I remember the first time i met u Aris!! U had met with an accident and u had that typical scar on ur face!! man, never imagined u to be so "healthy"
I got a mail from PG saying to reset my password. And i was visiting all the threads that i used to access....the first thread i clicked on was this...Life @ GIM. Would spend time in reading all posts and would keep posting here !!
Hello all GIMites (Hope that is how you would like to be called! if not apologies)
Though I never studied in your college but I do have a small transitional relation. In the year 2003, I had appeared only for XAT (no CAT) and had recieved calls from XIMB and GIM. I was able to convert GIM call but could never join....b'coz of financial reasons:sad:
But anyways, lot of water has flown by since that time and I am gearing up for a renewed fight this time.
So as the new batch passes out , I will just have a parting thought for them:
"In 3 words I can sum up , everything I learned from Life : It Goes On!" - Robert Frost
Dude awesome to see you post again..well eventually we have never posted together at a time before...
But really gr8 to c ur post...and it makes loads and loads of sense to post..Dont think we can forget those 2 awesome ears of our life...
Anyhow...armstrong we wish you luck for the coming season and really admire your spirit....
Definitely looking forward to hear from the new batch (PS - I just got to know that thr have almost been 55 girls select froma batch of 120)..this is like the second best sex ration in the country (After MICA)...
Thazz all I guess..will take a back seat once the new guys start posting
Great to have seniors back in action.. Tapan would like you to post some of your memories of GIM for us...
It has just been two days since the academic session has started.. We had a Ribandar Talks session on the very first day of this academic trimester, with Mr. N Gopal Rao, Member Economic Advisory Committee to the Prime Minister lecturing students on the Fiscal Consolidation at Central and State Level..
Mecca will be soon holding an event exclusively for the Juniors (Batch of 2010) and today the posters for the same have been put all around the campus... Other clubs will be following soon...
But a word to my seniors.. We are really missing you guys.. And are still getting used to the fact that you people have left the campus.. All of us are really looking forward to the Grand Alumni Meet to meet you people again...
so final we r here in GIM,well the journey to GIM had been a long and pain full but when u reach inside GIM,u feel every bit of tat xavier coll in kol.......... and now here i m at Admin 92,njoying my self in GIM
The experience at GIM has been nothing short of feel of being in heaven..........the infrastr has improved many folds and the whole feeling of being in a B-skool is yet to shrink in.............
Rite from choosing a room to dancing in rain, everything has been a fun............
hv met a lot ppl from PG like kentech, rahul, snape, anish.indian, loveekansal at al...............
well talking abt the experience of GIM and goa, when i reached goa and picked a local newspaper, its front page headlines was "Beer is cheaper than Petrol in Goa"........well this statement really set the tone for me................
There was a lot of talk of mad rush to get a room in hostels, but thank god nothing of such thing happened and we all got the rooms of our choices................ Mukesh(hostel warden) handled the situation very well and from his physical luks it was very evident,he shud be the last person on this earth to take panga with.............. Since we were the first ppl to reach GIM,we initially got a room in LH for a day and i must tell u they are the best rooms of GIM,but as GIM has broken all records this in terms of girls to boy ratio(55:65),the reserved ground floor of LH for boys has now gone to girls:sarcasm:.......... the next two days it was just like a marriage party, wid ppl pouring from all over the country and getting into their respective rooms............. Dinesh and somnath (both PGP2) were present there to help us out in case of any problems.............
It was there i met ppl like kapil_jink,snape and many more from PG.........
Then there was this orientation classes and a lot of gyan, thru which i had a sound sleep and wid ppl like deepak and srikant,my seat on the last bench during orientation and fixed........
hiiii everyone.....It always gr8 to continue d trend ..n nitiksh n i with 3 others hv reached a bit early!!!.....
it has been 7 days in gim n its a gr8 experience.... location of d coll is gr8 n cool wind from mandovi river , jaggu , gene's , heritage building (ie our coll) makes d surrounding/environment awesome........ first 3 days were awesome as we met our batch mates from almost all states of india... n yes there r 55 girls this time!!!! coll management is very very supportive .... seniors reached on sat/sun n wait of meeting seniors finally came to an end!!! had intro session or PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT SESSION from last 3 days... it is really gr8 to know our seniors n special thxs to dinesh n other seniors for their support...
very first day we got case study which was discussed next day!!! n got few assignments tooooo... luckly tomorrow is off for pgp1....... so we r plannin to c goa!!!
n yes this time no regular/heavy rains!!!! n i hope weather remains same tomorrow also.....
ll keep posting n hope other pgp1s also share their experience here........
One thing i hv noticed in GIM,ppl go an extra mile to help u,i had some issues with my laptop and yashwant(our system guys) stayed till 7pm to help me out although his office hours get over at 5:30pm.moreover there was no emergency also as i hardly had any work load then,it was this act of his which really shows y GIM has come such a long way in these 14yrs.........
Today was probably the best day of my life,we had a gala time time ...........Anuj had organized a "small" together of all the 120 PGP1 at GENE and had was followed by a rain dance had lasted over 4hrs ........we sang and danced on almost every possible song............... and thnaks to the tea at jaagu which i got at 1:30am,i m still awake(its also bcoz of the MLR assignment:new_scatter:) ...................
