I got in today for the May cohort ...

May 2009..??

Did anyone defer to the Spring 2010 Cohort?

Hi,
I have applied for the fall 2009 cohort of Ivey on March 2nd and got a confirmation of the receipt of my completed application on March 9th. Iam yet to hear back from them. Given that it is end of March already, Iam a bit concerned.

Can anyone tell me how much time does it take for Ivey (typically) to get back with interview call after receiving the completed application?

I applied on 4th March 09 and got an interview call on 18th. So, u can say, about 2 weeks they take. My first inteview was on 24th March. They responded on it on 31st March. The second interview with their Career Services team is scheduled on 14th April. So, again, they have taken 3 weeks' time between 1st i/v and 2nd i/v.

Hey guys and gals, I've got GMAT 660, AWA 4.5, 6 yrs exp, average acada, very good co-curriculars. Those who got through, can you please share ur details? It will give me an idea of my chances.

And how do you guys plan on the 'funding' thing? Any ideas you want to share on this?

hey demandez, congrats. I'm a new joinee here on PG. Refering to your point number 2, about the financing, what options one has apart from the 20 lakhs one gets from the bank. I've GMAT 660, AWA 4.5, 60% in Btech, 6 yrs exp, very good co-curriculars. Have given the 1st interview, and will be giving the second interview on 14th April (for the fall 2009 admissions). So, I think I have a good chance. But am extremely worried about the financial-part. I've got 5 lakhs of my own funds, and will get 20 lakhs from bank. But that leaves a hole of 15 lakhs, and I have no idea about how will I be able to arrange for that extra dough. Do u have any idea about other ways of raising funds?

Hello premprakash133,
Thanks for your response. Just got the interview call today..:-)

Thx

Hi mgb1,

I had an admit to Richard Ivey class of 2009 Spring cohort. But due to financials constraints, I have differed the admit to April 2010. Next year they are going to club the two cohorts into a single one I believe.

Do PM me ur contact details and email address. let's touch base sometime... BTW, where in Canada r u?

Regards,
Anubhav

Dear mgb1, thanks for the support. You being a Canadian, I want to ask you- is it possible to get some Canadian co-signer for study loans from Canadian banks? I don't know anybody in Canada, but if you know, you can probably share this with somebody who is ready to become a co-signer. In India the interest rate is around 8% to 13%. In Canada, I think it hovers around 5-6%. If somebody is ready to become my co-signer, I'm ready to pay him/her the difference in the interest rates in India and Canada (i.e. around 2% of the loan). I hope you understand what I want to say! Please respond back if its possible to have this kind of arrangement?

I am not sure who will be willing to do so and what the process is. I won;t be able to do it since I already have multiple loans assigned to me but i can ask around and see.

I advice you to talk to indians who came to Canada for an MBA and see what they did.

Did you get in at Ivey already?

No, I have the career services interview on 14th April. But I need to proactively search for my funding options now itself, so that in case I get in , I have something ready to execute.

Hi, is anyone here a current Ivey student? How are this year's placements looking? The may cohort is about done.. how did those students do?
Thanks!

@MBAckstage...hello... good to know that you are interested in Ivey !! i am a current student .. in fact just joined this year and couple of weeks into the course..I could meet many people from may cohort and sep cohort...it seems the placement in may cohort is quite good...considering the current economic condn.. and comparing with other schools in North america.. around 40 to 50 from a class of 70 have a job offer..i have to give you a range because there are some who are yet to confirm the offers..there are some people who are going back to their own business and some are starting something by themselves.. so overall it s a decent scene..with most of the international students landing with an offer ... the significant thing here is that the quality of jobs are really good...( unlike just placements , they are quality placements)BUt the scene with the september cohort is not that bright.. only few people have an offer in hand now.. it is because they are in a different recruiting cycle.. most finance and consulting companies here recruit in september, which comes in the middle for may..but at the end for sep cohort...hope you understand...the best thing is that the students here are not worried about this and they feel that there is all chance that each of them will get exposed to good opportunities..do let me know if you need any specific info on ivey or anything related to this.

Thks satya for sharing the news...
Do share us your Ivey experience as and when possible!!!

Regards
Arul

I have got an admit for the April 2010 intake. Looking to send in my acceptance to ivey in a week's time.

I have benefited a lot from the discussions here but never contributed. Thought will start with a first post and will be a good way to get in touch with April 2010 ivey colleagues.

Schools applied to (3)
IESE (Spain) - Reject
IE (Spain) - Admit
Ivey (canada) - Admit

It was at first difficult to pass the IE admit with its high rankings in FT. But the European union (strict control) and potential language issues (Spanish) made me think twice.

I got very good vibes about Ivey looking at its Ivey career services as well as the feed back of current students. Visa (post-MBA) is almost a non-issue in Canada. I went through a couple of Management Consulting firms websites and all the big firms definitely recruit from Ivey.

Profile:
Good acads, GMAT: 730/5.5, average extra-curriculars, 4 yrs work ex (5 yrs before MBA start)

Hi gallahad,

I too have been offered an April 2010 admission, and will be sending my deposit in the next couple of weeks. My stats - 730 gmat, average extra curriculars but strong community work, almost 4 years experience (little less than 5 by the time the mba starts).

Looks like we will be in the same class now...

Hi Satya
Sure would defly keep in touch. Yeah do have good time plan for things in advance for next April. Apparently the PKP program starts mid March. Looking forward to your help till then. Can I have your email id?

Hi mbaZing
congraats to you too !!!
letz stay in touch

cheers

@Gallahad and @Mbazing: Congrats on getting through ..!! Now it makes 3 of us on this forum for the april 2010 intake.
Do share with me your contact information and let's get in touch. My financial constraints were a little tight and hence I had to defer my admission to Spring 2010 cohort. Do let me know how you both are planning to finance the studies. Any inputs may benefit me :)

@Galahad, just an advice, remove your email address before the mods come in and shunt you down. Sharing of contact information on public forum is banned. Send a PMN to satya for details.

@Satya, we never got in touch earlier. But I was in touch with Arun who is with you these days. Hope everything's fine at your end..

Anubhav

Hey Anubhav,
good to see you here... seems like a decent crowd from india...hope to find some more in days to come...!!

It s good that you all got in early and assured of your plans next year !! Do let me know or PM me if you require any help...

financing you study is an issue...but if you are going to become an MBA , you will do much more financing ... this is a good starting point...Loans in canada are cheap.. but you can get that only when you complete your course and get a Permanent Residency status here.. If you can arrange some money from some personal sources, you should go ahead...because you can refinance that after coming to canada and getting a really low cost - loan here..You have a lot of time to figure out all the avenues now...try researching some on the web .. cost of living is very low in London.. It is only the tuition fees that forms the biggest part of your expense..Calculate your total expense accordingly and plan for it..
