A compelling read for all the MBA Admission Seekers:
WORDS BY MUNISH SHARMA ( AIR - 2, UPSC 2013):
India
continues her ascent on a promising growth trajectory, and there is an
emergent need to fix accountability in business world, as far as
challenges of sustainability, social responsibility and equity are
concerned. Management education, though sometimes discredited for being
spread too thin, is a great enabler to apprise oneself of these
challenges.
Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM)
provides a unique blend of management education with responsibility and
ethics, and rightly so, for it is named after a man, who stands like a
beacon amongst the galaxy of great leaders, when it comes to virtues of
righteousness and moral fortitude. It is a matter of great joy that the
place where I am for IAS training - Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy
of Administration (LBSNAA) - is also named after him. At LBSNAA, I look
at Shastriji's granite statue daily, on my way to classes, and reaffirm
the commitment I made to myself when I got admission at LBSIM - to
aspire for perfection, without compromising with values, ethics and
morals.
LBSIM is a great place with unmatched pedagogy and academic rigour. No
wonder, in UPSC 2013 exams, highest marks in management optional were
scored by an LBSIM alumnus; and candidates from all B-Schools were in
fray.
I exhort all alumni and current students to live these values
and contribute not just towards nation building, but also towards
ensuring a better planet, immaterial of your vocations.

I, Vishal Sukhija, from Hissar
(Haryana) completed my schooling and shifted to Delhi to pursue graduation. I graduated
in B.Com (H) from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, Delhi University. DU life was
carefree and in those 3 years I visited every nook & corner of Delhi to
please my taste buds as I am a food-o-holic.
However, when I joined LBSIM I
realized that life at a B-School was completely different. It changed from mall
visits in evening and hanging out with friends to completion of group tasks and
assignments. Case Studies & PPTs became my new companions. In the last one
year here, I have received lots of love and learning from the LBSIM family.
Being a student driven institute, LBSIM inculcates teamwork and leadership in
the true sense. The continuous feedback from faculty on both academic and soft
skills has transformed my personality.
I participated in almost every
major activity at LBSIM which has helped in the holistic development. It
enabled me to discover a lot of strengths and weaknesses I was previously
unaware of. At LBSIM, I have been a part of the Finance & Debating Club. I
won 1st Prize in Dishank Finance Module which was the first task we
got and the first award in the series of awards that came my way.
Recently, I, along with one of my
friends won the 1st Prize at NMIMS Bangalore Finance Summit. It was
a memorable and enthralling experience. Not only did it fill me with pride, but
also made me aware of the endless possibilities one can achieve through hard
work.
One of the memorable experience
from LBSIM that I will cherish for life is my PPT for Management Grid Selection,
a student body at LBSIM. After the PPT, more than 250 students present in the
auditorium gave me a standing ovation and that moment gave me so much
confidence and took away stage fear from me completely. A lot of my success and
development was only possible due to the endless opportunities to excel that
came my way at LBSIM. @LBSIM
Get ready to dive into the world of Human Resource Management with some of the most renowned and knowledgeable speakers sharing their thoughts at the National HR Conference on "Transformation of Business: Innovative Practices in HR" @LBSIM, Delhi on 26th September, 2015.
I am Nimesh Pandey and I am from
Varanasi. I left Varanasi way back in 2007, over a decade now, but still a
benarasi at heart. Like millions of Indians I did B.Tech after school not
really knowing what the future holds for me. After 4 years of learning life and
society more than anything else I became an engineer, got a job at L&T
Infotech and felt like nothing could go wrong. The journey from Varanasi to
Delhi now extended itself to Mumbai - the so called mayanagri. Mumbai taught me
a lot, the first job, the first time living on my own money, and a lot more
firsts. Three years later life brought me back to Delhi this time as a post
graduate student in LBSIM.
The initial few months at LBS
were full of struggle. Getting in the mix of things at a college seemed
difficult after 3 years of corporate life. Whatsapp replaced email as the
official mode of communication, you had to sit at one place for 1.5 hrs which
was a pain back then (frequent-at-will tea breaks no more) and yes the
assignments and mid-terms how can I forget them. But one thing I have learned
in a quarter of a century is that time flies. And it did here too at LBS. life
became smooth, some wonderful classmates, helpful seniors and faculty members
and things became routine. Now, I have always had this love for debates,
meaningful discussions, logical and constructive arguments and I found the
perfect platform for the same here - DebSoc. I got involved with the club,
participated in a few competitions around India and helped the coordinator in
running the club. Thankfully my efforts were recognized and I was named
coordinator for DebSoc. I am hoping I can do good work with the club and all
its members and successfully defend our best club title.
B-schools are all about practical applications of
various management theories and that is what we do at LBS. The internship at
PwC gave me some opportunity of doing that. I like to end by thanking all the
seniors, faculty members and friends for making life easy at LBS. And with the
placement season just a month away I wish everyone good luck. May we all get
placed at the earliest and at the best places.