Hey Tapan....OTFFU is no longer the party zone....this year its gonna be all about the OTGFU.... :)
Bucket party plans are being drawn up....The juniors are gonna get a sampling of the OT culture very soon....On first impression, they seem to be a very enthu and capable batch of people...Nothing compared to u guys though... U'r batch is being missed by all including faculty and support staff..
Was reading posts from other threads, just thought i would reply to them here @ Aris: U r very much welcome to stay with DK and me during grand alumni reunion....Can raise some Thump too... :)
@ Aspire: Yes,Snape is staying in the room occupied by Alton and Ashwin. He seems to have taken over your role as main GIM PG contributor.... :)
Plans for Midsummers and Freshers Party being Drawn and they'll be coming up soon too....
Lotsa things happening in college...OT has been revamped...The Restrooms have been revamped and they're much much better now...
Lectures have started in full swing and we have already been loaded with cases and projects.....
I am Jealous Jealous and more Jealous..seems like yesterday we guys were thr..and shucks we woke up and its gone...Damn!!!!
Anyhow I dont drink but I did enjoy those OTFF parties...awesome they were yaaron!!!
By the was I was a perfect OT guys staying in Morgue...Done that all..broken dustbins....played pela pela....crushed bottles...locked rooms...n wot not...
Alien ur on dude...just that thr wud b too many of us toh sab ko kaise adjust karega yaar...and yes thr are plans that I might ride to goa but totally depends on rains...other guys and office ka chutti....
Looking forward to those 3 alumni meet days....and yes I am still jealouss
Well Guys I wont tell a blatant lie that I am trying to fight back tears and all that stuff, but considering that is my very first post on a thread I have dreamt of posting for more than 720 days. And it is all coming to me today. Like one rush....The reject, the re-enrollment at IMS....The walk to the centre in the dust, in the rain, in the chip chip mumbai humidity, in the sun.....Missing the last date for sending the GIM app...talking to Jenny mam, sending her the soft copy of PI form after 4 days....
Interview...
The "Congratulations, You are....."
The flash of green light!!!
So this was the past. I am here, now what.....am I happy???
Not really....
I AM ELATED!!!!!
WHY??
Cos it is at GIM that I have river facing room.
It is at GIM that you have surgically clean toilets. I doubt if the baees will ever read this but guys they simply rock.
It is at GIM that you can never enter a girls hostel but can sing a Punjaabi song in front of their hostel at 1 oclock in the night.
Its only in Goa that the tipple is...he he he (Me a teetotaller, Non smoker, a virgin...)
It is only at GIM that seniors threaten you with chappals if you call them Sir!!
Its only at GIM that we have a near 1:1 sex ratio for PGP1. (nO GUYS i AM NOT SUCH A DESPO, JUST FOR INFO)
So how is my life going here??
So far so good.
But I spent the most amazing night of my life here in Goa on 25th at the end of which I was totally exhausted. No no dont get ideas you despo guys, the gender ratio notwithstanding ,it hasn't reached so faaaar...................YET!!!!
One of our batchmates organised a small gettogether at GENE's half the batch was their. What ensued was a "spirited" and raucuous singing session where I ended up singing the Sutta Song.
When they asked me to put in the original gaali lyrics I put my foot down saying I had broken up before I left Mumbai....so If I foul mouth like that what the bloody hell are my chances maaan!!!!
I sang it, while the gaalis were supplied by the organiser who by now was fast losing the functions of his faculties to the most amazing powers of a highly potent substance called....yes thats right....
Just then it began to rain. Fortunately I was carrying no cellphone no camera and was wearing clothes anyway headed for the washing board. I, my biker friend Gaurav Makol who chucked a MICA call to be here and our very own bouncer Mr Nitiksh had a blash drenching ourselves to the bone in the beating raindrops...
Soon the action shifted to LH Quad. And by then the entire batch had milled around in the LH. People sang danced, performed and had a time of their life. By the end of it I was totally exhausted and had lost my voice due to screaming Punjabi and Bolly lyrics....
Some 200MB of pics and videos of the event are doing the rounds of GIM as I write.
AND AFTER I FINISHED.....
I went back and gave the final touches to my MLR assignment, read up on Kotler and Communications so that I can make time to wash clothes tommorow.
So beware, if you think GIM is some party hotspots, spare a thought for the teacher who let you know in no uncertain terms that ignoring ABSOLUTELY any aspect of your academics can lead to some really...shal we say..."AMUSING" results and can even take the form of a one way ticket back to wherever you came from.
Well guys there is a laundry in GIM. But for now I only use it for press. Washing clothes builds character you see....
So now considering I have a lecture tommorow at 8 and dont even know if there is a party gonna take place (AGAIN???), I will wrap this up and go to sleep. (Yeah we even do that sometimes....just for a change)
Guys I am gone now. But I will leave you with one very practical thought.
If you have a call from GIM and IIMC......Take IIMC.
But in case you do the other thing. Come here and take a free ferry ride across the Mandovi in the night. Your decision will still be right. Whoever said there is no free lunch...
