Congratulations on your offer from Queens. It is a good school and the program is strong as well.
You have a good chance at Ivey as well. I bet you could be in a fix on which one to select.

For Queens, when did you submit your application and when were you interviewed.
I guess their Round 1 deadline is in November. Did they have any early application option?

Queens also has rolling admission system, means you can apply and they will start considering your application. I was interviewed on August first week.
I was told initially that admission committee is out for MBA tours so the decision may be delayed to Sep. end , but to my surprise it came yesterday....

congrats Bobby...Queens is rapidly rising in the rankings and def has a good brand name in canada..

With your own efforts you can def do well and succeed in ur career goals post the MBA

Keep rocking bro

cheers

I know it has been discussed before.. Just wanted to know which one has a better brand value.. queens or rotman.. I am planning to apply to 1 of them in case I get a ding.. so wanted to be sure of my choice.

Aseem
It totally depends upon you future aspirations. If you are looking for one year mba then queens and if you can spend more time and want to go towards finance especially then rotman.
Rotman enjoys advantage of location in big city.

Other in forum aslo can shed some light

I am actually open for both 1 yr as well as 2 yrs MBA. I want to do it in technology consulting. And at the end of the day, I want to do it from a school which gets me a better career jump..

Rotman's is more recognized in Canada, but Queen'shas an amazing program and it is 1 years, which is better for some poeple.

Good luck to all those of you are in the admissions process or eagerly waiting for the results!

My 2 cents, based on the research I had done (could be repeated info u have already seen). :)

Rotman has done an awesome job of itz branding (mainly due to the dean). It is a good place for finance oriented careers (core competence). (not implying that u don't get into other industries there.). Further if you are willing to invest 2 yrs in your mba, making a career shift (changing role, industry) should be easier than in other places, given that you have an intership opportunity.

Queens used to brand itself as the mba for science and technology people. Not sure if they are still doing it. As tdadic84 says it is an amazing program.

When I started applying I was inclined towards a 1 yr mba, but was equally interested and neutral between Queens and Ivey. Talking to people I heard that London has a bit of location advantage over Kingston. The fact that Ivey figures in the FT rankings (at par or above Rotman), and the vibes I got from Ivey's career services efforts tilted me towards Ivey.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the replies.. since I am planning to do it in tech consulting, based on your replies I think it makes more sense in applying to Queens than Rotman.. hoping that I get thru Ivey and don't have to choose between Queens and Rotman..:)

Not digressing from the thread, where we are having healthy discussions abt Queens, IVEY, rotman, was curious if all of u only applying to Canada..?? or ppl are applying to US and Europe as well..

Anyways i got a mail from IVEY, saying i am an excellent fit for their program based on my resume....and they encourage me to apply ( My back ground is Retail Ops/ Marketing and Now Brand Consultancy) total exp 7 yrs...

Hope its not a standard template which they send to everyone...

Cheers

I got a similar reply when I sent my resume for evaluation to Ivey. It's a standard template I believe. But otherwise also your profile looks very strong.. :).. ATB.

did anybody ask after interview about the results? How long did they say?

I didnt ask but I have heard people saying that it will take 2-3 weeks.. i think it wont come before 20 Sep..

Brandmanager,

This is a standard template they send when you submit your resume. I got one last year As long as you meet the minium, I think they send it.

Thanks Tdadic and aseem,

I guessed so...though i received the mail for the second time. First time i got it over 2 months back when i submitted my resume, then again a day ago ( though the wordings were diff, and this time the mail loked a lil more personal) anyways...does not matter...

I feel that my profile is competitive and I would get an admit so i would apply,it then boils down to the school what they think of me:-)

anyways coming back, are u guys only applying to Canada or thinking of US & Europe as well...and if yes which schools...

cheers

As of now, applying only to Ivey.. but thinking of applying to other US schools in case I get a ding from Ivey.. Nothing in Europe as such..

so very focussed abt IVEY...must have done some solid research bro...

any inputs abt the school, placements for indians etc

Hello,

I will be applying to Ivey, rotmans and maybe queens in canada...after that my plan in the US.....dont know which schools yet..

I am going to the MBA fair in Toronto on Sunday to see all the schools. I do not think I will be applying to an European MBA's, althoughI know there are some really great ones there...especially in London...

I got a feeling we will be hearing from Ivey next week on decisions.
