Life@ BIM Trichy

Today started too early. Yes I woke up at 6:00 A.M, though slept only at 2:00A.M. Just to go to kallanai with my MARWAR team and guide, Geno. Then today we had operation research class in the afternoon, by Mr. Venkatasubramaniam. I had this subject in my under graduation but it was only today I understood the business implication of OR. Then the big event CRESCITA 08 being in the next week, most of us are busy with ISO auditing works, events planning and various other arrangements. But believe me amidst pressure we have lots of fun here..:-)

Hi,

Yesterday was a special day, if not for all at least for the first years. We had GYAN Lab organized by the BISMARC. We had Harish and Prasanna from the second year to give a brief elucidation about their summer projects. Harish had done summers in a marketing company and Prasanna from a finance company.A great initiative by the BISMARC. But unfortunately since I am here in Chennai for a press conference about CRESCITA and BIM, I was not able to attend the todays GYAN Lab it was supposed to be on the systems and HR. Any ways being here in Chennai gave me lot of learning. Thats it for now..

Hi,

I might not be able to update you. The whole BIM is moving to Chennai for the greatest event CRESCITA 08. The events will be conducted in HOTEL ACCORD Metropolitan, Chennai. Ok guys now got to do rest of packing. Will come soon with news on crescita..

Hi,
Back to Trichy after crescita. Crescita was a huge success, we had participants many top B-Schools. And the most important part of crescita, the speakers. This time we speakers from diverse fields, which gave different perspectives of business. Crescita was like more of an interface between students and the corporate people. All the speeches were idea provoking. All days were spent in Hotel Accord and evenings for shopping and roaming around.

Hi guys,

Yeah it has been a very long break !! It looks like just now we have joined BIM but we are towards the end of the second trimester. We all are settled to the B-school life assignment, case studies, presentations,.. and in fact we also enjoy it. After crescita to specify about some special events. we had kshan a financial case analysis competition organized by the FINCLUB and promotto08 a promotional plan contest organized by the BISMARC, marketing club of BIM. And the another special thing about the promotto08 is my team won the first prize πŸ˜‰

Hi all,
Just came from the marketing class. Today we had class on advertisement. It was really great to see the ads from management student point of view. We were presented with many ads, though i have seen all of them it was really great to discuss about their positioning, strategies which i have never thought of before coming to BIM.

Hi all,

Yesterday all students of PGP 1 were preparing for the Organizational Behavior presentation, but due to heavy rain in trichy class were suspended today. Its nice to see and play in rain( a real stress buster) but when it is raining continously for the whole day it becomes a stress itself ;-).. Anyways tomorrow we will be having the presentation for sure. see you soon..:-)

Hi,

Even today it was raining heavily but as i said we had the OB presentation on the organizational culture. And as usual it was great session. Some teams were asked to make the presentation and we shared many of our experience with the class. And DJ sir as always surprised us with great examples and he took us to a new dimension of the topic discussed. And as a whole today was a great day with lots of work completed successful and leaving in hand with yet more lot of work to be submitted tomorrow. πŸ˜ƒ

Hi,

I very happy today because there is no assignments to be submitted tomorrow :-) Yesterday and today we had Software System Analysis and Design. We had Mr. Charkaravathy, an entrepreneur to deal with the topics ERP and BPR. Though teaching was not his profession he was organized on the topics that he was supposed to deal with and today he dealt with the Testing of the software and each one of us were asked to do 25 test cases for each of the two case study which he gave as an class room exercise and then we discussed the test cases that were unique from the others. And then to tell about the Economics for Manager Class which we had in the morning many students came with question on the current economic situation, and all those were clearly explained to us. Economics is always one of the favorite subject for students because of the way it is taught.

Hi guys,
Sorry for not giving updates. 😞 Now mid term exams are going on and since it involve lot of group study it is little hard to keep you up to date on the latest happening in BIM. But don't worry anything significant happened will be updated amidst the exam. πŸ˜ƒ

Hi,

Yet one more exam to go. Tomorrow we have Software System and Analysis and Design exam. Expecting a question paper with full of case studies. Today the operation research paper was neither tough nor easy. We had problems from almost all the concepts in the syllabus. See you tomorrow with the updates of the SSAD exams.. ;-)..

