Life@GIM (Goa Institute of Management)

Today was the last day for remedial classes.. Mr Kamath helped us brush some concepts..i think that was needed. The best thing about remedial classes was that it helped the batch to meet each other and get accustomed to the campus. Its like a home. We guys have gelled up so well dont feel like its been just 5 days that we have actually met . Tomorrow we have the registration. Along with that we will get to meet our faculty advisors. Also a few formalities to be completed. Tomorro official PGP1 course will commence... Hurray..Will love these 2 years for sure..:
GIM ROCKS!!! for sure

All the best ...
@kentech .. my roomie as well a guy from your batch were born at GIM as well .. chalo me off to pack my bags ..

Hi-
I am preparing for MBA this year.I want to knoew that whether it is compulsory to
take teh Laptops from the University. I am planning to buy one this month. So please help.

What a beautiful thread this has become.
I happened to read through the last few pages amidst the gruelling work and what a de-stresser it is. Just made me realise what heaven I have spent my 2 years in. How much those 2 years in GIM have changed me. For the better. From a fresh engineer with no knowlegde of anything whatsoever to a Product Manager in a TATA company. And to achieve such a transition in a place like GIM is a delight.
It's so heartening to see how the new batch has taken to GIM so soon and so beautifully. Let me tell you folks, the next two years (although very hectic) are going to be the best ever two years of your lives. Take my word for it. Work hard and enjoy thoroughly. Do go to Gene's atleast once a week - Gene's is the best bar in the world. And the cheapest too.
Shailesh, you guys have just a year left - make the most of it - you will miss it a lot when you start working.
See you guys, enjoy the ride!
GIM ROCKS!

Just came back after registration. Orientation starts at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Got a case study in the registration itself. I guess the next 2 years going to be tough specially for me after working 2 and half years in government organisation. But I know that my batchmates, seniors and above all GIM staff & faculty will guide through it to be successful.

Hi deepak, before I answer your question please let tell you that there is a thread of GIM Information Center. Ask your questions there.

Regarding laptops it is not compulsory to buy it from the college this year. I had one which I bought last year and has configuration good enough for the college use. So have brought it here and not buying from the college. However I dont know about next year but I am sure GIM will not insist you to shed any money without justified reason. They will always look for your good.

well the registration is done.. orientation almost over.. and already done with a case study... man.. we are already paicking up speed and our journey has only just started...
the PGP2's have started coming in... and the college is getting more lively now... the warmth with which each of them is recieving... it just makes us feel more at home....

from monday we begin our journey towards our goals... and lead ourselves with personal growth, self esteem, identity and pride!!!!

Registration over..also almost done with the orientation..liked the library..nice collection of books n journals.......also thru withe one case study. So it accelarating slowly..will probably land up in a tight schedule by next week end..its good to start like this..don feel sudden pressure..really liked it..
monday onwards we have regular classes ...so thats gonna take us to the maximum speed..hope the next 2 years will be smooth path ahead n not a roller coaster

we had our first interaction with PGP2's yesterday... it was kinda different as we out numbered the seniors by a huge margin........ bu they were good.. fun here and there.... nice people...
apart from that the best part was that the first Birthday party of our batch happened last night.. and it was so much fun....

will post soon..

Well Well Well.....
M in mumbai when everyone is meeting seniors/bumping sachin n discussing case study.... n yeah.. orientation.... ??:

Take 1: 13th June

Reached GIM... knowing only one guy in my batch....with thoughts of attending remedial courses and study hard... with disappointment abt hostel...n missing out on LH cos we reached late...

