@tanveer sir what is the difference between a conclusion and an inference, deduction and induction? is there any sure shot way to weed out the two from the options.

Deduction = based on thinking not on experience

Induction = based on experience

Conclusion = based on all the data provided by the author

Inference = data + assumption = inference .. ( so it is a type of conclusion in which you make an assumption a jump a leap from the data provided to reach the final lap)

The difference between an inference and a conclusion CLAT Gyan CLAT Legal Aptitude | CLAT Logical Reasoning CLAT General Knowledge
I said ETCE because of your GPA......such a GPA is only posssible in ETCE, CSE or IT.....

And I do know that scoring a 9.36 isn't easy......am an alumni of JU-ETCE itself......and I do remember the engg drawing, electrical machines, carpentry and all those stufff which weren't easy to score in......you obviously have put in a lot of effort......if you hadn't (like I didn't), you would have ended up with a lesser GPA (like my 8.5 )......

:nono: IT
Our topper had scored 9.08, and there were just 3 who had crossed 9.0.
Also One Interesting observation for Final year students...:)...Yes Nishant I'm making a case for myself here....a guy who's poor in acads...

One of my batchmates, with a final CGPA of 8.46 had converted IIM S in his first CAT attempt while in his final yr, but later though his %ile increased, he never got an S call as his 8.46/10 was 79.88% OA. As for JU the CGPA to % conversion is not there till the last sem, and only the final % is mentioned in the Final Grade Sheet, Grad Marks reduce after u passout.

Take my example...8.02/10, but 74.5% OA.
So as per IIMA criteria, in case i would have written 80.2% as many do,
My AR would have been 3*3*3 + 3 =30
But now it is 3*3*2 + 3 = 21 only

BTW...IIMA is meant for the elite class, and quality of workex also matters...
Hello everyone,
I saw the discussion on this question that I was recently came across, but haven't understood the logic behind the answer.Would be really grateful if somebody provides an explanation to this.
Directions:- Statements 1 and 6 are fixed as first and last sentences of the paragraph. Arrange A,B,C,D in between them in such a way that they make a coherent paragraph.
Question:
1.Experts think that our planning has failed miserably.
A. Thus we have not succeeded in establishing a socialistic pattern of society.
B. A good percentage of our population is still living below the poverty line.
C. Thirty years of planning has failed to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor.
D. The rich have grown richer and the poor poorer.
6. Still we hope for a better planning and a better way of life.

1. Cbda 2. Cbad 3. Bcda 4. Cdba

The answer is (1)

Sentence 1 mentions planning has failed ...same key word in C ..so eliminate option 3 which starts with B ....A is a definite conclusion for those 4 sentences and a link to 6 so it has to come at the end so option 2 is riled out ... question is bd makes more sense or db makes more sense..?D flows into A better.. Hence option 1

Hi,
As far as I know this year IIMA had AR cut-off 21.. Plz rectify me if I am wrong.
The
3 which you have added corresponds to how many years of work-ex ?

Think So, I have 35 mnths till May,2012.
Also, i did manage to get a call, but didn't convert it.....

For IIMA, one needs things beyond CAT score and all, to convert.....

ATB Leon88 for ur next CAT....dun worry much about the criteria, it's beyond anyone's control..

Try and maximise ur score...things will fall in place...

Then I guess things have changed in IT......in our batch there was news that the topper in the 1st sem got a perfect 10......

Yea that percentage conversion is tricky......I stayed in contention for IIMA just by a whisker......my 8.6 comes out as 80.63 %......

do you know how JU converts GPA to equivalent percentage.?.any formula or something.?.:P
same question for @nishant,in case you know.

While calculating percentage, the actual scores are taken.....like they do in board exams......

So a 83 will be taken as 83 and not as 90 though 83 corresponds to 9 points......

Usually, the final percentage is roughly about 6-7% less than your GPA*10......

The irony of JU's CGPA to % conversion rule is: students have to remain in dark about their % until the final semester's result comes out. And sadly, the % matters everywhere, and cgpa is counted for nothing while applying to B-Schools.

PS: Mine is 79.80% while Cgpa is 8.61..... that's why all these frustrations

Damn Unlucky....

But u can get an A Call, if i can then anyone can, and with ur acads, make sure u convert it......as of now focus on 2k12

PS : The last few posts, seems like a "JU Study group" 😃
Hi Jayant !

Congrats on the IIM K convert!!:)

TIME's usual database for Mock CAT series is unlikely to take a hit this year because as of now VM is unable to provide the Mock series option . ( VM counsellors say the test series will start in August . This is what some students told me . Please correct me if I am wrong!) So - by default the students continue to flow to TIME!!

No I would beg to differ from you bro because whenever there is a split of a group into two or for that matter whenever a new child comes out of parent then parent also get to suffer , its a natural phenomenon!

Here in also the TIME has to shift its locations from jodhpur park , saltlake etc to different places like jadavpur etc , so they are also starting afresh from those centers , just what they carry is the tag(TIME) but they don't have old renowned faculties like SAMRAT sir, ANKURAN sir and yes SAJAL MITRA and RAHUL REDDY sir etc(maybe u guys wud hv known them had you associated urself with TIME before the split or april 2012 or so !!) So these peoples have hell lot of contact/database to start their own establishment! And do remember faculty matters in any insti whether b-school or a mere coaching insti!!

Also there will be people who will b confused vch 1 to join between VM(due to faculty bigwigs associated with it) and TIME(due to tag) , so they will land up joining CL or IMS vch gonna have some serious benefit out of it!!

So, Due to all these the AIMCAT base of TIME is bound take a hit this time which ultimately wont give you a fair idea of cmparative performance! And hence CL 's base will surely increase!

Anyway take an informed decision thats all what I can say!!
And oh yeah thanx 4 d wish(fr my convert)!!

P.S:- Just for your info I am a TIME Jodhpur Park guy , was in superlong batch vch started way back in july 2010 and ended with my converts :grin:!!
hey count me in...

and sure we can help each other...

M planning to join a test series..... either time or career launcher...

Plz suggest...

Career Launcher

Seeing all this..was thinking of mentioning my case..though quite different as i belong to WBUT.

Percentage is simply (GPA-0.75)*10
My CGPA-8.74 Hence Percentage 79.99 I dont realise how much would that 0.01% dent my chances

BTW I'm Siddhartha,Jalpaiguri Govt 2009 passout.Seriously looking for a good group to study/discuss problems. Hece Count me in.

Bhai,
There has been a lot of discussion on this issue : CGPA to %age Conversion for WBUT students....but still I see some follow the rule which you have mentioned while some multiply the CGPA by 10.I have also asked fellow puys regarding this, searched on net etc. but still I doubt this rule as there is no concrete proof for the same.
I would like to hear abt. this from a WBUT student who has attended GDPI session & also got admission.

I concur on this... the original brand TIME has suffered and so has thousands of students associated with TIME ... I am a TIME park street student and i had to get my account verified three times to get my online account activated (They simply said the earlier verifications were not recorded :|) .
The most baffling thing now is that they had provided us with only two centres for the invigilated mocks , that too only in the weekends...

I fail to understand how they will fit so many students into this .... INSANE ...
surely students will miss the mocks ... and the number of students taking the mocks will go down . Eventually you will have lesser students to compare yourself to...:banghead::banghead::banghead:

P.S. :If you really need to find how bad has it hurt them ( TIME ) , please visit the New Alipore center ... Truth will hit you HARD

(GPA*10)-.75 its the only one method for wbut student to calculate %. Now its normally calculated on GPA*10. But some co. yet use (GPA*10)-.75.
