demandez, thanks for your response... after the first round of interview, will the admission committee fix the interview with career service team ?

Thats the way it worked for me - first the admissions interview and then the career services interview. But Ive seen people getting both the interview requests at the same time. I dont think that Ivey has a short-listing/selection criteria after the first interview.

Its likely that if a candidate gets a call for one of the interviews, he gets the call for the other(irrespective of the order), unless Ivey is totally convinced that the candidate is a misfit.

I think the old Ivey thread at PG had a very good list of questions posted by those who were interviewed. I wonder why ppl aren't checking that one either. And the accepted.com site has my feedback as well- guys, please post your feedback. It is a sinple matter of give and take 😃

pushing_hard,

There's no rule that all the applicants will have 2 interviews. Only if the career services dept. feels that they need to interview( don't know whats their criteria), they will do that. But majority of the applicants go thru the 2 stage interview process. Career services dept. arranges the interview on their own and not thru adcom. You don't need to do anything about it, just wait, Ivey folks will contact you thru e-mail. But you can always write to them..there's no harm. I've found the Ivey folks to be very approachable.

Pushing_hard,

I had applied for Fall 2009, that suits me better . But during my interview with career Services Dept. they recommended that I opt for Spring cohort. As per them, most of the consulting firms recruit during Sept and by starting my program in Spring i'll be better prepared.

But if go for a Pre-MBA internship with BCG or Monitor Group...You'll have to join in Fall co-hort. But I guess if one is able to secure an internship with BCG... one will be able to convert it into a job offer. but you never know....I'm delaying my decision till end of this month.

Thanks demandez,

Well the result will tell how well the interviews went . I feel they went good. I shared a couple of laughs with the interviewer..it was more like an informal chat. Just like any adcom, they weren't drilling , just trying to understand me as a person.

I was pretty impressed by the clear and honest answers that they gave in response to my questions.

To All who have admits, have applied or r planning to do so:

It would be very nice if someone, who visited the school, can share his/her experience. I browsed thru the Album that Ivey has uploaded on Facebook. Its strange but it might be just me, I felt as if Canadians and international students don't mix well. There are snaps where in all are whites, another with all desis and another with all caucasians. Haven't actually seen people mixing around. Howz the actual environment at Ivey..do international students feel welcome at the school? Don't know about others but its a big concern for me.

Any views?

thank you so much for the information. hope i get to hear from the team soon.. during the interview i was told that i will have my next interview with career management team but again the results of mine would be published some time in the month of October and not during September, as i had applied a bit late!

Hello,

Thanks for your useful posts on the int' experience. Even i was given 3rd week of AUg for my 2nd interview. I preponed that by 10 days. After the iterview they told me that it should not take more than 3 weeks. and this is the 3rd week. I am expecting some news now.

It seems that they have recieved lots of applications in last few days..

But i did nt see many admits..till now..All the very best to all those who are applying...

Didn't they tell you at the end of the interview? You can expect to hear back from them in the Sept last week.

I know what I'm gonna do till Sept end :drinking:

Satya_351, huge volume in applications could be because of the deadline.

Its just the additional interview (career services) that makes Iveys interview process different from other schools. So, I dont think Ivey career services team could ever waive of this off.

career management interviews all candidates considered for admission, and continues to work with students from application to graduation

And yeap, I do agree that career services team arranges interviews on its own. However, the adcom thoroughly evaluates the feedback provided by the career team, before making a final decision.

Guys, Id just wanted to clarify on the pre-MBA internship thingy.
Last year, Ivey did offer pre-MBA summer internship opportunities with BCG and Monitor Group, to students who got admitted for the May Cohort. Both firms accepted applications in December/January and conducted interviews in Feb. Selected students were granted a deferred admission to start the classes in fall. Following pages contain some relevant information:

FAQ: Is it true that Ivey offers pre-MBA consulting internships? If so, how do I apply?
And I haven't received updates on such opportunities for this year, yet. I'll update you, should I get some additional info.
Thanks demandez,

Good that youd enjoyed the interviews.

To answer your concerns on the socializing aspects between Indians and Canadians, I dont think there should ever be a problem. Ive two reasons for this:
1.Indians form less than 10% in the class (around 7-8 guys). This automatically compels one to socialize not with friends but with classmates, given the rigor of the program and mutual dependencies that exist amongst students.
2.Canada is a receptive country for international skilled talent(this is more obvious from the new regulations on work permits offered for international students studying in Canada).

Check this http://www.sdc.uwo.ca/int/documents/prearrival/9_Canadian_Culture.pdf for information on Cultural shocks, Canadian Culture, Race relations, Canadian Perceptions, questions to avoid, etc. You may also want to review this International Student Services.

There is a surge in bschool applications this year, due to the global economic slowdown. Ivey is no exception :)

yeah , i do agree on that.. let me keep my fingers crossed and hope for a good result...
