Does BIM takes XAT scores??

Hi,

please post your further queries at BIM trichy Admission Queries & discussion, for which the link will be present in every post of mine. And for your query, BIM accepts only CAT score.

Hi

I forgot to mention about the management game that happened last week. We had Prof. Vinoth Dumblekar to conduct the business simulation game. This game lasted for the whole day. The students were grouped into teams of 5 or 6 members and asked to strategise their business including price, advertisement expense, percentage credit sales, material purchase etc.. The whole day was divided into 2 financial quarters. The students got a good opportunity to put their knowledge that they had gained in the course and to analyse the results of the decisions that they made. Of course these 5 or 6 people were assigned roles of chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief marketing Officer (CMO), Chief Operating Officer (COO) etc.. The best team was ranked as per the wealth the possessed at the end. We also learnt about how difficult is it to convince other over once point of opinion over a decision.

Great work man. Hope you guys still remember me. Wish you guys a great year ahead.

Hi KK,

We are waiting for Sangam, to see you all. πŸ˜ƒ

For guys wondering about what Sangam is ?

SANGAM, a word in tamil, means union. Every year alumni unite on campus and it is full time bash for 2 days. This year it is slated 21st and 22nd Feb.

Hi guys,

I have missed to update you with some of the importants events happened in BIM. One of them Bull 'N' Bears. The description about the event are as follows,

Bulls N Bears is a virtual online trading event organized by FINCLUB, the finance club of BIM. The event started on January 26, 2009 to February 02, 2009. The event took place during the trading hours and the students were given virtual money of 1 million. This time the event was held in a big way with co-operation from the service provider khelostocks.com with separate web space for BULLS N BEARS. The space can be viewed at Khelo stocks - CRESCITA 2009, BIM,Trichy Management Festival . The participants witnessed daily ups and downs in the stock prices according to the real market scenario. The students were evaluated based on the percentage of the gain over the total margin allocated. This event was really useful for the students who wanted to test their investment strategies without any risk but in return for gifts and prizes. The everyday toppers and the top three teams were given cash prizes and gift.

Hi guys,

The next important event that happened is the Cricket tournament.

The Sundar Raghavan Cricket trophy is a cricket tournament organized by the Sports committee of BIM for both PGP I and II. A total of 8 Teams of 15 members each were formed. Apart from the 15 player, each of the team had a manager, a coach and a physio. Sportscom made sitting arrangements outside the boundary, so that the supporters can cheer the teams and commentary was also available. Sportscom ensured that in every aspect a real cricket environment was created. The winners of the mens match were from PGP-I, the Royal Stag and the first runners-up were Yorkers from PGP-II and the second runners-up were Den Warriors from PGP-II. The winners of the womens match were Bandits from the PGP-II and the runners-up were Deadly Divas from PGP-I.

Hi,

For most of us the joining date is 20th..

A hearty welcome to BIM 26.

Look to hear a lot from you guys once you are on campus.

thank u sharan :)

ok guys...im swetha frm bim26(batch of 2009-11).....

well....what do i say abt BIM??..its been a month here and trust me its been simply awsome!!!....

the 1st day @ bim was really intrsting...v were asked to report at the campus by 10 am on july 2nd for registration purposes...it was nice meetin a 100 odd people frm diverse backgrounds :)...the campus is quite good....as u all probably know BIM is associated with BHEL..

this gives us a lot of advantages..top rung mangers from BHEL do come and impart their practical knowledge to our students in the area of operations management (which includes a gamut of fields in itself).

That apart BIM students are free to access most facilites inside BHEL to get a real time exposure of what happens and how theory is put into practice. As with any b-school, its imperative on the student's part to actively get involved in such activities, the faculty and the institution would be more than willing to facilitate such interactions, but the intiatives have to be student driven.

As for the other advantages, you get to use all the recreational facilities available at the BHEL township!! ..and yes bhel offers summer internships to bim students too ;)

i've got lots to say abt lyf @ bim...keep watching this space ;)

now lemme update u about 2 most important things--food and assignments

Assignments will most definitely not be the 'copy-from-book' types. You would have to do some amount of research. Marketing classes might include field studies as well.. And as you learn the ropes you would end learning the 3R's (Research, rip and reuse) πŸ˜‰ ... But if you really wanna make use of assignments you would need to do a lot of research.. definitely not the engineering type of assignments...

A laptop is very useful... for the following
* Presentations
* Sometimes (lecturers might insist on u bring lappies to classes esp statistics)
* Browsing for info in de hostel (for presentations, case studies, assignments)
* Playing games
* Watching movies (in class and in the hostel)
* ip Messenger fights
And basically to be in touch with ur campus and the outside world....

A lecture hour per say is for 70 minutes .. but lecturers do combine 3-4 such hours... For second year you might have a whole day 8:30 - 8 for one single subject.. But don't worry you'll either get used to it or learn a way to bypass it ;)

Mess is completely run by the students(messcom i.e mess committee is incharge)... You get to choose the menu and so there are no issues on that front.. and the menu would keep you interested for a pretty long time... (however, incase you get bored of the foodthere are a lot of eatouts to keep you interested)... The mess works on a sharing system and tokens are available for cooldrinks and special egg delicacies...And no you cannot enter the mess at anytime you want and expect something to eat.. There are timings for breakfast, morning and evening tea break, lunch and dinner..

A peep into some of the mess specialities --

* Fried Chicken
* Chicken Biryani
* Mutton Biryani
* Chicken gravy
* Mutton and Egg Kheema
* Paneer Butter Masala
* Malai kofta
* Gobi Manchurian

And a few more delicacies.. Apart from the normal meals (rice, sambhar, rasam, curd, roti and vegetables)...
Snacks would be provided during the evening tea break...
And during events, special buffet type food would be served...

mess food is really good...u r bound to put on 5-6 kgs by the time u leav aftr 2 yrs of studies 😁

now for some more intrsting stuff:

enuf of activitites here in BIM that will keep u engaged almost 24*7.. We have so many committees that keep throwin one on the other event all thru out the yr.. To list down a few we have the KALAIKOM, SPORTSCOM, BISMARC, FINCLUB and many more.. recently MARWAR'09 organised by the marketing club BISMARC was a huge success...it was a real-time experience involving evrythng rite frm product design,launch and selling :)...similarly v had an ice-breaker event organised by the cultural club kalaikom abt 2 weeks ago...it was reall fun!! :)...a couple of days ago v had a treasure hunt event...;)...had 2 roam around d campus searching for clues and treasure

we have so many events like foxtrot for the dancers and wannabe dancers πŸ˜‰ Also we have football, volleyball and the cricket tournaments for the sports freaks.. and also many marketing events and fiannce events.. infact we wud be sloggin more for these events than we do for academics.. πŸ˜ƒ
