Life at MDI

A week had passed by, quite a routine here..lectures start at 8.30 am, end at 5.30 pm with a few breaks in between. Projects pouring in from different faculty. A steady flow of surprise quizzes began. I thought that all my time would be taken up in this but then came club selections!!!. The club selections were taken very seriously by one and all. Some for the CV value it holds, some for the work that interests them. The routine procedure to get selected is based on a couple of things. The pre session assignment, which i had screwed up cos i joined late, a written test (for acad clubs), and a string of interviews......I wondered when would seniors get the time to do all this without bunking any lectures and I got my answer when the interview schedules were realised. Almost all interview schedules began at 7pm and going upto 4 in the morning. Over the next few days, I realised that its good bye to my lovely 10 hours of sleep. Even half of that was a treat here at MDI, the campus that never slept!!. A few more days went by, results announced, got through a few clubs and then voila, MID TERM EXAMS.....7 days later.....

Life in a B-school and What it should be....

Let us say when I came to MDI I thought i was the be all and end all of the world...only to find my self lost in the sea of extremely talened peers.
There are countless selections for clubs, committees as well as full on masti... late night parties...gaming..... long walks all make it an experience like no other... however, just a couple of months into the summers i realised that there is more to life than just masti and more to MDI than an MBA its known as an education... the rigour and the faliures all make you realise that often its better to lose to know the importance of winning and to be ready to stand up even when the pressure is excrutiating....

My request is to the incoming batch is that have your expectations set before coming here and like all places there will be gaps... try to shorten them and make this a worthwhile experience...

hey.. had a lil query
is the curriculum really very hectic? as in is it poss to give another genuine attempt at CAT after joining MDI?

pls reply soon.

Done with the induction at MDI. And man what a week it was! Full of rigour, sleeplessness and fun of course
The week started with a yoga session at 5.00 am on monday I was like what the Then the inauguration speeches followed. The whole day was packed with activities and sessions by prominent corporates. Sessions continued till evening after which we had the Director's dinner. All the following days had the same schedule of starting at 5.00 am with yoga, followed by loads of sessions, assignments, club presentations etc. Lunch and dinner duration was of 30-45 mins for a batch of 330 people But it all culminated on Saturday night on a brilliant note with a freshers party which had performances by seniors and juniors, dance, DJ and
All in all a week which will be difficult to forget for a long time to come

As the first term reaches its culmination, I reflect back upon the last 2.5 months and I say "WOW!". I wake up at 7am and sleep at 2am. Despite the fact that days become much longer than they used to be, time flies and HOW!
Seems like yesterday, when I entered the gates of MDI with my belongings and wanted to unpack asap to settle down in this beautiful place.

The first week i.e. induction week was an experience of a lifetime. As much as I hated it when I was going through those hectic days, I cherish them now when I recall the early morning Yoga sessions and when I think of how I could sleep with my eyes open (yes, it's true!)

The way the Induction week ended was absolutely... (I'm speechless)

Work hard, party harder...that's the mantra for every ManDevIan.

Cheers to the spirit of MDI

Its better to be roughly correct, than to be precisely wrong J.M. Keynes
The importance of a course such as BFBV (behavioral finance and business valuation, taught by Professor Sanjay Bakshi), was truly brought to the fore today, as the very concepts of modern corporate finance, such as the EMH, Sharpe Ratio and the CAPM model, were challenged and proven to be incorrect not by mathematical proof, but by appealing to simple logic.

Thought this thread was dead.....

It's that time of the year when the campus isn't really buzzing with so much activtity. Why? 'Cause the batch of 2011 is on its way back home! The best part is that even before they set foot in their hometowns, they start to feel boredom creep in. After having spent two years at MDI, staying anywhere else has to be less fun!
That's why Mandevians keep coming back to where they truly belong!

Fare well, PG09. Wish you luck.

Please like your Yearbook! 😉

I didnt have much expectation from mess food but The mess food has really surprised me. Its been amazing.
The number of clubs and activities at MDI is HUGE. Whether its related to academics, sports, cultural activities or management events, everybody can find something that interests him/her.
My respect for MDI has grown tremendously over the past one week.
MDI Rocks. ManDevIans Rock !!!

  2. Have you ever prepared presentations on unknown topics in just 30 min?
  3. have you ever finished breakfast/lunch/dinner in 10 min and parallely reading a case study?
  4. Have you ever attended lectures that is just a dialogue b/w students and professors?
  5. Have you ever felt that 2 hours of sleep is bliss?

Anyways , there are 240 seats of PGPM. 30 of PGPIM. 60 of PGPHR.

All has already been mentioned about the Induction week. Well some sense of normalcy has returned for now. Classes have begun. Case studies presentations quizzes are in the pipeline and various club selections coming up. Today we had a nice dinner party hosted by the director. Also the admissions for the HR and IM batches seems to have closed today. Coming up a pleasant (hopefully) weekend but i have a feeling this is the silence before the storm. ;)
