Dear Sir,
Good Morning
Which Private Equity firms (PE) have come for recruitment to ISB? How many students get placed with PE firms post ISB? I ask this as I am currently in a leading global PE firm looking for opportunities post MBA only in PE. I searched through the recent brochure however was unable to find any PE firms in the recruiters page.

Dear Sir,
While most of the universities abroad give this information ISB website doesn't. Can you please answer this:
1) The total number of applications received last year?
2) The total number of interview calls?
3) The total number of seats, I assume is same as what it is on the website?
4) I also remember having read in ET that ISB plans to raise its intake to 560 this time, is this true sir?
Looking forward to hear from you ? If the answers to these questions are posted elsewhere in the thread then my apologies...
Thanks
Nikil

School's dont have a cut-off score. They encourage the highest scores you can achieve and will show either a Median or an Average score.
Scholarship details can also be found on the website.

I had a lot of backlogs during engineering. So i keep wondering if its worth applying and if i would get a call ?? Is this a factor that is looked at very seriously?? Will a Good GMAT score Make up for The Poor academics ???
Firstly i would sincerely like to appreciate your efforts in answering our queries.
I completed my Engineering last year and am presently working with an IT firm.I plan to have a career-Switch to finance as i am not interested in the IT domain.i am taking my Gmat in September this year so that i can apply to ISB for the Class of 2010.
Since i plan to switch to finance, is it advisable for me to switch my job to a financial one. Will it affect my admission chances for next year, since i would be having less than a year in that particular field. on the other hand, if i stick to my present Job i will have a 2 year work experience at the time of joining (if i get selected).
i am really confused and despirited and would really be glad if you could help me out by answering my concerns.
Have a great day

Dear Sir
Is there any upper age limit for enrollment into MBA program at ISB. Though, i couldn't find any information on the website suggesting so.
Just out of curiosity, what is generally the maximum age of the students that get enrolled. Though stats on website suggests median age of 27-28 yrs.
Does ISB has any criteria of limiting the no. of students who are in their mid 30s , thereby giving preference to young and mouldable minds.

Hi,
I am a reapplicant. Last year was a half baked attempt where in the essays were not upto the mark and even i gooffed up on some of the information provided like % scored, etc. I have had time this year and would have a well thought out application in place. I was wondering if last years application data would have an effect on this years application.
Thanks!!

Sir,
Having read the thread, i collect that you can cover up for your past academics through a good gmat score and a great work experience.
The thing is my 10th and 12th were disasters and my academic records only started inproving after my 4th semester of b.tech.
i just passed out with an avg score and iam now in my family business
my queries are as follows-
Do i have a realistic chance of gettin through if i get a good gmat score
secondly if iam working in my family business, does that count as work experience?
and whose letter of recommendation would be required in my case??
thanks for your time

Varun,
It will help if you have some exp in Finance but you also need to have minimum 2 years of work exp to apply to ISB. You have two options:
1) Either you stick to your current IT job and apply to ISB,
2) Or you switch to a Finance job, apply to ISB for class of 2011 (in case you do not have 2 years of work exp)
Please refer to page no. 3 also.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your reply on the statistics. I have another query with regards to the salary part in the application:
Basically I am self employed and what I do is I take equity stakes in startups(currently working with 2 startups) and scale up their operations or turn it around. So I don't have a fixed salary component but I have equity stakes, how do I show this in the application. One of the way I was thinking was to take the PAT(profit after tax) figure of the startups and calculate my equity earnings and enter this, but this value is too subjective and the valuations may be misleading for a startup however I can attach a 20% tolerance to this. Can I do it this way or can I enter the last drawn salary from an IT company which was in Sept 2007. Please suggest.
Thank You
Nikil
Nikil,
September 2007 salary slip will not suffice. Please submit your latest IT return.

Dear Gurpreet
There is no upper age limit to apply to ISB. In fact, in the current batch we have a 52 year old gynecologist as a student. There are no criteria of limiting the no. of students belonging to a specific age group.

If you submitted the application last year and paid the application fee, then we will cross-check the new application with the old one. My advice to you will be that you write about your goof up in the optional essay and explain the whole situation properly. However, if you did not pay the fee, then you need not worry as your application would not have been processed.

Vaibhav,
As I mentioned earlier, we do a holistic evaluation of your profile. A good GMAT score does not guarantee admission to ISB but it will help you considerably. You can write about your poor academic record and the reasons behind it in the optional essay.
Regarding your work exp, if this experience is full-time and if you can support this with relevant documents in your application, you can apply. The quality and relevance of your experience in your business will be critical. Recommendations from your father, friends and family will not be accepted. You should furnish recommendation from people with whom you have a strictly professional interaction like your clients, vendors etc.

Sir,
I have around four years experience and a very good gmat score. What is really backing me is my under graduate maarks since I had a tough time in completing it. Can you tell me how far it is going to affect my admission?