Hi,

I would like to convey heartbreaking news of mournful pass away of one of my batch mate. Rajrup sarkar and sumantra saha were involved in the accident while they were returning after an eat out. Rajrup died on the spot and Sumantra is admitted in the hospital. We had a condolence meeting in the East end gardens and also had prayer for speedy recovery of Sumantra. Let the soul of rajrup rest in peace and I would also want you to pray for Sumantra, who is still in critical state.

Hi,

The conditions of sumantra is consistently improving. Till today almost 40-50 students of BIM have donated blood and students of NIT,Trichy have also come up to help us. Keep praying!. Today the final rites were done for Rajrup, for which again the whole of BIM was present in the cremation centre.

We wish best of recovery for Sumantra and our prayers are with him. May God be with the affected families. Best wishes once again and please do update us on his recovery.

Hi,

The condition of sumantra is stable. We hope that by tomorrow he will be ready for the operation. We made sure that at least two students are always with sumantra, to help sumantra and his parents. Today we have presentation on the organizational change in the OB class. And then in the economics for managers we learnt about the fiscal impact and investment, it was about role of government, effect of govt. expenditure, taxes, etc,. sounding too technical πŸ˜‰

Hi,

Sumantra is stable but not yet ready for the operation, since the platelets count in blood are less than the normal level he is not operated. But once the platelets count reaches the normal level he will be ready for the operation. Then regarding the academics today economics class was about the international economy, its history, the path it has followed from 17th century. Then as part of spirited today some of us went to a government school, nearby to take class. Believe me that school doesnt even have separate class rooms for different standards. It a great pleasure to go there amidst the busy schedule, the moment they see us they become very active and they start enjoying every moment. Its great to be with the children, seeing their ever smiling faces.

Hi,
Sumantra is still not operated; the platelet count seems to be below the normal level. We hope and pray that soon he will be back with us. Today morning I had Software System Analysis and Design, in which we saw about the system implementation, the various stages in it and we took a case study which was solved in the class and in the end we also had a quiz and as usual also assignments. In the afternoon I had corporate finance, which started with introduction to the working capital and then concepts of receivable management was taught with problems solved in the class. The concepts of working capital was explained extremely well by Prof. V G Sarangan. Through the problem he made sure that all the concepts were rightly conveyed. The unique characteristic that Prof. V G Sarangan has is he can read everyone face and he ensure that everyone is interactive in the class. Then now nearing the end of trimester, so loaded with lot of works case studies and project presentation in both marketing and Organizational behaviour and test case generation for the case study given in the SSAD, yet more to come. But dont worry I will give you regular updates amidst the busy schedule.

Hi,

Sorry for no updates for the past few days. This week was very busy, we had organizational behaviour presentations and case study analysis and the final project presentation in class and marketing case study analysis, all these amidst the tight class schedule of Timing for 8:30 to 7:00 all most all the days. We have almost reached the end of this trimester, with most of the syllabus being completed and about the next week, we have project presentation in marketing and a online quiz in the same. To tell in short regarding this week, Economics for Managers and Cost Analysis for Decision Making dominated most of the classes. Economics was about the history and evolution whereas in the CADM we studied about the various costing methods. Being from engineering back ground all these were very new for me but really now both these subjects are one among my favourite subjects. Especially CCAD having coming from industries, he explains every problem with a real world example. OK thats it for now.. See u in the next post.. J

Hi guys,

Sorry was not able to update you with the happening in the BIM. To tell in short about what happened in the past one month. The exams were over and the new year celebration, the most unforgettable new year in my life. We had camp fire and also lots of events for the students. The celebration went on till 2:00 AM, though new year came in the mid of our exams, the celebration spirit was very high. Then our holidays, it was for one week. Now the next trimester has started, as usual we are all divided into teams to get ready for the case studies and presentation. And the big news in BIM now is the SUNDAR RAGHAVAN CRICKET TROPHY 09. I will get you soon with the teams and their scores in my next post.

Does BIM takes XAT scores??
