Ivey Mba

Hi premprakash!!!

I have an Ivey admit for spring 2010. Just wanted to clarify a few doubts

In the offer letter it is mentioned that I have to send across a check of $5000 alongwith the pledge to Ivey. I have a few queries
1. The amount of $5000 is in terms of Canadian dollars or US dollars.
2. Is this amount subtracted from our tuition fees
3. Roughly how much extra do banks charge for preparing a cheque in dollars.

Thanks and Regards

Adi

Hi Aditya
I have paid the 5000 CAD fees with the acceptance pledge too.
1. Yes it is in CAD (Canadian dollars)
2. Yes it is subtracted from your total fees.
3. This depends on the bank. I took a Demand Draft / bank draft in Canadian dollars. Standard bank charges did apply. Don't remember the charges.

Hi all
check out the Ivey online application...
The Essays have been changed!!

I too am interested in Ivey.

My profile: 5 years work ex in IT, GMAT 730... Decent extra curriculars and community service.

I'm targeting the May 2010 intake.

I got accepted to the Fall 09 class on Friday! Look forward to seeing some of you there!

Thanks for letting us know about change in essays.. but this is heights from Ivey. They haven't even intimated us on the change in essays. If I wouldn't have seen your post, I would have kept writing older essays. Now just 2 weeks left, I wonder if i'll get to finish essays in time.

Hi Guys,

I am looking to apply for the Spring 2010 intake. In regards to the essay change, I finished all 3 of the old ones and when I was about to post it in the application, I saw they changed. I was waiting for my reference to submit, and it was changed.

I ended up calling Ivey and spoke to Heather at addmission and was told you can use the old ones. Since they did not warn us of the change they said that people to plan to apply soon, just post the old essay question in the answer and bold it so they know. This is not a problem and normal procedure.

Hope this helps anyone who is done the old essays and does not want to do the new ones.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply!! I also mailed the admission committee and confirmed the same. I am feeling a lot relieved now..:lookround:

Hi ppl...
Ivey has give a new look to its website too :)
Check it out.. i think it is lot cooler :)

Just a quick question for anyone else who has applied. When you apply and they get all your needed info (GMAT, Transcripts, References etc...) how long does it take to hear back if you will be selected for an interview? Also, if you are not accepted, do they send you a rejection letter to notify you that you are being rejeted?

This is my first time applying to an MBA so any info would be great.

Thanks,

- I guess it will vary based on the time you apply and the volume of applications during that time. For me it was around 3 weeks from the time I applied that I heard back asking me to choose a slot for 1st interview. Similarly ~2-3 weeks after 1st interview I was scheduled for 2nd interview with career services.

Also, if you are not accepted, do they send you a rejection letter to notify you that you are being rejeted?

- I assume they would inform through email or through the insidetrack. If you have not heard back in a long time you can check through email.

I had submitted my application to Ivey but haven't received any reply from them yet. What kind of profiles does Ivey look for normally? My profile -

GMAT - 740
WE - 5.5 yrs (Feb, 2010)
Decent acads and EC.

Hi puriaseem
your profile is definitely very competitive. I think you just need to be patient. I would wait until a month's time from the time of submission of the application for a interview call or any response before pinging the admissions committee. You could probably send a mail to ensure that all your application components have been received and verified to be complete.

I have applied for the May 2010 cohort and I have application question. How do you send your official transcripts to Ivey? Should I send a attested photocopy in post? I am right now in the US and I have no clue how to get photocopies of my transcripts attested.
Please advice.

Request your university to send the sealed transcripts directly to ivey. Don't they entertain online requests or phone requests?

General requirement is that your transcripts needs to be attested by your university and sealed. If you univ. is willing to send it directly to Ivey (of course they will charge you) then do that. Otherwise authorize someone to collect it from yout. and send it to you and you can send it over to Ivey.

Request the masterminds to share some of their knowledge..

1/ Are there any scholarships available at IVEY?

2/ My Gmat score is 640, Total work ex would be around 7 yrs at the time of joining- Retail,Marketing( Start Ups) and now Brand Consulting. Have done my B.tech and Post Grad in Retail Management from NIFT.

I would be reta king GMAT in oct end.

Is it advisable to apply in R1 with 640 or in R2 with an increased score

Hello Guys,

I am joining the IVEY 2010 spring cohort and I am searching for information regarding the recruitment stats of the current class. I want to specifically know how many Indian students were successful to get hold of a job within the first 3 months and whats their annual CTC. Also, will be helpful if one can shed light on the actual ground situation in canada in terms of jobs and opportunities.

Thnx in advance !

1. Yes merit based scholarships are available at Ivey.

2. This decision is really yours. My 2 cents : Apply whenever you are comfortable and when you believe you have a strong application.
Use the mean and median gmat scores (in the links below) to benchmark yourself. If you fall mid range or below, then you need other application components (essays, profile, extra-curriculars, leadership experience etc.) to be stronger.

Having said that there are advantages of applying early in terms of available scholarships and since admissions are done on a rolling basis. So you need to weigh your risks and returns. Good luck!
