Holiday mood started @ BIM though we still have one more exam tomo (SSAD) ..Ppl are getting ready for their holidays ,wishing each other in person & thru' FB.Since tomo paper isn't that hard, ppl are relaxing after gruesome last week they had.... It's kind of big-relief !
Tomo & day after tomo a Business Analytics Workshop is conducted for 40 first year students ,which is expected to be so rigorous -would be close to 16 hours .... AFter that we would be flying off to our nestle ..waiting waiting....
well well well..... we're back... the college starts tomo after the holidays and everybody is coming back from home.... we are expecting one helluva fun @ BIM ....the flagship event Sangam , Cricket Tournament much more... lets wait n watch :)
Our Kalaicom's flagship event Sangam'11 got over just 2 days back.... Man what a fun we had !! The function was coupled with 24th & 25th batch convocation and hence so many seniors turned up and enjoyed the show. They did some guest performances besides our regale. It was an opportunity for them to re-live their past BIM days .We got to know about lot of them whom we had met in FB and had one helluva fun altogether......Personally, My friends & I performed Lilliputians dance, thanks to efforts of 35 people who involved in executing the dance to perfection ! Kudos to you guys :cheerio:
And that's not the end to it.....There's no dearth to celebration in the 3rd sem.... We are getting ready for Sportscomm's Wicket'11,Cricket Tournament, where 10 teams are gonna battle for the title .Sportscomm has about conducting this event in a magnitude we never expected. Our Finclub & Bismarc are coming together to entertain & engage the students through Marketing gimmicks and Team Trading.......
Followed by We have got Fox Trot - another child of our Kalaicom , Farewell for 26th batch ,Thanksgiving and so...
Ten days of non-stop cricketing action came to an end an hour ago. 1 run to win,1 ball to go,1 wicket in hand - can it get any better than this? The MARINES held their nerve to seal the win and lift the trophy in the end. Three cheers to them.
The runners-up GALACTICOS did well to strike with quick wickets after the MARINES were 60/1 in 7 overs, chasing 109 in 15 overs. They are now the only team to reach the finals of the football, volleyball and cricket tournaments.
Sportscomm could not have asked for a better tournament that was conducted in association with Bismarc and Finclub. The various off-field events such as super selector and predictor kept the supporters engaged during the day time.
All geared up for ATHENAEUM,international management conference tomorrow. I have an extra responsibility of being there at the venue as early as at 7 AM but still I've managed to find time to have a long chat with seniors at dinner and then head to the city to watch a movie and return at 1:30 AM. Life @ BIM rocks.
Mess committee has changed the mess menu and it appears to be for the good. Relished the tasty onion uthappams last night and tomorrow's going to be dosas all the way with options like chilly powder dosa and egg dosa.
Gearing up for the mid-terms which begin on Friday.Time for nightouts, group studies and for now,a cup of hot tea.
seems like u r enjoying a lot in BIM than CEG

howz the hostel life ??
i heard girls are always spending their time infront of the boys hostel early mornings????
wats ur advocacy in that issue???
And the 3rd sem midterms have begun and as usual ,sleepless nights started invading our life once again. As ppl started guzzling milk (provided by our mess) during exam-nights,there's a scarcity of milk and lot of ppl started cribbing about that .So we have requested our Messcomm to supply one more can of milk during exams - so you can imagine the number of insomniacs !
Personally,my bete noire,Corporate Finance paper got over today, which relieved off all my exam pressure.Though I have 4 more exams remaining ,I'm quite relaxed now.
Besides,we all are waiting for our 2011-2013 Admission shortlist so that we can start helping our fellow puys regarding our admission process.

