
Will there be enough time for me to meet the deadlines?
If my application gets accepted for an interview, is it possible to schedule a telephonic interview? I am currently in US as part of my Job and will not be in India atleast till December for a vacation.
Please do reply.
Thanking you in advance,
Ramesh aka Dreams_are_real
Hi ,
I am not applying for any scholarship and my evaluations will be done online.
1) The application process is completely online and we do not have to send any packet containing any documents to ISB. Plz correct me if I am wrong.
2) Can you please let me know what are the mandatory documents which need to be scanned and uploaded ?
3) I can see that passport and photograph are necessary but I cannot find a place where I can upload my marksheets of engineering. Do i need to upload these.
Thanks for your help in advance.
Yes, the application process is completely online. You need not send any documents to ISB. However, you can choose between online/offline evaluations. The reason for offline evaluation should be convincing for ISB to validate the same. If for any reason your request has been rejected, you will have to go back to the form and opt for the online evaluation.
The mandatory documents are listed below:
- Photograph
- Passport
- Proof of Income
No, you don't have to upload any mark sheets. Photocopies of mark sheets/Transcripts and Certificates are to be submitted at the time of interview, if short-listed. All overseas applicants may forward soft copies (in pdf) of the same to [email protected] , soon after they receive interview intimation.

Dear Sir,
I am a surgeon aged 34 years with 7 years of experience. I scored 770 in GMAT (Q49, V47). There are two questions
1. Is my age within the mid 80%?
2. I have worked in five different institutes. Will that go against me? (I have good reasons, but dont want to prolong the resume too much in trying to explain it all)
Dear Dr. MBA,
- The mid 80% range for the current batch is 24-31.
- You experience in different institutes will not go against you if you can explain it well. You can write about them in the optional essay.

Dear Ramesh,
Normally it takes 2-3 weeks for the official GMAT score to reach us. You will have to ensure that we receive it maximum by September 25. You can contact us to check the status of your score report.
Yes, it is possible to schedule a Telephonic interview if you are travelling, provided the time slots are available.

Dear Amitatan,
You can take recos from your previous employers. If this is your first job, then I would suggest that you get your recos from the Professors under whom you have studied.

Dear Caliguy,
There is no fixed number of seats reserved for Round 2. We do try and maintain some ratio between the two rounds, but it completely depends upon the quality of applications received.
We do not review Round 2 applications before sending admits for Round 1.

Satish,
- Your chances of getting admission in 2009 -10 batch will be negligible. If you are applying this year and want us to consider you as a deferred admission case, then please mention this in the optional essay. Also, in case you are given a deferred admission, you will have to make a deposit of Rs. 4 lac, which will be non-refundable.
- It will depend entirely on your post-ISB plans. If you decide to change your industry, then you will have to start afresh in your new company. However, the salary will be higher than your previous job. If you plan to stay in your current industry, then your placement will be commensurate with your past experience.

Hello AdCom of ISB,
Firstly, thank you for this oppprutnity to directly interact with you folks.
Is it a disadvantage for a candidate to be from large IT services company like Infosys,TCS and others? I know this particular pool are the largest ISB applicants hence being the most competetive. Will I as a candidate be judged on the work I have performed as a service provider (both IT and Domain) or are all IT service candidates are viewed with a similar prisim?
My point being that within this pool there are also diverse profiles and work experience which cannot be branded as a so called sterotypical IT profile.

Anuj,
No, it is not a disadvantage for a candidate to be from large IT Services Company. A smart applicant will use this to his/her advantage.
Your application will be judged on the basis of quality and depth of your work exp not the IT industry in general.
