TIME's usual database for Mock CAT series is unlikely to take a hit this year because as of now VM is unable to provide the Mock series option . ( VM counsellors say the test series will start in August . This is what some students told me . Please correct me if I am wrong!) So - by default the students continue to flow to TIME!!
Sirjee aap kab se students ki baat maan ne lag gaye?? I dont think the counsellors would have told anything to any students about the mock yet. VM will be able to provide a mock series option and hopefuly we will start the test series from this month only. :) Mere baat pe toh dbt nahi hoga aapko?? :P Anyways i do agree that TIME's database wont be hit by much, atleast this year.Once all the confusion gets cleared (reagrding who is student of TIME and who is from VM ),we will get a better idea, which coaching centre has been hit how much
The roots of x^3 + p(x^2) + qx + r=0 are consecutive positive integers.Which of the following can never be the value of q??
(A) 47 (B) 11 (C) 107 (D) 27
Kidly, help me with the solution of the above mentioned problem.......
as roots are consecutive +ve integers, we can take the roots as (k-1), k and (k+1) so the general equation will be like (x-k+1)(x-k)(x-k-1) = 0 by simplifying the equation, we will get : x^3 - 3k(x^2) + (3k^2-1)x + k(1-k^2) = 0 now comparing with the original equation, q = 3k^2-1 if k = 2, q = 11 if k = 3, q = 26 if k = 4, q = 47 if k = 5, q = 74 if k = 6, q = 107 so among the given options, 27 is not the value which q can have.
Didn't know such a thread existed......will surely contribute wherever possible...... :)
Based on this I can say with decent amount of confidence that its JU-ETCE......if not it has to be IT or CSE......
So true Nishant Da. Am a student of JU as well & know it pretty certainly the scorings of ETCE here. Just to share a fact:
In a sem, i heard 10+ students got 9.5+.......Don't mind but it seems pretty possible only in ETCE (Of JU).....Our topper keeps on reading & reading( lyk a superman) & has a CGPA till date 9.3....(Myself...let me keep it to myself to avoid "Public Embarrassment")... Anyway, was unaware of this thread. Nice to join.
:nono: IT Our topper had scored 9.08, and there were just 3 who had crossed 9.0. Also One Interesting observation for Final year students...:)...Yes Nishant I'm making a case for myself here....a guy who's poor in acads...
One of my batchmates, with a final CGPA of 8.46 had converted IIM S in his first CAT attempt while in his final yr, but later though his %ile increased, he never got an S call as his 8.46/10 was 79.88% OA. As for JU the CGPA to % conversion is not there till the last sem, and only the final % is mentioned in the Final Grade Sheet, Grad Marks reduce after u passout.
Take my example...8.02/10, but 74.5% OA. So as per IIMA criteria, in case i would have written 80.2% as many do, My AR would have been 3*3*3 + 3 =30 But now it is 3*3*2 + 3 = 21 only
BTW...IIMA is meant for the elite class, and quality of workex also matters...
You tore apart CAT in 2011 as far as i know from TF & PG postings of urs with a 99.9+%tile. Which B-School r u joining this year? Plz share ur exp if possible with not so bright mortals lyk us.
Hi puys! Can any1 help me out with these questions please??
I have attached the pic.Kindly,explain the solutions(any1).........:)
1st question : total sales in base n = 51*35 = 1785. Its decimal equivalent = 936 So 1*n^3 + 7*n^2+ 8*n +5 = 936..also answer = 5n +1 (since it is the decimal equivalent of 51) you can rule out option 1 and 4 on the basis of this..for 5n+1 =36,n=7 and for 41,n=8. now n should be odd to satisfy that 936 wala equation..so answer 7.
2nd question : 40 = 5*8 ; 88 = 8*11 ; 154 = 11*14..59290 = 242*245 the difference between the factors is 3 in all cases..I think you'll be able to do the rest.
Joining the group.. i have been taking CATfr the past couple of years and ws Waitlisted fr hrm in XLRI.. just missed the bus as my final staus ws WL 2.. I hope i can crack it big time this year..
if you are looking for classroom....then go for cl park street....with time undergoing a change in franchise..it would be advisable to go for experienced cl.....but do also go for aimcat test series along side......
Hi I was wondering which coaching institute to join in Kolkata? Time, CL or IMS? Also whether the park street branches are better than the rest?
Yes CL is much sought after training insti in KOL.Yes,some of the Park street branches are better than rest .You can also join aimcat test series as sreedipto pointed out.All the bst