Tea for me any day(or night, rather). There's sufficient quantity available till midnight. And these days we have Snack 'n' Bite feeding the hungry souls with cup noodles, puffs, muffins and cool drinks.
Somehow I feel the tea is gonna get exhausted soon as first years are already feeling sleepy after reading hardly 2 pages of HRM. So I am going now for my dose of tea. My neighbour will give me some badam milk later in the night
Macroeconomics exam tomorrow. Whole of BIM Street is reverberating with sounds of "Indian economy, is the best economy. Indian economy,is our economy".
It's been ages since i posted on PG...woah! Time does fly...more so in 2nd year...can't believe that we jus have another 50 days or so left of BIM Life...on one hand, yes , most of us are excited about getting to kick start our coroporate lives ...but on the other hand, we are most definitely going to miss skipping breakfast n rushing to classes jus to avoid being locked out, being woken up by professors after dozing off, those endless banters, floodlit matches, IP wars, cultural events, gossip at the tea place... ah i can't seem to be able to stop this ever-growing list!!...
well..enough of day nostalgic thoughts for now...strategic marketing beckons...got an exam in 2 hrs....the very last midterm exam of my life here...the end of which will be celebrated by the a batch trip to probably Kerala in a couple of weeks... π
Life@BIM is indeed exciting n is at its best in the final trimester π
@ lilly007/ Swetha,
Enjoy your last 50 days in BIM and carry some beautiful memories with you - I'm sure already you would have had much
And Puys,
Our GDPI shortlist for 2011-2013 was out two days back ,23th feb and 1200 calls have been given for 120 seats this time, slightly higher than last year. And ,unlike last time, this time interview is gonna be at 7 centers : New Delhi,Kolkata,Mumbai,B'lore,Hyd & Trichy. I believe the interview is gonna start somewhere in March end or April beginning.
And about our exams , we still have one more midterm left(ECG) Waiting for this torture to end .We had already planned for a trip to go after this mid terms.Let's hope it gets materialized to give us the much needed relief.
Done with midterms.Corporate Governance paper turned out to be easier than we expected.
We had the whole afternoon to chill out after a week of seemingly endless exams. Accompanied my teammates to Trichy Junction and after giving their bikes for servicing, went on a 12km bike ride from Srirangam to Kallanai along the Cauvery river. Spent about an hour at Kallanai taking photos at the three divergence points at Vennaar, Kollidam and Cauvery. Had dinner at Thiruverumbur before coming back to the hostel.
Classes resume from tomorrow. Back to business.
Our 2nd sem results were released on 24th Feb.But our SSAD marks and 2nd year's IT strategy marks are yet to get released as our Prof.Ramanathan seems to be very busy handling courses at various colleges and doesn't find enough time to correct papers yet ! We are expecting the consolidated results by this friday,04/03/11.
On marks front,we heard from our COE that 1st years have scored better in 2nd sem than in 1st sem
And the most awaiting FoxTrot is gonna happen by 7th of March.Meanwhile our Finclub is organizing an Equity research Event from 12th to 16th March.
I have attached the Banner of FinUtsav'11 for your reference.
Got a day's break from the regular grind of classes. Spending some quality time at home in Chennai by writing Corporate Finance assignment on Budget Implications. We are not spared in our holidays as well but that's what MBA life is all about.
Will be starting to Trichy in half an hour. Looking forward to the last month of first year before heading for summers.
Workload mounting up this week ,as lot of movies need to be watched for Law and ECG.They have given a series of movies to watch and write reviews from Law and Ethics perspective respectively.
Have to write a Business proposal for BC submission.
Besides, we are having Equity research competition submission and a write-up submission about a Finance topic.
And the best part is ,we have KC's Fox Trot on coming Monday - More than us ,it's the 2nd years who are fervently waiting for it as it's most likely to be their last event @ BIM.

Trichy is one of the premier cities in Tamilnadu, along with Chennai,Coimbatore and Madurai. It is 320km from Chennai and 350km from Bangalore. It is located exactly at the centre of Tamilnadu. It is among the top 5 industrial hubs of TN and BHEL has one of its most important factories here. In fact BIM is located inside BHEL.
You will not find coffee shops or pubs here but there are decent enough places to hang out. There's the Grand Anicut dam (known as Kallanai) across the Cauvery river which is 12 kms from our campus. There are decent restaurants in Trichy city, near the central bus stand. There's the famous temple town of Tanjore 35 kms from our campus. Pondicherry is around 170kms from here.
There are some 30-odd North Indians studying here and they share an excellent rapport with the local people here. Some of them have even learnt to speak Tamil. So rest assured you will have a good time here.