Take 2: 23rd June

Knows atleast 60 ppl and remember names of atleast 30 n friends with almost everyone.... this is even though college is yet to start...
Attended only one day of Prof. Kamat's Remedial... bunked rest...
In 10 days there.. partied in OT twice.... went on island cum birg sanctury which wasn't thr trip... played lotsa TT... now knows most of panaji as if its the case always been.... already have started lovin OT 23... n yeah... feels good to make ppl jealous... Just missed one n half day till now n already feels like missed a lot... chatted with seniors and already underwent Personality Development Program (which is free) once... +fringe benefits of having access to superb collection of movies n games.... (of batchmates )

Reflection:
Was this the way I wanted....?
Aaah it far exceeeded all expectations... was apprehensive a bit initially as like anyone else...but actual thing is much better even withh all the snails/common loo-bathroom/no wifi in OT/no parking for 4 wheelers.....:) now all tht is just plain happiness... may nt lastlong due to rigors of all sorts or may be augmented by it... but whatever the case... Life@GIM in first 10 days was an experience As good as it can get... first time felt genuinely happy to have missed other Bschools... So well whtver picture can be gathered by our posts here...we can never be able to tell the strange but pleasant feelings we are getting...
Be here to feel it...

he is one of the most humble . approcahable professors .. he is an IIT Madras graduate 😃 but has worked in the finance domain
hi :)
Today was the first official day of lectures @ GIM .... and the journey has kicked off ...
Seniors are already in the campus .... and hostels are buzzing with music .... even the Morque has come back to life
Rain God has shown some mercy tday and the Sun is smiling on Mandovi making the picturesque landscape even more beautiful .
On the first day itself ..we PGP1s are feeling the heat of forming the groups ... engg+ non engg..
Also there was brief intro on castalia07, which is one of the biggest events to be organized in GIM ... its about employee attrition
same can be visited on Castalia - The International Conference on Talent Retention
One more thng unique abt the GIM ( which i thnk even IIMs cannot boastabt) is the free ferry ride across the Mandovi ... an evening ride to the neighbouring chorao Island truely refreashes you ! :)
Altogether a gr8 start !
Cheers !

My first script after reaching GIM,my offence of not posting for so long can be condoned off considering I was engrossed in the BEAUTY of GIM as well as GOA.realy every morning when I wake up,the breeze blowing across mandovi fulls me with enthusiasm to do something new.
Now a days rain is welcoming everyone coming to GOA sometime by drizzling sometime by bullet drops depends upon your luck.........:)
As far as classes and other activities are concerned, it has passed its teenager stage in the preparatory classes and now we have been given so much for mustication right from day one.As mandar said it is realy having fun as well as challenge to form groups considering all constraints.but finally we have overcome on this issue at least my group................:)
very first day we got the opportunity to contribute to the event which is going to held on 11-12 august named castalia07as mandar mentioned. The presentation by our seniors was awesome, which inspired most of us to be part this event.
All the people in administration as well as seniors are realy helpfull,I never came across any case of procrastination on their part........thanks to all stakeholders.

let me stop here now but surely will come up soon with more info regarding insight of GIM.

GIM Rockkkks.

It depends on college/university in which you are going to pursue MBA as you have mentioned university I dont know for which you are talking about. Here in GIM there is no compulsion you can take your own but you must have original softwares no pirecy is allowed.

Woah! How does it feel to come back to a page after almost couple of months and doing something, which one did almost every hour. Trust me, its really difficult to keep in pace at PG with priorities changing so much in such a short span of time.

Not sure what to say and to be fairer how to put it across. There are times when one just gets swallowed in emotions and guess its becoming one of those moments for me.

What the heck? Am i spamming? Well lets bunk the matter. I am sure most of you would understand what i want to convey once you move out of GIM.

Cutting across all the circumlocutions, all the noobie GIM pagals, do register for GIM rank by visiting your CP, and send me a mail on my GIM id which any one on campus will give ya. I will approve the request and you can flaunt GIM rank across your id and be as smart as Aspire on PG.

Anyone listening :satisfie:

Finally m bac to the place i belong... apologies 4 not postin... bt it cn b considered with the beauty of goa...

GIM is superb,.. Xcept 4 the FEW faculty ppl... all r gr8... the Fac ad sys is the best thing to hav around...

Abt the hostel... my views may b a bit diff frm othr coz of my stay in THE HT...

Classes hav startd at a real bang.. n we cudnt evn get the time 2 get into the study mode...

n at last... My regards to all thoz PAGALGUY seniors our PGP2 4 being around vn we needed thm most...
